The Lancet is one of the world’s oldest and best-known medical journals. According to its “manifesto,” it “sets extremely high standards. We select only the best research papers for their quality of work and the progression they bring.… We recognize that a great research paper is not enough and that it requires development, mobilization and exposure. So we promise to set agendas, create context, inform leaders, start debates, and advocate for the idea that research can and will make a difference.” Pursuant to that mission statement, on May 22, 2020, the Lancet published a study ...

Comments:

How many will die because of this mathematically & scientifically flawed study ? It is grotesque. That by reviewing medical records they have concluded that HCQ & CQ do not good for patients - while on the ground & front line studies show these drugs are lifesavers. Surgisphere Corporation is suspect as it consists only 5 officers - newly formed. France has banned HCQ - mostly because the health minister is at odds with Dr. Didier Raoult who has done most of the decent research. How tragic that personality, corruption & politics has been added to make this crisis all the more difficult. God help us all!

Its more science on the order of Global Warming: a serious study showing results agreed to by a consensus of experts but produced by a non-existant or questionable source.

Reporters in the MSM neither understand nor abide by the scientific method. They quote from one or a few scientists as though what the say is true and indisputable. Challenge and dispute is inherent in the scientific method and is reconciled by use of solid, carefully collected empirical evidence. Unfortunately the public believes reporters and are thereby misled. Note that "scientists" once believed that the earth was the center of the universe. Galileo's invention of the telescope, Tycho Brahe's exhaustive celestial observations and Copernicus' analysis and interpretation of Brahe's data disproved the belief of nearly everyone, including "scientists" of his time.l MANY other examples could be cited. The scientific method requires an open mind and solid empirical evidence. Even then it is limited to the claim that a certain belief or hypothesis fits the empirical evidence to date and can therefore be useful.

This sounds like a fraud. WHO did this and at whose bequest. Is this a political game? Are some of the pharmaceutical companies developing alternative drugs playing dirty? They are playing with people's live here. The Lancet bears MAJOR responsibility for not verifying this information.

HCQ has been widely prescribed for 65 years. Hundreds of millions of prescriptions have been written for it worldwide. It's the 128th most commonly prescribed drug in the US . Some patients have taken it for their lifetimes with few or no ill effects. There hasn't been a single reported case of “arrhythmic death” according to the the W.H.O. and American College of Cardiology in all that time. It is on the W.H.O.'s list of essential medicines.

By trusting two-faced Afghani runners instead of scientific survey, Lancet created the phony "stat" that over 100,000 Afghanis had been killed during the initial days of "Shock & Awe." All of it untrue, just like this. Will HCQ and CQ be pulled from Africa? Didn't think so.

The leftists HATE Trump, and add in the desire to make a lot of money off of the pandemic by selling something expensive and patented. HCQ is old, generic, cheap - all bad for the pharma folks, and the fact that Trump mentioned "it might be a good thing" - drives many of the marginally sane, entirely over the edge, makes them willing to do ANYTHING to "resist". If it potentially helps put some $$ in their pockets, too, they'd see it as a "twofer".

The virus over reaction by governments and bureaucracies and deep state doctors has absolutely NOTHING to do with science nor with saving lives and everything to do with controlling lives. We are enjoying a purposely created world wide race war now because the Chicom virus over reaction didn't work the way the deep state planned. This article is merely more proof that a known and cheap cure for the Chicom virus cannot stand and must not be used. Dead people are merely broken eggs in the deep state's omelette.

FTA: ''There was no mention of the countries or hospitals from which the data were purportedly obtained, and the authors have DENIED REQUESTS for that information.'' (emphasis mine) This tells all you need to know about a supposedly scientific study. Any legitimate researcher would be happy to provide that information (and the rest), so that the research could be peer reviewed and validated. A scientist or researcher who hides everything except the ''results'' isn't worth wasting time on.

The root question on this topic, for me, is why The Lancet would risk what credibility it still has on such an easily discredited 'study?' In my experience, in 100% of cases, when the researchers won't share their data, methods, code, etc, they are corrupt, and therefore so is the related 'research.' The only answer is that BigPharma / Bill Gates / Other vaccine SIGs have paid them off...

Cultural Marxism, like that of the WHO, stops at nothing. They stop at nothing. Their politicization of Science has immediate consequences. To defeat President Donald Trump they deny US the only prophylactic or ambulatory treatment available for the Chinavirus. By all accounts from in the field HCQ+Azt (or doxycycline)+Zinc is curative. Fauci contradicted the President publicly during a press conference standing right next to our Great President. Michael Mann invented Model data as bad as those Of pro-China Doctors and got elected to the National Academy of Sciences this year, although with unprecedented opposition. Science should mot be used to advance a leftist agenda, but they do. Terrible for western Civilization.

In the French research of Hydroxychloroquine and Chloroquine, Dr. Didier Raoult found that these drugs work by slowing or retarding the attack of the virus on the bodies organs giving the patient's body a chance to fight back. This means the medicine needs to be administered early to do any good. In "research" showing HCQ & CQ were not effect, the medicine was not administered until after the virus had done considerable damage. In the VA report, the patients were on their death beds before receiving the medicine. This is equivalent to waiting until the house is mostly burnt down be fore trying to put out the fire. This reminds me of when "research" appeared saying Saccharine caused cancer when NutraSweet came on the market. The "research" was later proved to be so flawed that it never should have been called research.

The list of scientists who challenged the Lancet article is an interesting one. They come from all over the world and can't all be Trump supporters. In fact, one of then is Neil Ferguson, the Imperial College epidemiologist who is widely considered to be the father of the lock-downs. It did bother me, though, to see this piece accept uncritically the claim that Gregory Rigano and James Todaro are Stanford-affiliated researchers who affirmed the efficacy of HCQ. As far as I can tell, that is a bogus claim that had been accepted uncritically by our brothers on the right. Todaro is an ophthalmologist and Rigano is a lawyer with no substantial or even discernible connection with Stanford Medicine. It appears to me that one or the other might have had some oblique past connection via committee work or something similar, and attached Stanford's name to their paper as window dressing. Rigano comes across as more of a huckster than a researcher. But I don't mean to deprecate all the others who have published on this subject, like New York University.

If only mobs were allowed to destroy federal property without consequence. Then, there wouldn’t have to be any dispute over federal agents defending a federal courthouse in Portland, Ore.; it could simply be over-run and burned to the ground with no unwelcome resistance from the government. As it is, Portland’s mayor, Ted Wheeler, who presides over a city that has become a watchword over the years for left-wing thuggery unchecked by municipal authorities, has roused himself to a state of high dudgeon — over federal officers trying to counter ongoing assaults on a federal building.

Anthony Fauci on Wednesday said there's no evidence that shows the anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine is effective at treating COVID-19. "Clearly the scientific data is really quite evident now about the lack of efficacy for it," Fauci, the nation's top infectious disease doctor, said during a CNN interview. Fauci said evidence also shows the likelihood that the drug can cause severe irregular heart rhythms. "There was suspicion of that for a while, but as data comes in, it becomes more clear," Fauci said. The pronouncements mark Fauci's strongest warnings yet against the drug and puts him at odds with President Trump, who has embraced the drug as a "game changer" and a "miracle."

Harvard psychology professor Steven Pinker said Thursday that the push for reopening society from lockdowns comes from Christianity’s “malignant delusion” of belief in an afterlife. Atheists who believe in this life alone are more concerned with health and safety, Professor Pinker suggested in a Tweet, while Christians tend to devalue “actual lives” and live a riskier existence. Belief in an afterlife is a malignant delusion, since it devalues actual lives and discourages action that would make them longer, safer, and happier.
