Disgraced former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick will be granted early release from a federal prison where he is serving a 28-year sentence for corruption and currently in quarantine due to the coronavirus, according to a Michigan state lawmaker. State Rep. Karen Whitsett, a Detroit Democrat, told WJB-TV that she was notified by President Trump of Kilpatrick's impending release during his Thursday visit to Michigan. "He said that he was being released," Whitsett said. "I'm elated for him ... An out is an out ... He's done his time. And I think, 'My God, when is long enough long enough.'"

They're STILL finding newer cars and new construction equipment squirreled away in locked and guarded (private, not city personnel) warehouses all around the Motor City. I know someone who knows someone who just bought some recently from Kwame's people.

Biden’s Progressive Gamble 10 replies

A few hours after this column appears on the internet, more than 30 liberal activists will meet online to plan your future. The gathering is called the "Friday Morning Group." It comprises, according to the New York Times, "influential figures at labor unions, think tanks, and other progressive institutions." These influential figures, the Times goes on, believe that when Democrats last had full control of the federal government, between 2009 and 2010, they did not "take the initiative in specifying plans for achieving large-scale change." They hope to correct this mistake. What happens on November 3 might give them the chance. Buoyed by polls that show Joe Biden

Whatever got into the rising star Democrats who won big by losing in 2018? No one who won was half as impressive as Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke of Texas and Stacey Abrams of Georgia. O’Rourke outperformed expectations when he lost by only 2 points to incumbent Ted Cruz in Texas. Abrams was actually favored to win but lost an open-seat race for governor in Georgia to Brian Kemp by just 55,000 votes. She nearly got enough support to force a runoff, but not quite. These two had until recently been little-known legislators — he in the U.S. House and she in the Georgia state Senate. Party leaders longed to have them run

Look, there is a difference between “murder” and “killing.” Murder is purposeful and indefensible, regardless of degree. By contrast, humans value professionals who kill ants, spiders, roaches, and termites. Killing is more nuanced. Soldiers kill the enemy, and that is the whole idea. Police kill bad guys, and that usually is very good. Store owners kill people who hold them up, and that usually is fabulous. Other killings are not acceptable. Thus, accidental killings still are tortious, if not always criminal. Automobile and other roadway killings. Accidents at home. And then there is Cuomo. I do not quite fathom the mind of the quintessential New York Democrat liberal.

A group of military veterans out of Mount Airy, N.C., made a video to bestow a funeral honor guard upon departed service members who are unable to receive one due to the novel coronavirus outbreak. The effort was led by Rob Luffman, whose late father Bobby Luffman served in the Air Force. He said he saw a friend share a Facebook post asking for someone to play taps at her dad's funeral several weeks ago. The woman's father had served three tours in Vietnam. "That was the first time it occurred to me that veterans were not getting honors ceremonies at graveside services," he told Fox News.

Radio host Charlamagne tha God is pushing back one day after former Vice President Joe Biden said on his show “The Breakfast Club” that African-American voters "ain’t black” if they can’t decide whether to vote for him or incumbent President Trump. “I see black communities all across America catching hell regardless of who is in the White House,” the radio host told The Hill on Saturday. “Because we have a bunch of underlying conditions created by systemic racism that have never been fixed.” “The whole system needs to be dismantled and rebuilt, and he’s been a very intricate part of that system," Charlamagne tha God

Biden suggested that only Democrat-voting blacks are truly black in a heated exchange with radio host Charlamagne Tha God.
If We Want Western Civ Revitalized,

An extensive National Review cover article by Andrew Roberts asserts that “we must teach Western Civilization.” He is correct that Western Civ should be taught, and not just as an exercise in the self-flagellation of critical theory. But studying our cultural heritage without living it is only intellectual embalming, and some champions of Western civilization may prefer it that way. Preserving Western Civilization requires living it. This distinction between information about a tradition and living it is obvious in religion, in which study does not in itself instill belief. Unlike instruction at the local parish school, a secular college’s religious studies course is not meant to inculcate Catholic belief and behavior,

What cannot be tolerated is that he should have a beautiful wife. Nothing generates worse grudges on the left than beauty. A right-wing first lady has to be ugly and always dressed like Popeye’s girlfriend. Maybe that way Hillary Clinton could look modern and win back some votes from young female Democrat interns, which she lost in the strange circumstances surrounding Bill’s departure from the White House. But Melania Trump is beautiful, pleasant, and stylish. At 50, she looks much better than the Democratic Party, struggling year after year to find a bigger idiot than Carter to lead them and, incredibly, succeeding. Obama, with salsa dance moves

Joe Biden finally made some news from his undisclosed location somewhere in central lockdown Delaware. He appeared Friday on “The Breakfast Club,” where he was interviewed by Charlamagne tha God. It was Biden’s response to Charlamagne saying he welcomed having Biden back to answer more questions as the show was closing that fanned flames at the start of a holiday weekend. “If you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t black,” Biden replied. The New York Times described it as a “testy exchange” between Biden and Charlamagne. I didn’t get that impression — both men seemed relaxed throughout the segment.

FBI Director Christopher Wray on Friday ordered an internal investigation of the case against former national security adviser Michael Flynn. The move follows the Justice Department’s decision this month to drop its prosecution of Flynn, who pleaded guilty in late 2017 to lying to the FBI. President Trump alleges the Flynn case was part of a conspiracy by “dirty cops” to “take down” his presidency. “FBI Director Christopher Wray today ordered the Bureau’s Inspection Division to conduct an after-action review of the Michael Flynn investigation,” the FBI said in a statement first reported by Fox News.

Stay-home orders that extend too long could cause the U.S. “irreparable damage,” Dr. Anthony Fauci warned Friday. Strict crackdowns on large gatherings and other orders, such as for home quarantines, were needed when the coronavirus first hit the nation, but those rules can now begin to be lifted in many parts of the country, Fauci said during an interview on CNBC. “I don’t want people to think that any of us feel that staying locked down for a prolonged period of time is the way to go,” the member of the White House coronavirus task force said.

Harvard psychology professor Steven Pinker said Thursday that the push for reopening society from lockdowns comes from Christianity’s “malignant delusion” of belief in an afterlife. Atheists who believe in this life alone are more concerned with health and safety, Professor Pinker suggested in a Tweet, while Christians tend to devalue “actual lives” and live a riskier existence. Belief in an afterlife is a malignant delusion, since it devalues actual lives and discourages action that would make them longer, safer, and happier. Exhibit A: What’s really behind Republicans wanting a swift reopening? Evangelicals. https://t.co/ppo2bwiVGn — Steven Pinker (@sapinker) May 21, 2020
