Let me be blunt - I have a real problem being told about my supposed subconscious racism. There are some real racists still around, of every skin color, but assuredly I’m not one of them. My wife and stepson (and large family of in-laws) are Asian, my goddaughter is black, and there is no need to further list friends and associates who may be of different hues. I treat everyone I know or may meet in a friendly, fair and equitable manner, unless or until they give me a concrete reason to act differently.
I’m a pretty simple guy at heart, so let’s not make the world any more complicated.

Is it just me, or is anybody else sick and tired of Whites in corporate America talking to all people of color like they are developmentally disabled, Gold Medal Special Olympians?

What an idiot. This guy claims to not be a racist. That just proves that he IS a racist.

I won't apologize, and I won't explain. This sort of stuff is as lame as "some of my best friends are black."

Even if his wife, god child and extended family were all lily white, he has a right to say and write what he did. Enough is enough.

Libs not only torture the language to avoid being held accountable....but they also know the secret, encoded, dog whistle meanings in everything spoken by a Conservative. It is my privilege to be a naturalized American who was thrilled to get a job digging ditches at age 13......and become a plumbing contractor by simply paying attention.
BTW----I know more women plumbers than black.
Same for the oil-field and other 'dangerous' pursuits.
Oh..sorry...paying attention is so out of fashion.

It was inevitable that as society moved forward to eliminate racist actions and reform institutions that new forms of "racism" would appear. After all, all those 'academics' in various grievance studies depts had to be doing something with their time, right? And there are the Sharptons of the world who have no interest in getting a real job.
Combine Original Sin with gauzy accusation and you've got...'institutional racism' and 'white privilege.' It can't be disproven, because there's nothing there.
I'm committed to a colorblind society. This nonsense is NOT that. I reject the racist label.

When I was growing up, I was exposed to so many cultures that I just accepted them as all a part of God's bigger picture. I think that is a big part of the problem right now with the Left. They do not acknowledge God, and they do not see that what we are shunning/avoiding as Christians/moral people is not the sinner, it is the SIN. As God tells us to do in His word.
Most of the tantrums about racism coming from the Left are projection of their own thinking/behavior anyway. They are being confronted with the very harsh reality that their policies and tradition of embracing all behaviors no matter how immoral is biting them hard in the cold light of day. God does not embrace or support virtue signalling.
Bingo to #3. The Left does indeed practice the bigotry of low expectations when it comes to minorities. When you do not expect the best from people, all you are going to get is their worst.

So here's the problem. I, too, was raised to be colorblind. That was the mantra of the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90's. But then I heard Oprah say "If you don't see color, you don't see ME." OK, so then I thought I'm supposed to see color.
I'm fine as a Person of No Color doing whatever it is that Persons of Color think I should do. Just make up your mind, please, and let me know when you get it all sorted out. Until then you'll have to pardon my confusion.

I'm with #6 on this. Don't be defensive, be dismissive. People throw out the word "racist" with no thought behind it, only a vague idea that some rule has been broken. Help them to see that they are clueless.

Every person believes that they are a "good" person especially at a personal level and no one except hardcore white supremacists or crackpots would ever freely admit that they believe a particular "race" is inferior in some scientific or categorical way. But we are all the product of the inputs we receive, good and bad, from our life experiences and this "conditioning" causes us to react to situations and people in emotional ways that we are not even aware of on a conscious level.
The classic example is the "Jesse Jackson" test. He once admitted publicly that if he is walking down a dark street and turns around to see someone following him he is relieved when he sees that person is white and more apprehensive when he sees they are black. He doesn't know anything about the person following him so there is no reason to judge them one way or the other, just a conditioned feeling. Either one could be an escaped convict with a gun or a minister going to a church service but the reaction is predictable based on their appearance alone.
Although this is an extreme example, this subconscious effect of conditioning on our emotions happens constantly as we interact with all people. Unless we are constantly aware of its potential to bias our behavior we can react in word or deed before we are even conscious of what we are doing.

Excellent!! I was also raised colorblind, and I highly resent being called racist by people who don't know me at all!!
