No thought of arming up and defending your business I guess.

I'm still not sure why social media posts make people panic. There is no appeasing them so why even try? This BBQ place not only gave-up the order for the police, but probably angered some regular customers who heard they canceled the event out of fear.

Just like the Mafia - - but without the charm.
Where are those "99%" honest FBI agents when we need them?

Making terroristic threats is against the law. Or is that not on the books anymore?

Accepting the order may not have been a political statement but canceling the order is.

Isn't that terrorism? Blackmail?

just telling Mr Lucky the other night - businesses and corporations are falling in line with BLM and Antifa because they "don't want trouble". For a big corporation this could mean boycotts, demonstrations, harassment of employees, etc etc. For a small business such as a local restaurant it could be all of the above plus fire threat or fake food poisoning claims/lawsuits or sabotage.

I would think the cops would show up for their protection. If you give in the just get embolden and feel unstoppable and who knows what they will do next. Never give in and never back down. The BBQ place could put the call out for volunteers to man security around the clock. There is a solution. The wrong solution is to give in to fear. They are terrorists and fear is their stock in trade.

Gee...I wonder if this political choice in response to vacuous threats by bullies will slow response times by the local constabulary to any 911 calls from that establishment...I'm sorry this small business was inadvertently put in the crosshairs, but such is the way of our country today and the pushback has to start somewhere.
It's getting to the point where you must choose sides because this whirlwind will eventually come for us all if we do not stand literally, figuratively, metaphorically, whimsically, but in all ways with a strong heart and a clear eye. I will not give into the North American Taliban. How about you?
And dang, just when I was considering a move to Tennessee from the shiite-hole state of New Mexico. Little Gov. Stompy Foot Grusome is doing a great job of Pelosi's bidding out here...

Threats on social media, but Trump and conservatives get censored.
Yes, making threats is in fact illegal, if not a crime.

Guess Shuford’s Smoke House didn't want to pay the "insurance". Mistake because they will still come for their take.

poster 10, as in all moves - you have to take locale into consideration. we're not all crazy!! stay away from the cities, look at small towns where you can still find people who value their local constabulary, churches, schools and neighborhoods.
of course, if work dictates that you must be in a large urban area then you're stuck with all the related liberal nonsense no matter what state you choose.

Besides being a threat to the owners of the business, is this not a form of extortion?
This business was denied the ability of a sale.
Did those making the threat come to the establishment, buy food, and make up for their lost revenue?

Some suggest that the restaurant owners arm up and defend their property. But that could land them in the clink, depending on state laws and local regulations, or at least with a hefty fine. And they could be risking their lives, depending on how skilled they are at marksmanship and how many protesters show up.
It is not cowardly to say that it isn't worth the risk. I wouldn't risk my life over a BBQ sandwich. I wouldn't risk the lives of my employees either.
Rather than tell the owners to man up, I'd like an answer to this question: Where is law enforcement and why aren't they arresting the persons responsible for the threat against the business?

Were a local business I customed to do something so blatantly craven I would never darken their door again. There are more than a few around here who have acted disgracefully in this whole BLM stupidity that I will never give them another dime. They are so woke they don't need my racist money anyway. And I have a long memory and hold a grudge.
These businesses need to learn the only color that matters when it come to paying the bills is GREEN!

It "became publicly known" that they had this catering job. HOW? how did this job order become known?
And all the comments here are so right regarding the terroristic threats made against private and public events.
Start calling Congressmen, of both Parties, and express our disgust. They must be voted out.

The day has arrived for choosing. You either knuckle under to the mob or stand up for what is right. There is absolutely nothing wrong in serving law enforcement. They should be proud that they were asked to cater the event. Instead, they turned tail and ran. This is beyond disturbing and so very disappointing. A mob will always try to intimidate people and they will not stop until someone stands up to them. I would have catered it for free!

A restaurant, after being shuttered due to Covid, now these poor people are being threatened with destruction of their business. When your on your own, you try to protect you and yours. Hold your negative comments until we see what response Krispy Creme and Dunkin Donuts become the next on the target list for selling donuts to shift police.

At some point, there has to be a stop to this. I don't know about Tennessee but Georgia has a law against making terroristic threats. It certainly applies here.
(c) A person convicted of the offense of a terroristic threat shall be punished by a fine of not more than $1,000.00 or by imprisonment for not less than one nor more than five years, or both. A person convicted of the offense of a terroristic act shall be punished by a fine of not more than $5,000.00 or by imprisonment for not less than one nor more than ten years, or both; provided, however, that if any person suffers a serious physical injury as a direct result of an act giving rise to a conviction under this Code section, the person so convicted shall be punished by a fine of not more than $250,000.00 or imprisonment for not less than five nor more than 40 years, or both.
