L.A. teachers union says schools
can't reopen unless charter schools
get shut down, police defunded

A major teachers union is claiming that the re-opening of schools in its district cannot occur without several substantial policy provisions in place, including a "moratorium" on charter schools and the defunding of local police. United Teachers Los Angeles, a 35,000-strong union in the Los Angeles Unified School District, made those demands in a policy paper it released this week. The organization called on local authorities to "keep school campuses closed when the semester begins on Aug. 18." The union outlined numerous major provisions it says will be necessary to reopen schools again, including sequestering students

I am quite sure the teachers have been getting paid all during this shutdown. With this move by their union, all pay and benefits should stop as of right now, and not start up again until school starts. No unemployment benefits for the teachers or any union workers either. Those lazy bass terds need a taste of what the general public has been receiving lately.

Remember what the head of the teacher's union stated when asked about the students: 'we'll be concerned about them when they have the right to vote.' So, between not voting, and not paying any union dues (which go directly to democRAT pockets, the 'children' are not anywhere on their list of concerns.

Of course, they’re serious. The corrupt .teacher’s Union OWNS the schools, teachers and you kids’ futures! They are an activist group with very nefarious interests. Look at who they fund! Trans whatever, PP, immigration of any and everybody, why, they sell “insurance” to their teachers but hardly ever step up to defend them. They need to be dissolved!

Students are not any more vulnerable to COVID-19 then to influenza. That is the science. Open the schools. Expand charter schools to meet the demand. There are plenty of landlords with empty buildings that would like house them in exchange for rent. Ideally as long as the lock down is in place no government worker should be paid and all benefits suspended.

These demands have nothing to do with educating students. This is nothing but left wing radical blackmail. The planting of radical seeds is now starting to bare fruit. The union doesn't like charter schools. Why? Competition. The demand for defunding the police because of the murder of blacks? The numbers do not support that charge. The union does not follow the carnage that goes on in Chicago every weekend. Double digit victims shot. Double digit murders. many of them young people. And the underlying factor in 90% percent of these crimes. Black on black crimes. Blacks killing blacks. That's the problem that no one wants to talk about. I'd be curious to find out where the union gets its funds from? Mr. Soros maybe?

LA teachers have done a poor job of educating their students, yet they demand that charter schools be curtailed so parents of those students have no alternative opportunity for a quality education for their students. Charter schools should be promoted as a way to provide alternative, quality education for minority students.

Public school teachers are some of the most ignorant people you will ever run across. I think it was Voltaire who was reported to have earned money as a piano teacher by staying one lesson ahead of his students. Same thing with many public school teachers. They are not repositories of vast knowledge on their topic. They are a few steps ahead of the immature children they teach.

A person of my close aquantence taught in both a charter school and a public school. With the charter only extending to 6th grade, she said the charter students are going to be bored with they have to transfer. They would be going over material they knew, only waiting for the others to catch up, which some would never do completely. The charter was disciplined, studious, and loving. The public school was much less disciplined; it was noisy, chaotic at times. There is variety in both types of schools, but on average, I suspect this is a common situation.

Well there you go. Anyone surprised? I once sat on a school board and was incredibly disappointed to discover that their agenda had absolutely nothing to do with children or curriculum. It was all about money and influence. School children have been ignored for a very long time. Have you ever heard teachers interviewed during one of their marches while on strike. They are required to have teaching degrees from accredited colleges and seem barely able to express themselves. It is appalling and only getting worse.

Defund the teachers' unions. These groups of democrat voters put money first and the education of children last. Many small towns have nearly gone bankrupt while being squeezed for money to build new schools, pay high salaries and benefits to too many teachers and being forced to support the democrat party through property taxes.

First re-outlaw all public sector (includes teachers) unions and everything else will follow. Union thugs led by the left have been running the country since the sainted martyr signed an EO allowing them. They have been pushing us leftward and deliberately mis-informing our school children for three generations and counting. Kids can't do simple arithmetic or sign even sign their own names -- forget history -- they get the left's version of it.

Think about it. Now teachers unions are putting demands in our cities. You see, these communist coul care less about your children. Sure get rid of Charter Schools which are in direct competition with public schools. Its easier to indoctrinate your kids when they're all under the same umbrella. Now they even want to control the police. This is what unions do. All they do is disrupt, collect their dues and with your dues they support every communist campaign. This is how they suppress blacks in democratic/communist cities like Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore and others. They refuse to give black kids school choice. Keep'em dumb and you keep their vote. Its been working for over 60 years. Wake up...

