“Hushpuppi,” a Nigerian scammer suspected of trying to launder hundreds of millions of dollars, was taken into FBI custody in Chicago on Thursday evening. Ramon Olorunwa Abbas, a.k.a. “Ray Hushpuppi” and “Hush,” a Nigerian national, had just been expelled from the United Arab Emirates for various suspected crimes after his arrest last week. The U.S. Attorney’s Office says that Abbas will face criminal charges “alleging he conspired to launder hundreds of millions of dollars from business email compromise (BEC) frauds and other scams, including schemes targeting a U.S. law firm, a foreign bank and an English Premier League soccer club.”

It's always a good thing when a thieving scammer goes down. There must be some reason to riot somewhere in this arrest. I wouldn't drive a purple Rolls if it was given to me. What a putz.

It's a shame that these scammers are giving a bad name to the real Nigerian princes. They're among the finest groups of people I've ever known.

I tell you what ...When the FBI and Justice Department put their full combined investigatory weight behind something, things happen fast. They were probably able to act because the end of the Roger Stone/General Flynn cases freed up the manpower they needed to get the job done. I'm surprised they were able to arrest him, though because aren't princes and other royalty immune from prosecution? I think Andrew Saxe-Cornburg-Batburg-Windsor might be a little scarce in the colonies in the future.

A major teachers union is claiming that the re-opening of schools in its district cannot occur without several substantial policy provisions in place, including a "moratorium" on charter schools and the defunding of local police. United Teachers Los Angeles, a 35,000-strong union in the Los Angeles Unified School District, made those demands in a policy paper it released this week. The organization called on local authorities to "keep school campuses closed when the semester begins on Aug. 18." The union outlined numerous major provisions it says will be necessary to reopen schools again, including sequestering students

In August 2019, Caroline Biden, 33, a niece of former Vice President Biden, was busted in Lower Merion Township, Penn., for driving under the influence and without a license, public records show. While the case is active, it’s unlikely Caroline will face much in the way of consequences — if history and Biden family rap sheets are any guide. Her arrest, which was never made public, was at least the ninth among Joe Biden’s close family, and followed incidents involving his brother Frank, his son Hunter and his daughter Ashley.

They say tragedies always come in threes, and so far 2020 is notable for a total, months-long shutdown of the country due to a global pandemic that was followed by violent riots sweeping across more than seven hundred cities. With half the year still left, I am not anxious to see what the third panel of this Bosch triptych is going to be. Nonetheless, it feels odd that many people don’t seem to realize these two events are directly related. I remember back at the very end of the Reagan presidency when R. Emmett Tyrrell proposed in the pages of the American Spectator that Reagan be added to Mount Rushmore, just to watch liberals have an embolism. Well, now that the left wants to take down Mount Rushmore for the sin of being built on “unceded native American land” plus slave-owning (Washington, Jefferson), colonialism (TR), and all-around hatred for greatness (Lincoln), the time has obviously come for us to call for replacing those four with Trump—just Trump. You think leftists are crazy now. . .

This week the Supreme Court issued its final decisions of the 2020 term on cases about President Trump's tax returns. While the results of the decisions in Trump v. Mazars and Trump v. Vance were mixed, the narrative has been heavily saturated with arguments the rulings were about President Trump "not being above the law" and limiting executive power. But written clearly in the Mazars opinion, which was about whether congressional committees have the authority to access President Trump's personal financial records, it's clear the decision by the justices wasn't simply about limiting executive power, but also the power of Congress.

PHILADELPHIA — President Trump was the last line of defense between law-abiding people and a dangerous, left-wing mob intent on toppling statues and ripping the nation apart, according to Vice President Mike Pence. “When rioters were setting fire to one of the oldest churches in America and defacing our national monuments, Joe Biden sent out a press release. President Trump sent in the National Guard,” Pence said Thursday in an exclusive interview aboard his campaign bus with the Washington Examiner. “The contrast with Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi is, this is a president who understands our commitment is to uphold the rule of law — law and order,” said Pence,

It’s clear that Joe Biden is showing signs of mental aging: his speech is garbled, his sentences diverge into asides without coherence, and his numbers and names are scrambled in laughable ways (“We have 120 million dead from COVID!” he informed Americans last month). Biden, who was first elected to the Senate 48 years ago, has been known for decades for his verbal gaffes. Democrats usually exploit this flaw to explain away their presidential candidate’s confused speech, claiming his lackluster abilities are evidence of a life-long quirk rather than a sign of cognitive decline. “It’s not a product of age; it’s just who he is,”

As street violence spikes in big cities across America run by Democrats, as parents grieve the loss of their children in the street gang wars, two things become terribly clear: The first is that Black Lives Matter isn’t promoting much, if any, public outrage at city halls run by Democratic Party mayors over urban street violence that is out of control. BLM isn’t a movement as much as it is a political and fundraising arm, founded by neo-Marxists, and currently aligned with the Democratic Party. BLM sees no percentage in pressuring big-city mayors to stop street violence.

As we have seen over the past week, the president is eager to frame this election as a war over the symbols, monuments and statues that celebrate America’s historic figures. Joe Biden’s radical proposal for the Democrat Party platform for 2020 seeks to put an end to America’s suburban communities by forcing low-income housing into every neighborhood and flooding every community with immigrants, legal or otherwise. The proposal, known as the Biden-Sanders Unity Task Force Recommendations, would provide instant amnesty and a pathway to U.S. citizenship for the 22 million illegal aliens now living in the nation. Astoundingly, it would also give legal status to all the world’s refugees regardless of the legitimacy of their claim to the status.
