Nike said Wednesday it’s cutting jobs and shuffling its executive ranks as the sports apparel giant shifts more of its focus to digital sales versus brick-and-mortar retail outlets, which have taken a beating amid the coronavirus pandemic. Nike didn’t specify how many of its 76,700 employees worldwide will get the ax, but disclosed on its website that the cuts will result in a pretax charge of $200 million to $250 million. A spokeswoman for the maker of Air Jordan and LeBron 17 Graffiti shoes portrayed the cuts as a reallocation of resources rather than a reduction in costs, CNBC reported Wednesday.

I guess that Colin Kapernick "All-Star Quarterback" line of shoes isn't moving off the shelves too quickly.

Having seen their brick and mortar stores ravaged and looted by their loyal customers, they’ve decided to move to online sales. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them go out of business at some point. They’ve forgotten that they turned off a fairly large chunk of potential - and previous - customers with their foolish sjw stance.

Aside from the Burn, Loot, Murder crowd, no one has been looking for Nike's anyway. And if they want them, they take them!!

They would save a MINT if they stopped paying LeBron and Colin to wear their stuff. My guess is the employees getting the axe were contributing much more to the national economy than a couple of ingrate jocks.

Even from its beginning, Nike wasn't really an American company. Over time, that became more clear. When Nike bowed to Colin Take-a-knee and deep-sixed a ton of new sports shoes bearing a historic American flag (the Betsy Ross flag), the mask came off.
So go, Nike, go to Communist China where your future lies. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

I hope Nike doesn't re-allocate the $250 million from Jordan or LeBron to saving employee jobs. I know Jordan or LeBron would not want that.

How many 0.10 cent per hour Chinese slave workers will they have to lay off to save $200 to $250 million?

They have made so many Woke decisions. Wow! How did that work out for you guys? Good riddance! Have never and will never own one of your lousy products made in a sweat shop in China or Taiwan! Workers make $5.00 a day and the shoes sell for $500.00 and they can't keep them on the shelves in neighborhoods where nobody had a job. Amazing stuff! Good Riddance!

If I'm going to pay >$200 for a pair of shoes they shouldn't need to be made by slave labor.

Wish I was wearing Nikes so i could stop wearing Nikes. I remember my dtr had to have a pair of high top Nikes selling for $50 back in the 80's. I almost wouldn't spend the $$ but finally did. $80 prolly now wouldn't buy strings. I too think they have had enough of their shoes taken for free by the free loaders. I would have shut down after the first looting.

Nike’s irksome social activism dates to at least 1997 when they ran a dishonest ad that said there were golf clubs in the USA where Tiger Woods can’t play. They pulled the ad after a rather short run when challenged to name one such course. Since then Nike has promoted one liberal cause after another while manufacturing shoes in hazardous third world glue factories that pay workers, as Poster 9 said, nothing.

Would that be ax, like in axing a question? Woke Nike's brick-and-mortar retail outlets took far more than a beating amid the coronavirus pandemic; they took a smashing and a looting, too. Talk about taking a knee; Nike holds bLACK lives in such high esteem that they're moving their stores as far away from bLACK people as they can. Comical.