An education apparatus that delivers such poor results is in no position to make demands. The leftists are currently emboldened by the lack of a response towards rioters who can deface and destroy with impunity anything between a statue of Frederick Douglass and one of a kitchen sink. Classroom teachers and brick and mortar schools are no longer the only game in town. First, YES, they are serious, and it's about getting rid of any sort of competition. Charter schools are popular with Hispanic and African-American parents looking for a better opportunity for their child. This could be a winning slogan asking why they don't want your child to have the best chance for success? Also, this would present a good time to talk about breaking up the excessively large LAUSD system, and use a lot of the same rhetoric about not being truly representative.

To be clear, the request here isn’t to let Pennsylvania voters mail ballots after polls close. They need to be postmarked before then. The request is to have the court extend the deadline for when ballots need to be received in order to be counted, which by law is 8 p.m. on Election Day. Right now, the Postal Service recommends that ballots be mailed a full week before Election Day, i.e. October 27, in order to ensure that they’re received on time. But Pennsylvania law allows voters to *apply* for a ballot up until October 27. That means many voters won’t even have ballots

PG&E said its outages, directed by the California Independent System Operator, are expected to impact up to 250,000 customers at a time in rotations of one hour each.

Despite the best-friend bond Joe Biden touts with former President Obama, tensions have lingered between the two statesmen over their vastly different governing styles, according to a Politico report. To start, a number of anonymously sourced quotes from Obama leaked out throughout the 2020 Biden campaign where the former president allegedly expressed doubts about his former running mates’ fitness for office. “Don’t underestimate Joe’s ability to f--k things up,” one Democrat who spoke to the former president recalled him saying. When lamenting his own diminishing relationship with the current Democratic electorate, particularly in Iowa, Obama reportedly told one 2020 candidate: “And you know who really doesn’t have it? In fact, AP had sounded the alarm on the miscount as early as May.

It is no secret but public knowledge that Kamala Harris slept her way up into California political life by being a very public escort and mattress for California Democrat Kingmaker Willie Brown. Willie Brown is 30 years older than Harris and was very married at the time. It was public. It was an embarrassment. With Joe Biden’s photo metaphorically the definition of the 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, voters will decide in November whether they want Harris to be their president some time in the next four years. Of almost equally significant concern is what Harris represents to hard-working women across the country who devote years to their careers

The Biden-Harris ticket is upside down. That’s our first reaction to the news that Vice President Biden has chosen the junior senator from California, Kamala Harris, to be his running mate. That makes a ticket where the vice presidential candidate seems, at least to us, to be of a more presidential personality than the elder statesman from Delaware. The more typical formulation is the young, ambitious executive type at the top of the ticket. To see how odd this ticket really looks, imagine that in 2008 the ticket had been Biden-Obama. It would have gone down in flames. The trailblazing personality, the creative spirit, belonged to the younger man.

While the economies of all major countries took a blow by forced closures during the coronavirus pandemic, the United Kingdom has been hit the hardest. Economic output in the U.K. shrank by 20.4% in the second quarter of 2020. The dip in GDP is the worst economic quarter that has been recorded by the U.K. since such records began to be kept in 1955. The decline also follows a weak economic performance in the first quarter of 2020, during which the country's GDP declined by 2.2%. "Today's figures confirm that hard times are here," U.K. finance minister Rishi Sunak said. "Hundreds of thousands of people have already lost their jobs,

A new poll indicates that voters would favor a 2024 presidential election between Democratic New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and Republic Senator Mitt Romney. The poll released Thursday by Canadian polling firm Leger surveyed over 1,000 registered U.S. voters who listed the candidates as their top choices for GOP and Democratic nominations. Neither of the current candidates, President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden, were listed as choices.

Barr stated that the development is “not an earth-shattering development, but it is an indication that things are moving along at the proper pace, as dictated by the facts in this investigation.” Barr also vowed that there will be “significant developments” in the Durham probe prior to the 2020 election and maintained that the investigation is not being done on any schedule that relates to the election.Barr said, “I’ve said, there are going to be developments, significant developments

Prominent Democratic donor George Soros called President Donald Trump “dangerous” and asserted that Trump would do “anything to stay in power,” in a wide-ranging interview Tuesday with Italian newspaper La Repubblica. The 90-year-old Hungarian-American and billionaire philanthropist told La Repubblica that Trump is a “confidence trickster” who unexpectedly won the 2016 U.S. election and was inadvertently working to “undermine democracy from within,” per a translation of the interview on George Soros’ website. (Tweet) Soros added that Trump was a mere “transitory phenomenon” suggesting that his ascension to power was an anomalous four-year period in U.S. history

