LONDON– Workmen began removing protective hoarding around a statue of Britain’s wartime leader Winston Churchill on Wednesday ahead of a visit from French President Emmanuel Macron, after the monument was covered up during racial equality protests. London Mayor Sadiq Khan’s office confirmed the uncovering was linked to Macron’s visit, which marks the 80th anniversary of General Charles de Gaulle’s radio address to France after the Nazi invasion in 1940, broadcast from London by the BBC. The plinth of Churchill’s statue outside parliament was daubed with graffiti that said “Churchill was a racist” during a Black Lives Matter march 10 days ago. The authorities feared it was at risk

In terms of free speech and the defense thereof, this month has been one of the worst in our nation's history. Those who don't kowtow to either the street mob or the Twitterati regarding the George Floyd controversy are finding themselves canceled, fired, and socially exiled for life. Democratic California Sen. Kamala Harris is widely considered a favorite to be presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s running mate, but an old line of attack could prevent her from getting the nod. Harris is one of six Democratic women reportedly being considered for the vice presidential nomination, alongside former Obama National Security Adviser Susan Rice, Florida Rep. Val Demings, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
