Fox News contributor Donna Brazile sent co-hosts of “The Five” into a fit of laughter over her take on the First Amendment. The former Democratic National Committee Chairwoman left the panel momentarily speechless after she declared that “there’s no First Amendment right to lie” during a discussion on the battle between President Trump and Twitter. (Video) “This whole fact-checking thing is designed as a way to tackle misinformation which would be good if there was a balance,” Greg Gutfeld noted in the discussion after President Trump blasted the platform this week for adding a fact-check label to his tweets about mail-in voting.“

She is flat-out wrong - the Stolen Valor Supreme Court decision expressly stated that lying is protected Constitutionally. The opinion is interesting. By the time I completed it I concluded the court was right.

Donna Briazile has no business on Fox News and The Five. When she arrives I leave. I don't watch most shows as it is, maybe Fox and Friends or Fox Business in the morning but then I won't watch again until The Five comes on. Sometimes I wish I hadn't watched that show as well. When Donna is on, I can't stomach it! Shame of Fox for paying a Cheater to be on their shows!

Uh, yeah, actually, you ignorant airhead, you have the First Amendment RIGHT to say ANYTHING YOU WANT TO SAY. Leftists CANNOT put limits on free speech, no matter how much they hate losing the arguments - and no matter how often they claim that views different from theirs are "lies". IMO, 90%, at least, of what Brazile says on a daily basis is a lie.

She is partially correct. The First Amendment will not protect you from civil liability for defamation and fraud, and it will not protect you from lying to the FBI or lying under oath (perjury). And if you tell your wife you were out with the guys and you were really seeing Lulu, you will need more than the First Amendment to protect your sorry hide.

#28, the Supreme Court has put limits on suits for defamation based on the 1st Amendment. To sue a public figure, the plaintiff has to prove knowledge of falsity or reckless disregard for the truth. One SC justice--I think it was Hugo Black--dissented from rulings in defamation cases arguing that the 1st amendment was absolute and that defamation suits are unconstitutional. That didn't carry the day, but sometimes minority views end up becoming majority.

She should still be fired for telling the RNC chairgirl to "Go to Hell" on the air. I dare say that if even Sean Hannity would have told a guest to Go to Hell, he would be gone, but everyone always has a double standard for Democrats. Even Fox News has a double standard and that is ridiculous. This time on Fox News as exposed Donna Brazile as nothing more than a trash talker who gives black woman attitude (i.e. Maxine Waters, Shelia Jackson Lee). Before coming on Fox News I was under the impression that she was refined, intelligent and classy. Those illusions are gone. When her arguments are week she goes into sassy looks at the camera.

Someone at Fox is forcing hosts to utilize her since some idiot decided to hire her as a Fox News Contributor. She's like a horrible relief pitcher with a high salary. The manager is pressured to use her. Fox must be told to not renew her contract and if she has to be put on the air. . .well, put her on doing some sort of infomercial for cow manure in the middle of the night. FIRST AMENDMENT: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." Technically, she is correct. The First Amendment does not guarantee Americans the right to speak a lie or, for that matter, the right to speak the truth. It only mandates that no law be made to limit or curtail (thereby punishing) free speech. Gods' moral law working through our conscience should govern the content of all speech because one day, God will hold all of us accountable for everything done and said during our life on earth. Politicians who acknowledge no moral law (other than their own agenda) and no accountability to God feel free to lie. Politicians who acknowledge their accountability and try to live within Gods' moral law are less inclined to do so. In both cases, their rise to political power is a reflection of the values of the people who vote for them.

One might think that MSNBC might give Rev. Al Sharpton the day off when the hot topic is protesters burning down buildings. In 1995, Sharpton's protest against the "white interloper" who ran Freddy's Fashion Mart in Harlem led to a fire where seven people died of smoke inhalation (and the arsonist shot himself). Discussing the rioting in Minneapolis on today's Morning Joe, Al Sharpton began by telling protesters that the goal of a fair criminal justice system wouldn't be achieved by "appearing" to be criminal themselves. He warned that people would "exploit" that. A clearly upset Sharpton then said: "As I walked around Minneapolis yesterday . . .

President Donald Trump is right that social media companies have been targeting conservatives. Twitter, in particular, has been engaging in a relentless attack on the American political process by censoring conservatives. Now that has escalated to fact-checking the president nearly five months from a presidential election. The Media Research Center released a report in 2018, which found that Twitter led in censoring the right. That hasn’t changed. Project Veritas caught Twitter with hidden camera interviews admitting the process of shadow banning — which means content is hidden from users without the poster ever knowing it.

We need honest reckoning and reconciliation.” “If you haven’t already joined the work to replace him in November, start now,” she said. Ms. Clinton, who lost to Mr. Trump in the 2016 election, appeared to be alluding to Mr. Trump’s early-morning comments regarding the unrest in the wake of Floyd’s death.

Thursday on MSNBC, former Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett said because there is “de minimis vote fraud in our country,” we “should have vote-by-mail in every state.” Jarrett said, “This week, we launched Civic Cities, where we are working with mayors across the country. I started in local government, so I appreciate how mayors really do have a touch on what’s happening in the communities. They are extremely influential. So I asked them to help us engage with the constituents they have. We have 31 mayors off the bat. Many more joined on since then. We’re working in high schools because people who are first-time voters tend to be lifelong voters.

Chuck Hagel, a former GOP senator and Obama administration Defense secretary, says he's voting for Democrat Joe Biden over Republican Donald Trump in November. Hagel said during an interview with AL-Monitor's On the Middle East podcast that his choice is based on the belief that America continues to lose sight of its mission in Iraq and perhaps the entire Middle East. "We can't afford to just abandon Iraq," Hagel told show host Andrew Parasiliti. "I don't think our continued role should be to fight ISIS," on an indefinite basis.

A clearly upset Sharpton then said: "As I walked around Minneapolis yesterday . . .

Chaos erupted in Minneapolis Wednesday night, with people looting and rioting following the death of George Floyd, a black man who was killed by a white police officer. Two men decided to utilize their Second Amendment rights to prevent people from looting nearby stores. "Basically, you've seen the records the cops keep and the cops are a lot less likely to tread on people's rights when there's other armed Americans with them. So we figured it's about damn time – or at least I figure it's about damn time – for some heavily armed rednecks stood with fellow citizens," the one man explained.

What is happening to Fox News Channel? With the exception of its primetime lineup and a few regular contributors, Fox News increasingly is indistinguishable from its cable news competitors. The network, once considered the sole antidote to dominant left-wing news organizations—both print and broadcast—is making a fatal brand mistake: Alienating its customer base. For nearly 25 years, conservatives have depended on Fox News to report the news in a way that represents their views. Conservatives knew issues, like those surrounding the pro-life movement, could count on fair coverage from the network rather than the scorn and derision they get in mainstream media. Even recently, Fox News was the only outlet pursuing

President Trump on Friday announced that the U.S. is "terminating" its relationship with the embattled World Health Organization (WHO) over its failure to enact reforms in the face of U.S. concerns over its handling of the coronavirus pandemic and its pro-China bias. "Because they have failed to make the requested and greatly needed reforms, we will be today terminating our relationship with the World Health Organization and redirecting those funds to other worldwide and deserving urgent global public health needs," Trump said at a press conference.