Kamala Harris Slept Her Way Up

It is no secret but public knowledge that Kamala Harris slept her way up into California political life by being a very public escort and mattress for California Democrat Kingmaker Willie Brown. Willie Brown is 30 years older than Harris and was very married at the time. It was public. It was an embarrassment. With Joe Biden’s photo metaphorically the definition of the 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, voters will decide in November whether they want Harris to be their president some time in the next four years. Of almost equally significant concern is what Harris represents to hard-working women across the country who devote years to their careers

President Trump continues to be his own worst enemy: On Thursday, he stooped to calling presumptive vice-presidential nominee Kamala Harris a “mad woman.” That doesn’t promote his agenda. It doesn’t help him with women. It doesn’t shore up his image as worthy of the nation’s highest office. It’s just, as Trump would say, mean and nasty. Sure, Harris isn’t the first target of Trump’s ad hominem attacks or over-the-top language. But making everything personal is unbecoming. It turns off voters who like his policies but dislike his rhetoric.

Last night a group of anti-gentrification protesters in Seattle marched through a section of town for a couple hours to complain that white people were living on stolen land. Well, not stolen exactly. They aren’t claiming the black people who used to live in this neighborhood were pushed out at gunpoint. But they are claiming that an injustice has taken place because white people are now living in new homes in this formerly black neighborhood. The crowd of maybe 50 people was marching down the street after dark chanting “Black people used to live here!”

Commuters driving into downtown Boise the morning of Aug. 13 may have seen a new colorful billboard sign that reads “Black & Brown Folks Built This Country / (And We’re Doing It Again) / Join Us Or Get Out Of The Way.” It’s a strong phrase, and activist/organizer Tanisha Jae Newton said they are radically unapologetic about it. “This message is for folks within impacted communities to know that people recognize them and see them and their power,” said Newton. “These communities need hope and empowerment.”

On Monday, all of America reeled at the sight of Chicago's Magnificent Mile being pillaged by roaming bands of thieves, who seemed to move with abandon through the city's downtown. Just one week prior, news networks spread similar images of a shootout in front of high-end boutiques on Oak Street. To downtown residents like Gary Hebding, it was no surprise. Hebding said he has seen continued crime downtown in recent months. "This is never something I've seen before in the four years that I've lived here," he said. "Those incidents are coming here downtown, and they are happening right here

MSNBC “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski repeatedly ranted throughout Friday’s broadcast of the show over everything Donald Trump, suggesting that he was intentionally letting people die from COVID-19. Brzezinski, who appeared to be in a near state of rage throughout the show, repeatedly berated the president with names, and later, at the end of the show, said, “If you’re sensing a little intensity here, I’m a little amped up because this is an emergency.” The video clip below, compiled by Grabien News founder Tom Elliott, is a supercut video that shows the highlights from Brzezinski’s ravings. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) broke with President Trump on Friday by saying there is no debate over whether Sen. Kamala Harris is a U.S. citizen, remarks that came after the president encouraged a conspiracy theory that the California Democrat may not be eligible to serve as vice president because her parents are immigrants. In a pair of tweets, Graham, a frequent defender of Trump, said he disagreed with Harris on “plenty of issues,” calling her “one of the most liberal members of the U.S. Senate.” But he said there should be no debate over her citizenship status.

A Virginia mayor has apologized for saying Joe Biden “just announced Aunt Jemima” as his running mate, saying he now understands his words were hurtful and inappropriate. Luray Mayor Barry Presgraves, 77, said he was sorry at a town council meeting on Monday for the Aug. 2 Facebook post that was later removed — but not before a council member, town officials and residents in the community called for the three-term mayor to step down. “I understand what I posted on social media was wrong, offensive and unbecoming,” Presgraves said during the meeting, WTOP reports. “I also want to make a direct apology to all people of color and women.

WASHINGTON — A former F.B.I. lawyer intends to plead guilty to falsifying a document as part of a deal with prosecutors conducting their own criminal inquiry of the Russia investigation, according to three people familiar with the case. The lawyer, Kevin Clinesmith, 38, who was assigned to the Russia investigation, plans to admit that he altered an email from the C.I.A. that investigators relied on to seek renewed court permission in 2017 for a secret wiretap on the former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page, who had at times provided information to the spy agency. Mr. Clinesmith’s lawyers said he made a mistake while trying to clarify facts for a colleague,
