The University of Virginia changed its athletics logo for the second time in less that two months after realizing that the last version had connotations to the school's slavery past. A new logo unveiled this week lacks the curls added to the handles of the sabers which have come to represent the school's Cavaliers athletics department. The sabers now have smooth handles. The Charlottesville school's athletics director Carla Williams says she did not realize at the time the previous logo was introduced on April 24 that it had a 'negative connotation' to slavery. The curls recall the serpentine garden walls that were once

Thank God! How many people would have gone through life traumatized if Athletic Supporter WIlliams hadn't seen and corrected that obvious reference to slavery? Oh, the horror! Oh, the humanity!

These people see connotations of slavery and racism in everything. It's good that they can't ban the sun and the moon, because they both shined down on slaves!

So...some nitwit student feels "emotional " disturbances when walking past a beautiful serpentine wall. She also probably avoids stepping on sidewalk cracks so as not to break her mother's back. The few remaining serpentine walls at the University are a visual delight though it is unlikely that any of the original ones remain. We were once reminded that sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. Likewise, sometimes a serpentine wall is just a serpentine wall.

Usually every edged weapon has a cord wrapped grip. This is absurd and giving in to lunatics is a never ending stupid dance with lawyers and parasites looking for attention and a payoff.

The interesting aspect of the serpentine walls is that Jefferson used a simple engineering principle to bring stability to one constructed with a single layer of bricks. As a graduate student at UVA many years ago, that is all that was said about them - an engineering marvel.

Who lays awake nights coming up with these fictions?
Lunacy. No connection to rational thought.

Not good enough. The entire school must be bulldozed, replanted in native grasses and all white graduates of UVA taxed at 95% of total wealth to repay for these sins. That is after they are sent to re-education camps to correct their inappropriate thoughts and prepare them for a life of manual labor at the people’s work camps.

The State of Virginia was named in 1584 in honor of Queen Elizabeth of England, who was popularly called the "Virgin Queen." She reigned over an empire that had plenty of slaves. Also "Virgin Queen" should be deemed sexist to all those SJWs. Best to re-name the entire state to avoid offending someone.

Might as well make the Logo just like the Obama Logo in Brown...you know, the one that sorta has flag colors but is really the south end of a north bound mule!

"Every single day, black students, staff, faculty, and community members walk by those walls, the bricks with our enslaved ancestors' fingerprints in them,"
Walls that were built in the 1950s.
Who was enslaved then?

And all this time I thought those were saber grips. I reckon I'll have to remove the handle bar grips from the grand kids' tricycles lest some educated black woman is offended by them

Don’t stop there! Just go ahead and shut down the entire athletics department. Start with the football team.

Actually, the grips on most swords were spiral wrapped in leather and over wrapped with twisted wire to insure a good grip when wielding the sword.
