Washington–President Donald Trump said Monday that he had fired the chair of the Tennessee Valley Authority, saying the executive was getting paid too much and was hiring foreign workers. Trump told reporters at the White House that he was formally removing the authority’s chair of the board and another member of the board, and he threatened to remove other board members if they keep hiring foreign labour.(Snip) He said the TVA board must immediately hire a new chief executive officer who “puts the interests of Americans first.” According to Trump, the CEO earns $8 million a year.
“The new CEO must be paid no more than $500,000

Let this serve as a warning to any federally appointed board: If you betray American workers, you will hear two words: “˜You’re fired.'”
Love it.
$500K a year! Me! Me! Pick me!

Good. 8M a year (16x the POTUS salary)? Labor or LAMAR Alexander (maybe journalist need to learn how to spell AND proof read)?

I'll bet ol Lamar has dipped into that TVA honey pot multiple times. Probably best buds with the chairman (I wish him luck finding a new job) And he says $8 Mil isn't that much which tells you how much Lamar thinks is enough.

$8 million to run a quasi-government agency? Sadly, we have these from sea to shining sea. Right here in my home town, we have a River "Authority" who hires high priced executives whose first task is to build a new HQ building in a "better town" (where most of them live) and second task is to fail to maintain the dams on the rivers to the point where two (of 6) have failed and they are now forcing the property owners to set up taxing districts to pay for replacing those antiquated dams that they have failed to maintain for over 50 years. Unfortuneatly, only three of the 6 dams have enough property value to afford the $35-40 million price tag for the new dams . But high payrolls, questionable land buys to insiders, and "grants" to other "consultants" and "charities" are handed out (to favored folks) more than Santa himself gives out presents on Christmas eve.
But they did show some restraint. They put their new HQ on hold. I expect they'll start it next year.
We have lots of $8 million a year executives in "public service."

I heard a FOX Business guy say there are other state governments going uh-oh, we best get our house up to snuff FAST. Its
massive greedy corruption everywhere. Its gone unchecked by those paid to administer taxpayer funds properly. Thank God for President Trump.

The salary of the University of Tennessee football coach is only $ 4 million a year. That probably makes him the highest paid state employee. More than the governor or president of any university. So how does a federal employee make twice what a football coach makes? Somebody's back is being scratched. He might be saving the TVA customers money by laying off Americans making a decent wage and paying 3rd world types chicken feed. But with PT it is America First.

The national laboratories like Los Alamos and Sandia National Laboratories are funded by the federal government and are managed by outside contractors. This allows the management to be paid considerably more than Civil Service General Schedule (GS) pay rates which tops out in 2020 at $142,180 for GS-15, Step 10, not counting cost of living and mitigating other factors. The labs' managers make several times that money.
Ironically, the second highest paid government official is the Postmaster General who actually makes more than the Vice President. I wish it was merit pay.

Oooh! This is going to be fun! Watching the leftist media condemn President Trump for depriving a CEO of a multi-million dollar salary.
Don't think they won't do just that. The delusional and crazed leftists will do anything to criticize Trump - - even making a victim out of an overpaid CEO. You watch and see!

I grew up in a steel mill town in the '40s-'50s, a few miles north of Pittsburgh. A family friend was a TVA employee (GS13!). After finding out what "TVA" meant, was rather puzzled ... Tennessee? Pittsburgh? The guy never left that little town, (at least seemed to be) always around. Never did understand, nor learn any more about what he did ...

Why would the TVA decide to out-source 20% of their staff to people from foreign based companies? Why make that policy?

What the freakin heck? Eight million a year!! Five hundred thousand is way too much as well. The salary should be under $150K. Government obviously no longer needs to attract the best. That was the old excuse for increasing government pay.

His predecessor was feeding at the hog trough a long time too,
"(Bill) Johnson, 65, has been TVA president and CEO since November 2012. At $8.1 million in total annual compensation, he’s the highest-paid federal employee. Johnson is potentially eligible for a $12.8 million payout on his departure."
It turns out that Ronald Reagan was fired as host of "GE Theater" after he criticized the TVA for being an example of government bloat. Barry Goldwater also had his comments about selling the TVA to the highest bidder used against him by the worthless LBJ during the election. I sure hope dumbarse Joe Bidet tries to use this firing against POTUS.

CEO rakes in $8 million a year, no problem because it's spread out over X number of customers' bills. Then they cut costs by dumping American IT staff and replacing them with H-1B labor. According to Traditional Republican Sen. Labor Alexander, who certainly does not dip his ladle in the gravy, our president is spreading disinformation.
