NASCAR is finally showing a red flag to the Confederate flag.
In a major move for the sport of stock-car racing, NASCAR announced it is banning the Confederate flag. “The presence of the confederate flag at NASCAR events runs contrary to our commitment to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all fans, our competitors and our industry," NASCAR said in a statement on Wednesday. “Bringing people together around a love for racing and community that it creates is what makes our fans and sport special. The display of the Confederate flag will be prohibited from all NASCAR events and properties.”

Racist flags of other races who really don’t give a rat’s arse about racing will be allowed. Got it. Another sport in the trash can. Bye bye.

NASCAR banned the flag a few years ago, it was ignored.
Nobody in the stands = no flags so there's that.

All on account of one Black Racist Racer?! A path of NFL debacle and a fading of what's America, a page at a time? I guess Soccer, LaCrosse, and Ice Skating is next.

I don't care about nascar or any other sport, but it begs the question, how will they enforce it? Some overweight rent a cop is going to tell rednecks they have to put their flag away? Maybe once.

Almost pro sports are committing slow suicide.
I lost interest in NASCAR years ago with all of the format and rule changes
Sad that there is no respect for legacy/history/tradition any longer and I don't have to participate
Hang in there, Hockey!

Nascar banned Confederate flags more than 25 years ago. Mentioning it now is just more virtue signalling

Just from a freedom of speech angle, Id sneak in flags and after the race has started, bring 'em out and wave 'em.
Lefties are always crying about Freedom of Speech, but they never honor someone else's opinion. Defiance and Demonstration. Enough people do it, how are they going to stop it? Shoot us?
We are more capable than anyone in shooting back...

NASCAR, just like the National Felons League and the NBA (insert meaning here) ...... remember, they are all in the Entertainment business, and they all dance to the tune of the Entertainment Money Men.

NASCAR achieved its record fan base largely by Confederate flag-waving fans, and as such, the Confederate Battle Flag is a true icon of the sport. Now, they are ready to engage in virtue signaling, and lose the support of many of their previously loyal, enthusiastic fans. Do the NASCAR leaders think that the arsonists, rioters, and looters are going to become NASCAR fans? Do they want those lawless folks to be NASCAR fans?

I predict a 50s style revival with much more family time and less "entertainment".
Done with pro players taking the knee; done with nascar pandering; done with HBO censoring; done with tv and movies made by Hollywood perverts.

#17, I assume the first time they do it to a heavily armed homeowner who blows them away defending his property, that will definitely put a "damper" on their friends trying it again!!!

NASCAR is making a bet that it can replace any rednecks who decide to walk away. It's a business. Don't like it, don't patronize.

#11, if you had ever actually driven a NASCAR racing car on a banked oval racetrack with no restrictions on you, you would knows that your comment shows that you know nothing about the topic. If you were to do what you said, you won't even make half a lap.
I have driven those cars on those tracks, and it is pretty challenging to do at speed. Things happen very quickly at 170 mph.

I never ever noticed a problem with the flag and the fans. Not a single one. Hope they like low ratings and empty stands, because the leadership of NASCAR just jumped the shark, all thanks to Bubba Wallace.

Went to the Bristol race for years. My buddies and I gave up when NASCAR embraced ‘Ethanal ’ In their fuel.
Bristol night race was the hardest ticket to get for any race they run, waiting list was years long. Last year at least 1/3 of the seats were empty. Two left turns too many for me...

I have always associated the confederate battle flag with the dukes of Hazard, rather than the Civil War. And I suspect tere are many others like me.
(I'm not a fan of NASCAR - too noisy.)

Outlaw tracks are more fun anyway. The drivers are there to compete, not to kiss the sponsor's rear end.

Unless it is put on the race car or the driver's or crew's uniforms, or flown over the speedway, then it's not part of the sport. So what NASCAR is indulging in is censorship of thought, the fascist SOBs. They really ought to pay more attention to who patronizes their product, than people who have probably never been to a NASCAR race in their lives.

I actually don't think it will hurt a person to do something other than glue themselves to the tv. The entertainment industry has been rewarded so richly but now they want to start pointing fingers at everyone around them. Of course, the entertainment industry would never point a finger at themselves. Of course not. Yet, they could have been practicing equality many years ago.
So, yeah, there are many things we can be doing besides tv, sports events etc.

It will be interesting to see if the number of fans they lose will be replaced by black people. I kinda doubt it. You would have thought they would have learned from the NFL.
