A U.S. judge on Friday denied Oregon’s request to restrict federal agents’ actions when they arrest people during chaotic protests that have roiled Portland and pitted local officials against the Trump administration. Federal agents deployed by President Donald Trump to tamp down the unrest have arrested dozens during nightly demonstrations against racial injustice that often turn violent. Democratic leaders in Oregon say federal intervention has worsened the two-month crisis, and the state attorney general sued to allege that some people had been whisked off the streets in unmarked vehicles. U.S. District Judge Michael Mosman said the state lacked standing

Too bad mayor and goobernor...hope those 'whisked' off the streets have gone to black sites, drained of information, and disappeared...start with the lower fruit and work up the tree until you find the really rotten leaders.

The Courts have no say so in the matter. The Judiciary can't order the Executive Branch not to protect the public.

Has anyone in Portland seen or heard from their Chief of Police? I thought it was his sworn duty to protect the lives and property of the citizens of Portland. Grow a pair chief and start restoring law and order to Portland or resign.

It's time to stop using that old canard of demonstrations against racial injustice. It's about giving the marxist/socialist Democrat racists control of the county. Most of them probably don't know who Floyd was.

About the only way Portland could ban federal officers is if they would secede from the Union. But Liberals and Democrats keep telling us that the South was treasonous for ignoring U.S. law. in the 1860s. Well, what's good for the goose...

Democratic “Leaders” in Oregon need arresting in the worst way ... Democratic Leaders are complicit in enabling insurrection in Blue Cities hoping that riots and responses will reflect badly on Trump because Orange Man Bad. Arrest the instigators AND trace their funding. These are not peaceful protests and they need to be crushed.

The leftist and liberal Democrats who filed the complaint with the court simply drew the wrong judge. The judge who ruled on the matter appears to be the nominee of one of the Bushes. If they had drawn either a Clinton or and Obama activist liberal Democrat judge you can bet that judge would have ruled against federal law enforcement.

Australia has sent a diplomatic note to the United Nations rejecting China’s expansive maritime claims in the South China Sea, joining the growing list of nations that have pushed back against Beijing’s presumption of “historic rights” to the disputed waters. The note was sent to the UN on Thursday and posted to the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf’s website on Friday morning. Australia is the latest in a small but emerging chorus of nations that are describing as illegal China’s position that it holds economic and maritime rights to nearly all of the South China Sea. The judge overseeing the criminal cases against four ex-police officers charged in the May 25 killing of George Floyd vacated his previous gag order Tuesday that restricted comments by lawyers and others associated with the cases. Hennepin County District Judge Peter Cahill acted in response to objections to the gag order by the defendants and a coalition of news media organizations, including the Star Tribune, that are also seeking the release of body camera footage recorded during Floyd’s deadly encounter with police. Cahill did not rule Tuesday on motions seeking the release of the videos, which are currently viewable by the public only by appointment.

The California Department of Transportation has agreed to pay $2 million for destroying belongings during sweeps of homeless encampments from 2014 to 2019. The class-action lawsuit, filed in 2016 on behalf of unhoused Californians, claims that belongings, including, food, clothing, and medical supplies, were destroyed during the sweeps enacted by Caltrans. The Alameda County Superior Court approved the settlement last week. Under the ruling, Caltrans is required to set up a $1.3 million fund to compensate people for their loss of property and give $700,000 to the nonprofit organization Homeless Action Center to provide housing and benefits services for the unhoused.

San Francisco Mayor London Breed recently spoke with Vogue about certain white progressives involved in the recent demonstrations following the death of George Floyd, and did not have very nice things to say. Breed stated that while she's happy more white Americans are now supportive of the Black Lives Matter movement — recent polling shows upwards of 60% of white Americans support the protests and calls for police reform — she has "a real problem with the takeover of the movement by white people." "I want people to respect the opinions and feelings of Black people and allow us to decide what is in our best interest," Breed told Vogue.

Disturbing new revelations that permanent immunity to the coronavirus may not be possible have jeopardized vaccine development and reinforced a decision by scientists at UCSF and affiliated laboratories to focus exclusively on treatments. Several recent studies conducted around the world indicate that the human body does not retain the antibodies that build up during infections, meaning there may be no lasting immunity to COVID-19 after people recover. Strong antibodies are also crucial in the development of vaccines. So molecular biologists fear the only way left to control the disease may be to treat the symptoms after people are infected to prevent the most debilitating effects, including inflammation, blood clots and death.

Despite the occasional looting, chaos, property damage, trespassing, rioting, graffiti, assaults, arson and general mayhem, the media consistently assure us that antifa “protesters” are “largely peaceful.” And since the majority of buildings in Portland, Seattle and Denver haven’t been looted yet, who am I to argue?Of course, it takes only a sliver of the population to transform downtowns into a mess and create quality-of-life issues for thousands of law-abiding citizens. And the mayors who surrender parts of their cities to left-wing “protesters” are tacitly endorsing lawlessness themselves. There’s little doubt that if alt-right activists
