Biden's veepstakes just became a disaster

One week ago, just as it was true one year ago, Amy Klobuchar was obviously the best bet to serve as Joe Biden's running mate. A wildly popular swing state senator who had boosted her national profile with a respectable presidential run, Klobuchar clearly could cement Biden's popularity with suburban women. Those women are the key cohort who sat out in 2016, handing the White House to President Trump but crucially delivering Democrats the House of Representatives just two years later. Klobuchar fulfilled the first rule of running mates — first, do no harm — and provided an obvious advantage with the Electoral College map.

I don't agree with the writer's take. I think recent events have made it clear that Biden should select Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey as his running mate. Like Klub Kar he is from Minnesota but "scandal free", as the MSM will be quick to remind us. He is not actually a woman, but just a hormone treatment or two away. He oozes wimpy empathy, which will endear him to the Suzy Creamcheese suburban women who, we are told, make up the critical swing vote. Millennials and snowflakes will recognize him as one of their own, and the legions of brainwashed blacks will go for anything with a "D" next to its name. What could possibly go wrong?

Biden should pick the mayor of Atlanta. She came out forcefully against the riots and is a minority female. She obviously doesn't have the experience but seems just as good as the others.

I thought Sarah Huckabee Sanders was the greatest White House press spokesperson of all time because of the way she treated the press corps (that’s pronounced “core,” Mr. Obama) like unruly and slow-learning kindergarten kids, as they deserve to be treated. But Kayleigh McEnany has turned it up to 11, not only treating the press corps like children, but as the enemy as well, which they are. And note the left dare not make the charge that she is a bimbo—though you know they really want to—lest they fall afoul of charges of sexism. Remember when the media complained that the White House had discontinued the daily press briefing?

Turning and turning in the widening gyre The falcon cannot hear the falconer; Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world, The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere The ceremony of innocence is drowned; The best lack all conviction, while the worst Are full of passionate intensity. — Willian Butler Yeats, “The Second Coming” Can you make this stuff up? Here is the city’s message in full, issued May 28, after several days/nights of rioting. Here is the final sentence: The city urges everyone to exercise caution and stay safe while participating in demonstrations, including wearing masks and physical distancing as much as possible to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Chaos is now Donald Trump’s biggest threat 9 replies

For most of Donald Trump’s brief political career, chaos has been his friend. He draws energy from an endless storm of difficulties and controversies that would send most presidents into the fetal position. Critics and supporters alike compare his presidency to a reality television show, one that always ends with the leading man getting the last word. From Russia, Russia, Russia to Ukraine and impeachment, Trump’s time in the White House has been a continuing roller-coaster ride between danger on one side and disaster on the other.

President Trump on Saturday said he is postponing the G7 until at least September and that he hopes to invite additional countries to participate in the summit. The White House initially announced in March that, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the G7 meeting set for June of the seven major industrial nations -- Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, and Japan, along with the U.S. -- would be held by video conference instead of at Camp David. But in recent days, Trump had talked about reviving an in-person summit this summer, possibly at the White House and at Camp David. Yet on Saturday, the president said he would postpone

Damage to police vehicles and assaults against law enforcement officers Saturday night prompted San Francisco Mayor London Breed to call for an immediate curfew until 5 a.m. local time -- and to request that California National Guard personnel be placed on standby. "What we are seeing tonight -- the violence, the vandalism and the crimes being committed in our city, not against property but against other people -- that is something that we will not tolerate," Breed said, according to FOX 2 of the Bay Area. Across the bay in Emeryville, a popular shopping destination, looters appeared to be running rampant, smashing windows and stealing items from popular stores

An additional 140 House Republicans have joined a lawsuit Friday filed earlier this week against Speaker Nancy Pelosi over new rules in the lower chamber allowing for proxy voting. The suit was initially filed Tuesday by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy joined by 20 GOP lawmakers and four constituents on the eve of the first time members of the House have ever voted without being physically present, upending more than 200 years of precedent. “In the 231-year existence of the United States Congress, neither the House of Representatives nor the Senate has ever permitted a member to vote by proxy from the floor of the chamber,” the lawsuit opens.

Newly unsealed court documents show that top executives at Planned Parenthood were familiar with its organ-harvesting operations and privately discussed lucrative deals even as the abortion giant publicly denied profiting from the sale of body parts obtained from aborted babies. A video from the Center for Medical Progress, founded by undercover pro-life journalist David Daleiden, compiles testimonies from Planned Parenthood representatives who admit to planning to sell fetal organs, alongside documents showing the organization profited from selling the tissue. Selling fetal tissue for profit is illegal under federal law, although it is unclear how much companies can charge for shipping and handling the tissue.

