In the end, it is the face

There have been several great columns on the debate over mask-wearing in public. Scott McKay at American Spectator explains why the mask is essentially useless: The mask is not an adequate defense against the COVID-19 virus, gang. (snip) David Marcus astutely observes that the mask has become the political symbol of 2020. Indeed it has. In Staten Island a mob of “karens” forced a woman from a store for not wearing a mask and they were not at all polite about it; they were vicious. This is all the end result of the wholly unnecessary lockdown of the American economy

It's the mask right now. They want it to be the vaccine. Are you ready for 12, to cover all the mutations™?

You can tell the democrats from the republicans. The democrats even wear their masks when they are driving in the car.

Masks gives anonymity to the mob of self-righteous jerks. There’s something strangely comforting about wearing masks where you can hide in public. I don’t wear masks and seeing others in masks bothers me because I can’t read their faces. It’s a strange feeling to hear a saleswoman say “have a nice day” to me from behind a face covering.

I don't like masks. Especially not the ones that are so ubiquitous now since they don't really do anything to protect you from viruses. I only wear one to go to Mass and only because the bishop said we had to. I fear that when school starts this fall - I work at a university - I will have to wear one every day and I HATE them. The people who work with me are afraid of their shadows.

Who knew I would be living in times when people would be encouraged to wear face masks in banks?

What a great title! It is so true. It was funny to watch the CNN reporter at Lake Geneva, Wisconsin (mask properly fitted around his ears) complaining about all the people in the crowd ( just trying to have some fun) who were not wearing masks; even pointing to a man behind him who wasn't wearing one. I loved it that that guy, with typical American independence, asked the CNN reporter why his own cameraman was not wearing a mask.
The man or woman on the street, with their IPhones, are becoming the true reporters nowadays. The MSM should figure it out by now that we are tired of all their hypocrisy. I think they used to call that being two-faced.

It's shaking out to be a red-blue thing like everything else in America anymore, but I did see a guy with a mask and a MAGA hat on, so there's that.

#7 Post. Sorry. Made a mistake.
It was an MSNBC reporter and cameraman; not CNN. I apologize.

Call me sexist, but it is a gender thing. I see females walking outside wearing masks with no one anywhere around, except me driving by. Men, nah, not even in stores, unless mandated. Females are petrified, having been brainwashed by the media and Democratic politicans. ( UpState New York State, 'led' by k-i-l-l-e-r Cuomo ).

The masks are counter productive. When I attempt to talk to someone wearing one, I have a hard time understanding them. I have to ask them to repeat and lean in closer in order to hear. Isn't that exactly what we should be avoiding now?

I only hope that I live long enough for the truth over this whole shamdemic is generally known. That will require constant work to get it past the left's propaganda machine which will be actively suppressing it. We can that machine the Fake News industry.

#10, you should qualify them as demonrat females. This conservative woman refuses to wear one. First, they don’t work. Second, wearing one depletes your oxygen intake as you breath in the carbon dioxide which you just exhaled. Third, the human mouth has more different kinds of bacteria in it than a dog’s so when you exhale humid air into the mask you fill that area with bacteria in a perfect growth environment and then you breath it back in. If you wear the mask a lot, just imagine what is growing inside it. And fourth, I’m stubborn (Just ask my husband of 40 years.) and I automatically push back when anyone tries to force me to do something. I won’t set foot in businesses like Costco until they drop the mask requirement. Finally, as the pro-abortionists say, “My body. My choice.”

We are experiencing more and more lockdowns. Our police lockdown for hours our motorways. Our schools lockdown frequently. Sometimes they are necessary, but many times they are excessive, and the decision makers are not very good at making decisions. This was a very good article.

The lockdown has become a religion. Mask-wearing is a required ritual. There is no room for doubt or questioning. And those who do not comply are heretics who must be shamed and banished, since burning at the stake is no longer allowed.

Ms. McCarthy forgets that the purpose of the mask is to protect and reassure the people around you. Depending on where you are, mask wearing can be the pointless gesture that she makes it out to be. But in a confined indoor space in NYC, like maybe in a bus or an elevator, it's simply a thoughtful gesture. I'm pretty conservative on just about every issue, but I won't let my herd do all my thinking for me, and push me into the point of view that mask-wearing has to be opposed 100%. At the right time and place, it's the right thing to do.
