Lawmakers reported progress on a huge coronavirus relief bill Saturday, as political pressure mounts to restore an expired $600-per-week supplemental unemployment benefit and send funding to help schools reopen. “This was the longest meeting we’ve had and it was more productive than the other meetings,” said Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., who was part of the rare weekend session. “We’re not close yet, but it was a productive discussion — now each side knows where they’re at.” (snip) The Democratic leaders are eager for an expansive agreement, as are President Donald Trump and top Republicans like Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky.

The $600/week is a good investment for Trump to take credit for. The best money for him that Nancy & Chuck ever spent. I’m collecting UI right now in CA and trust me that extra bump covers my house payment and car payment. If it stops right now with no job in sight I will be hurting. But the democrats have intentionally done everything the can do to destroy this economy for the sake of beating Trump in November. Their efforts have just solidified and grew support for him. Nice try Chuckie and Nasty but no cigar for you.

Do any of these people know how to spell i-n-f-l-a-t-i-o-n? The only way to reduce inflation is by raising interest rates to pull the excess dollars out of the economy. We've got around $27 T in national debt at around 0% to 2% interest. There's a big difference between 0% interest on $27 T and 20% interest on $27 T. The only 3 things to service our debt in that case will be to 1) raise taxes, 2) reduce services or 3) print more money. Things get really fun if other countries sell all their Treasury holdings and flood our economy with even more dollars or if more dollars are printed. If they can't spell "inflation" maybe they can spell V-e-n-e-z-u-e-l-a.

That $600 gives no incentive to work. It's not just the $600 for some families. This year alone, some have gotten $1200, a local $1000, more if they were a small business, plus $500 per child, another $1200 for the finance, formerly baby daddy, food assistance increased over $300 per child if they received a free lunch at school, plus SSDI checks and a tax refund. Add free rent or mortgage payments. Older people are still looking for jobs or working part time to exist because they can't access the gravy train. I have never seen so many brand new cars locally. Please note the color of the year is candy apple red.

Who's in charge or our Federal government? After reading this article, one would think the Democrats do, with Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Shumer running the show. The GOP and Trump barely rate any mention, unless it's regarding Trump using his Twitter feed to change his mind about something and undercutting the GOP's previous positions. Are the GOP lawmakers so much in the shadows regarding this issue/legislation? Or is this just another example of the biased Media rewriting actual events to promote the Democrat side and reputation?

Do the math --- $600/week = 40 hours @ $15/hour. (well over the minimum wage in all states). Even high priced New York is $11.80/ hour. So that is an automatic raise for all workers not returning to work!!! Consider that a bonus along with your state unemployment. No wonder people would rather sit back and accept the federal gift for doing nothing.

This is not a black and white situation. My county in California has been locked down from day one with no easing of anything. We are still on full lock-down other than they finally opened some parks and dog parks again. I teach computer classes in person. I do online too, but I do very intensive and specific subjects that need to be live. I can only do one on one online. Until they allow me to teach my classes again, My income is down to nothing. Both my under 30 young adult kids got laid off from their jobs. One is in her last year of her college. She is doing all her classes online, but if she did not have unemployment, she would not be making it right now. My other son is a manager in the hotel business. That hotel co. has said it is going to take 3 years to get back up to speed. He did find a new job as a restaurant manager, but he would not have made it either without this unemployment. He is a big follower of Ron Paul and rants about the Feds and funny money and all that, but the reality is, people cannot make it until we end this lockdown!! We are stuck right not in this void. It is truly ridiculous and killing businesses right and left.
