During the Iraq War, the insurgency spent a lot of its resources attacking infrastructure, particularly the electrical grid. This made life miserable for ordinary Iraqis.(Snip)But making life uncertain and unbearable means that even if the insurgents cannot win, they ensure the regime cannot win either. The cultivation of chaos exposes the government as ineffective and ultimately removes its legitimacy.(Snip) active-duty Army general and current Joint Chiefs chairman Mike Milley implied that the proposed use of the military to stop riots would violate an unwritten code, warning his subordinates that “we all committed our lives to the idea that is America(Snip)
While this all sounds very idealistic, it is mostly middlebrow horseshit.

MIlley self-identified as an ignoramous, or someone who thinks we are, concerning history, since the military has been used several times in the past 50 years.

The retired generais who have weighed in against the President have overlooked a coup, the framing of Flynn, the destruction of military effectiveness under Obama and his orchestration of the coup, and a BS impeachment...Mattis started with a flat out lie of Peaceful Protests and then continued his pathetic ad hominem attack...active duty forces as Barr and Esper said should be used as a last resort but we're placed in Washington(a battalion from the 82nd) because there was fear the National Guard would be overrun...finally any active duty generals beware of becoming a pawn in this game with thoughts of becoming Cromwell...it is a VERY DANGEROUS GAME YOU PLAY

From the article: "But riots, combined with media support, big business support, local government support, organized Antifa groups, billionaire financiers, and a conspiracy against the president by factions within the government, is something both new and dangerous." It appears that the president's response to the rebellion within his administration, combined with the curious do-nothing inertia of the people who elected him, has only served to ensure that the Senate will no longer back him in the event of another impeachment. Romney is probably counting on Removal before November; hence, his "progressive republican" shadow campaigning to be the last minute GOP nominee.

I’m real disappointed in Mattis. I thought he was a patriot. I was wrong,

Those General Officers are just a bunch of unelected military based politicians, name one of them who has actually fought and won a war since the 9/11 attacks?
Remember President Trump has always been against the US military being involved in endless Middle East Wars. In contrast those General Officers have never seen a Middle East War that they did not the US military to be involved in and remain in as long as possible.
If those endless Middle East Wars had not been going on for so long, it is doubtful that most of those Generals, who reached high rank during the Obama era, would ever have been promoted up to the four star rank. The USA being stuck in those wars has also been a huge “rainmaker” for military spending resulting in a lot of “Ivory Tower” building on the parts of those Generals for many years.
The falling out between President Trump and General Mattis came after Trump as the Commander in Chief ordered then Secretary of Defense Mattis to withdraw a small number of US troops from the border area separating Syria from Turkey, before an expected Turkish military attack through that area to keep those US troops from becoming casualties in expected ground battles between Syria and Turkey. The liberal media misrepresented the extent of the “leaked” Presidential order to include all US troops in Syria, and Mattis who disagreed with withdrawing those US troops from that endless Middle East War resigned as Secretary of Defense. There are still US troops in certain areas of Syria.
Clearly one of the reasons that Trump was elected was to get the USA out of those endless Middle East Wars, but clearly that will not happen if those politicized Generals have their way.

It sounds like sedition, to me.
Infuriating. Read VDH's very long piece, "Not-so-retiring Retired Military" posted here on June 7th. It's a long piece, but it exposes the venality of these men, mot of whom i understand served our country ably, but clearly, they are trying to oust DJT.

Is Miley the federal government's military Joint Chief or is he Barry's private army's Joint Chief?

Amazing article. Sums up the long march to render the military ineffective. Scary, actually.
