Senate Democrats are proposing a $350 billion measure designed specifically to “address systemic racism and historic underinvestment in communities of color,” via the Economic Justice Act, which they announced on Thursday.Democrats view the measure as an “important down-payment to answer the calls to address systemic racism and historic underinvestment in communities of color.”The act, unveiled on Thursday, effectively acts as a reparations proposal, with Democrats proposing to “immediately” help minority communities with a $135 billion investment in “child care, mental health and primary care, and jobs.” The remaining $215 billion would be used to address inequality in the long term, devoting the investment to “infrastructure,

I wonder if the black vote can be bought for $350BB.
What does the market say?
Have these senators written the legislation?

Rather than letting our representatives, "of the highest honor & integrity," determine if any reparations should be paid to address "Systemic Racism," why not let the American TAXPAYER decide as to the worthiness of such a proposal since it will be THEM footing the "reparations" bill?
Simply put a checkbox on each taxpayers 1040 tax form. If the taxpayers want their taxes to go towards "reparations" they will check those boxes. If not, then they won't.
The checkbox tally will elucidate the taxpayers' feelings as to existence of "systemic racism." Will the Democrats DARE to let the taxpayers decide? NO CHANCE!

That's on top of the 22+ trillion already spent to eliminate poverty, plus the who knows what number of federal and state programs set aside for minorities. Meanwhile, getting an education, staying out of trouble, and working to better one's self for some reason escapes the thought of a great number of minorities who think those of us on the pale side had everything given to us.

There is no " systemic racism". This is a vote grab and its disgusting pandering. " Economic Justice Act " ? Go to school, learn a trade, a skill, get a job. Work. There already is affirmative action. Been around for decades. They are not due " reparations " for being stupid or lazy or both.

If these loathsome bums wish to reach into THEIR OWN pockets and thereby fully fund this effort, well, ok I guess. Their conscience, their money, their illusion of atonement for vaguely attributable sins. Whatever. That does NOT empower them to reach into the public treasury, containing the portion of OUR labor and efforts, so that THEY can feel good about their own civic "virtue" (are we still permitted to use that word?) and sense of superiority over the "deplorables". What is being proposed is little more than embezzlement. Time for the tumbrels.

The Free Stuff is taken for granted after so many generations, so now the Dems want to give them more.
"These Negroes, they’re getting pretty uppity these days and that’s a problem for us since they’ve got something now they never had before, the political pull to back up their uppityness. Now we’ve got to do something about this, we’ve got to give them a little something, just enough to quiet them down, not enough to make a difference.”

Sure for anyone that is currently held as a slave and working on a plantation picking cotton, let them text their address to 1800fu. We'll send out a social worker to assess the situation and determine the amount of compensation to which they are entitled, less the cost of administration and processing of the claim, and less the claimant's prorata share of welfare and affirmative action payments that have been paid to anyone in the USA since 1965.

If the Dems spent any effort at all to discourage young black girls from becoming mothers without husbands, the effect would be noticeable. If the black people of influence in the black community would encourage marriage before children, the result would be transformative. As L-dotters know, the family is the bedrock of civilization. When LBJ enacted his Great Society programs to replace the black man as the black families' means of support, the illegitimacy rate among the blacks skyrocketed. Even if a woman had a man willing and able to support her and her kids, she was better off financially by staying unmarried.
Creating an environment in which black children, especially boys, are raised by the State rather than by a father in the home, is the most racist act of aggression imaginable.

I like the idea #5, but it needs to be taken one step further - only those who check the box in favor of reparations will be forced to pay them. The rest of us will opt out by not checking the box. Then let’s see who is truly in favor.

Don't they get it? For a certain segment of society, NOTHING will ever be enough to atone for slavery. No legislation, no election of a black president, no percentage, no quota, no dollar amount of reparations. Nothing. And those who insist we continue to try to elevate black men and women because they are doomed to perpetual victimhood are by no means all black!

No, they intend to CREATE much more systemic racism - aimed right at whites.
Racism will be INCREASING, you just watch. Racism against whites, Asians, and in favor of blacks and Hispanics. THAT is what they really want.

You gotta hand it to the dems, who know how to play the political game. The measure is on the record and the media will put it squarely in the lap of the Republicans to accept, at least partially if not in full. Anything short of that - they're all racists.

Why not spend it on Climate Change? Neither concept is a reality that can be fixed except to put the people who worry about it out of their misery. Note the carefully worded "down payment" which will result in never ending payments.

Trying to hand 40 million Black folks taxpayer’s money in the amounts indicated could well bring on a second Boston Tea Party and Civil War once they try taxing Americans whose ancestors had nothing to do with slavery.

A country all torn up and all black people get is a pitiful $350 billion down payment. The black wealthy in this country could donate that much. The "down payment sounds like all that every four year stuff leftists have been promising and producing for almost a century. Child care, mental health, primary care, and jobs, aka more control over your lives from cradle to grave. And cradle to grave sooner rather than later.

How do we know reparations won't lift up blacks?
Look at the NBA.
It is vainly trying to put the players into a bubble so they can be coid-free to play this season.
Black players keep sneaking out of the bubble.
Covid in the NBA players is multiplying.
Gee, I wonder why.