But when it comes to their wealth, even critics of reality TV’s first family are intrigued; the Kardashian-Jenner machine—and the cash it generates—has been the subject of articles, podcasts, even books. But no one cares more about the topic than the family itself, which has spent years fighting Forbes for higher spots on our annual wealth and celebrity earnings lists. So when the youngest of the clan, Kylie Jenner, sold 51% of her Kylie Cosmetics to beauty giant Coty in a deal

T he tragic death of George Floyd on May 25 in Minneapolis has set off massive protests in the city and elsewhere. The protesters point to a video in which a police officer uses his knee to restrain Floyd, applying pressure to his neck for several minutes, as Floyd protests that he can’t breathe. This will remind any politically aware person of the death of Eric Garner in New York City in 2014. While New York City waited five years before firing the police officer in the Garner case, Minneapolis moved more swiftly, firing all four officers who were responsible for detaining Floyd the next day. Soon after the firings, protesters

The IRS estimates that nearly 5 million unopened paper tax returns had piled up at the agency by mid-May amid the closure of its offices nationwide due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to a report that POLITICO has obtained. Overall, the IRS estimated it had a backlog of 10 million pieces of mail to open and process as thousands of workers begin returning to the offices on Monday. In addition to tax returns, the unopened mail includes taxpayer correspondence, information returns and payments, according to the report. Through May 22, the agency had processed 120 million returns, down 14 percent from the same point in 2019, when the filing deadline was April 15.

“The torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans,” President John F. Kennedy said at his inaugural in 1961. Today, this generation is passing that torch to invite a new generation of barbarians to burn and loot and pillage, not serve and protect. The modern urban mayor is epitomized by Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, who has chosen not to crack down on the barbarians torching his city, but encourages them to keep the flames hot because “The symbolism of a building cannot outweigh the importance of life.” That laughable, sophomoric statement isn’t going to save anyone or any structure. That building is not a “symbol.”

Democratic and Republican officials on Sunday took aim at groups like Antifa and Boogaloo as well as demonstrators from out of town as responsible for violent episodes at protests in major cities across the country. President Donald Trump tweeted that he was designating Antifa as a terrorist organization. That followed Trump and Attorney General William Barr earlier pointing to anti-fascist organizers and anarchists as culprits behind the mayhem following the death of a 46-year-old black man, George Floyd, at the hands of Minneapolis police. Others said right-wing extremists such as Boogaloo followers, who hope to bring about a second Civil War, were pushing for such uprising in the protests.

Former Obama administration national security adviser Susan Rice bizarrely suggested in a televised interview Sunday that the Russians could be behind the violent nationwide demonstrations following the in-custody death of George Floyd, although she offered no evidence for the incendiary claim. Rice's made the claim after top Democrats insisted for years that the White House had conspired with Russia, although Special Counsel Robert Mueller found no evidence to support any conspiracy with Russia by any U.S. actor to influence the 2016 election

Jeremiah Ellison, who is a member of the Minneapolis City Council, noted in the tweet that he believes "white power" terrorists are actually the ones engaging in the looting, arson and other riot activities as violent sects hijack some of the protests against racial inequality and police brutality in the wake of the death of George Floyd last Monday. "I hereby declare, officially, my support for ANTIFA," Ellison said.

Will George W. Bush endorse Joe Biden? Congressional Republicans can’t even stand up to rebuke President Trump for falsely accusing a cable news host of murder — despite pleas to stop from the family of the woman, who died of natural causes back in 2001. But imagine if former President Bush, as Trump’s most recent Republican predecessor, backed a Democrat. Bush’s voice has the singular power to reach moderate Republicans and Republican-leaning independent voters, freeing them to walk away from the Party of Trump.

Sunday on CNN’s “Situation Room,” former Obama administration National Security Adviser Susan Rice said the violence during the protests over the death of George Floyd was in part because President Donald Trump demonized peaceful protests, including former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick kneeling during the National Anthem. Rice said, “It’s really fundamentally a problem of our society still bearing the vestiges and the realities every day of racial disparities and prejudice, and that’s what needs to be addressed. We need leadership, Wolf, that is interested in our common humanity, in treating all Americans as if they count and belong equally.
