President Trump signed an executive action on Tuesday to prevent illegal immigrants from being included in the 2020 census for congressional apportionment, saying the move is needed for “respect for the law and protection of the integrity of the democratic process.” The president said for the purposes of determining the number of House representatives from each state, it will be U.S. policy “to exclude from the apportionment base aliens who are not in a lawful immigration status.”(Snip) Democrats blasted the move as anti-immigrant. Democratic National Committee Chair Tom Perez called it “an unconstitutional order that has no purpose other than

They sued to prevent an executive action from being over-turned, and now he's using an executive action on an immigration item.
Wonder if the Dems actually hurt their position on executive action with their DACA lawsuit.

what doesn't anyone in government understand about the definition of the word illegal, except our duly elected President? they'll still vote in California, regardless.

Stupid question on my part (seriously) "Did we count illegals and determine congressional districts since say 2000?" If (and I suspect we did) the Fed Gov allowed that to happen, that explains a lot. My God, what a mess THEY (deep staters) have created.

Will the order be obeyed? Who's going to check if these people are illegal if mail in ballots are used.

This is toothless. No one is going to come to my door and ask for proof of citizenship before they count me in the census.

Why do you even need an executive order?

My wife and her 94 year old Mom are life long JFK Democrats. The ones the present "socialists" depend upon.
My wife after some of my present rational explanation that these Democrats are NOT the ones is beginning to sway her. From my side, hope springs eternal. MAGA

Good. If they aren't legal, they aren't 'here's, politically. The President has the sole authority to determine who is considered. Not the courts. Not Congress.

Did the courts rule that the citizenship question could not be on the 2020 census?
Now we are going to have outcome-based illegal immigrant counting.
I see tangles in the counting methods. I trust PDT has an endgame for this strategy.

Common sense will tell you that the numbers of illegal aliens sojourning in one State should not cause a Congressional seat to be moved from another State populated by US citizens to effectively represent the illegal aliens in the State where they are sojourning unlawfully. There is nothing in the US Constitution that requires that known illegal aliens be counted in the Constitution or to reapportion Congressional seats.

#5 YES. And always have been. It's a fact that multiple representatives have been taken from states with fewer illegal immigrants and provided to states with more illegal immigrants. Last time I checked I think the total was 5. No, they can't legally vote, of course, but yes they are counted for the purpose of Representative Apportionment. Absolutely the Executive Order is unquestionably un-constitutional. But this is how we get things changed. This gets it before the American people. This gets a movement to amend the Constitution. This is smart. (Besides, look how many unquestionably un-constitutional policies we have to live with thanks to Obama)

FTA: Vanita Gupta... said the Constitution is clear that “the census must count every single person in our nation regardless of status or background.”
Based on her explanation, if China invaded and landed 20,000,000 troops in the US, then they must be counted (regardless of status or background). Since an invading army is a group of illegal aliens, they should be no different than the invading army of illegal aliens who have illegally crossed the border for the past 50+ years.
I hate to point out the obvious here, but her argument is ludicrous from any legal standpoint.

There will be a lot of weeping and wailing. They count on those numbers for federal money for EBT, Medicaid, free school lunches, and a long gravy train.

When the Constitution was written we were not plagued by illegal immigrants because America didn't provide any free stuff. It they came here they would have had to work harder than they did in their home country. So how is it unconstitutional to protect your own borders?

The census bureau can't even get their computer system to count. I filled out that census thing on line, got a confirmation number and a month later got a request to do the same thing. Got another confirmation number. Maybe this month or next, I'll get another request. I'm already counted twice. Maybe the third time will be the charm.
