President Donald Trump blasted Jeff Sessions on Friday, telling Alabama voters not to “trust” his former attorney general while reminding them of the recusal that led to the appointment of special counsel Robert Mueller.
The former AG snapped back at Trump’s initial Friday evening tweet: “@realdonaldtrump Look, I know your anger, but recusal was required by law. I did my duty & you’re damn fortunate I did. It protected the rule of law & resulted in your exoneration. Your personal feelings don’t dictate who Alabama picks as their senator, the people of Alabama do.”
Trump again professed his support for Sessions’ U.S. Senate opponent, former Auburn head football coach Tommy Tuberville,

My basic question to Mr Sessions would be: "When you accepted the position, did you know that your were compromised to the point that you were going to recuse yourself? If so, why did you accept the job and what did you actually do while there?"

Why not resign, Mr. Sessions? If you found you couldn't ethically do the job, why not resign? And when you say you were protecting the rule of law, does this mean you STILL have not followed what exactly happened? STILL??? You were wrong. You were wrong. Face it.

His recusal cast a dark cloud over his involvement and credibility. I’m with Trump on this.

He should never have taken the job in the first place. He lied through his teeth to get the nomination, and he treated Trump like a fool. Sessions has a lot of nerve trying this baloney on. He is so not responsible for anything good where Trump is concerned after the election.
Actually Sleepy Sessions, the total LACK of evidence is what got him exonerated. Not your cowering under your desk protecting the swamp. Corruption most certainly is not honorable, and corruption is what YOU protected.

He is not going to be the republican nominee in Alabama... Coach Tuberville is going to win the primary and the general election... just watch; stupid comments like cussing at President Trump isn't going to do any favors for Sessions - we Alabamians love our President!

Sessions recused himself and blindsided Trump. He was set up by unscrupulous prosecutors on the most specious of reasons and never even challenged their assertions. I don't blame Trump for being livid at him.

Sessions was given the bums rush by the swamp creatures the same way Flynn was snookered into the perjury trap that lead to his firing. At the time Sessions was getting "expert" advice from the DOJ that his incidental campaign contacts with Russian diplomats required him to recuse himself they failed to explain that the investigation by the FBI was a counterintelligence operation and not a criminal one. The AG is only subject to recusals resulting from criminal conflicts. He never had a chance but tragically still believes he did the honorable thing which probably feels better than admitting that you were punk'd.

I don’t understand why Sessions said he met with no Russian officials while he worked on the Trump campaign when he clearly did. He was either bumbling or conniving but his recusal rather than resignation seemed disgraceful instead of heroic. When the Democrats started after Trump over the Russian nonsense his AG was of no help and this helped put country through 3+ years of hell. The game is corrupt hard-knuckle politics and Sessions gave the Democrats a huge advantage whatever his motives. And, perhaps more importantly, hasn’t Sessions had enough time in Washington? He’s 74 years-old, was in the Senate for 20 years before becoming AG and would be 80 by the end of his term. Enough. Let go so someone else can have a shot.

Sessions let Trump and the country down when he decided in 9/17 not to prosecute Lois Lerner and an IRS associate who created illegal hurdles for Tea Party groups in 2011-12 in order to help Obama’s re-election. Prosecuting her would have surely led to a WH connection. Prosecution might have also uncovered who in the IRS erased Lermer’s backup email file after she erased her desk computer records.
Sessions, more importantly, failed all of us by not prosecuting Hillary Clinton for her illegal use of a private email server, and her bribe taking as Sec of State. Sessions hid behind John Huber, a federal prosecutor from Utah who never interviewed anyone connected to Hillary’s illegalities.
Finally, Sessions allowed the dirty Asst AG, Rosenstein, to run the entire Mueller scam because of his foolish recusal. One hopes that AG Barr serves us better than.Sessions, but with possibly 7 months left in the Trump administration, Barr appears to be running out the clock.

Sessions should have put up a good fight until he was forced into recusing himself. A major disappointment.
Now he should recuse himself from running against Tommy Tuberville before he embarrasses himself royally.

Jeff Sessions was wrong by accepting the Attorney General position and then immediately recusing himself from any investigation pertaining to Russian “collusion” and “meddling” without first telling President Trump, thus not giving the President the opportunity to appoint someone else as Attorney General. That was not a good or loyal move by Sessions.

When a politician hangs around Washington for a time it is difficult not to be "compromised." Before voting for an incumbent make sure there no other good choices.

Sessions you are a bonafide liar. Why did you not call in such men as DiGenova, A. McCarthy, Turley, Dershowitz and more? Why
all the democrat operatives? You are a liar. You did this fore McConnell and all his senators.
