Donald Trump in Twitter’s Lilliput

Original Article

Donald Trump has slumped badly in the polls over the last weeks. There are the usual suspects for his periodic dips: his cul de sac Twitter wars over Joe Biden, obsessing over the utter dreariness of Joe Scarborough’s past irrelevant life, the constant effects of a 93 percent negative media that blames him for everything from the economic collapse to the rioting in Minneapolis, and public frustration of nearly three months of enervating COVID-19 quarantines.Yet despite the terrible news, the odd thing is that when Trump relaxes and allows even a bleak news cycle to play out, then his policies weather well and usually help him—regardless of

I doubt seriously Mr. Trump is "slumping badly" in the hearts of Americans. Polls are just more of the phony boloney put out by the same people calling rioters "protesters."

We knew the riots would happen eventually. My question is why now? What has or is going to happen that scares the left so much that they desperately need a distraction? Trump knows.

#2 must not be aware of VDH's hero status in these parts. The man is a genius, and I've never read anything of his that's not right on point. Including this. In fact, IMHO, this is easily one of his 10 greatest pieces. I love him. (Yes, I am an embarrassing one-person fan club nerd.)

Even VDH falls for the fake polls. A good guy and a great historian but he's spent too much time in academia He still doesn't get Trump.

I love VDH, but I did find his opening disappointing. Hansen still has a twinge of "Never Trump" left over from his participation in National Review's most embarrassing issue. It surfaces every now and again, which it does in this article. He doesn't understand how Trump wields Twitter as a weapon. The Scarborough tweet was bait, probably one of many but the one the fish bit. I believe Trump was trolling for Twitter management to censure him, which they did. Their response was to "fact check" his mail-in voting tweet because to do it to the Scarborough tweet would bring more attention to a matter they want forgotten. By entering into the political debate they became a publisher, and lo and behold, AG Barr is waiting in the wings. Trump tweets everything for a reason, most especially when there seems to be no reason. Other than the Twitter blind spot, VDH is a great supporter of the president and his analysis for the rest of the article is spot on.

From the start, TV news media have done their darnedest to paint the riots happening across the country in a positive light. While many journalists have glossed over the widespread violence by relying on misleading characterizations like “mostly peaceful,” others have outright defended and justified the rioting. Some of the these attempts to sanitize the rioting have bordered on parody. For a sampling of the media’s most desperate damage control, watch the video below: (Video) Last Friday MSNBC’s Ali Velshi stood in front of a burning building and absurdly refused to describe the scene as “unruly.”

When looters threatened to bring their mayhem and destruction from the city of Chicago to my suburb on Sunday, our town’s leadership acted quickly.
