Lawyer says he no longer represents
Biden accuser Tara Reade

The lawyer representing Tara Reade, the ex-Senate staffer who has accused Joseph R. Biden of a 1993 sexual assault, said Friday she is no longer a client. “Our decision, made on May 20, is no by no means a reflection whether then-Senator Biden sexually assaulted Ms. Reade,” attorney Douglas Wigdor said in a statement. “On that, our view — which is the same view held by the majority of Americans, according to a Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll — has not changed,”

Comments:

Believe her or not, she had led a pretty flakey life. Her future looks pretty cloudy.

Got a boatload of attorneys in my family. Left leaning to hard left. They’d never get invited to the cool parties if they took up arms against the presumptive Democrat nominee. Just saying.

If you read his entire statement, this has nothing to do with her veracity. He still believes everything she said was true. Incredible that we have guys who root for the guys and call the women “flakey”. If she had a “flakey” life, had it happened before 1993 when she was only 23? And would that have made a difference? Lawyer believed EVERYTHING she said…. Did flakey Biden pay him more to drop out?

Lawsuits are a big investment for lawyers. They have an invested interest. If the client goes around making stupid statements, ignoring good advice, and lying, they get dumped.

A British woman in a long-term relationship with a 92-year-old German chandelier has been told that her attraction to historic light fittings is not considered to be a protected sexual orientation. The press regulator, Ipso, made the ruling after Amanda Liberty, a woman from Leeds in her mid thirties, complained. (snip) She objected to being included in an end-of-year article by Sun columnist Jane Moore, which nominated her for a “Dagenham Award (Two Stops Past Barking)” prize, simply because of her sexual attraction to Lumiere. She pointed out she was in a relationship with the chandelier but not yet married to it.

Torching heather, popular with gamekeepers but bad for the environment, is now outlawed in several upland areas of northern England. The ban is a blow to grouse shoots, which burn older heather to make way for younger, more nutritious plants for grouse to feed on, but environmental groups say the practice harms the environment. Research by the University of Leeds has found that burning grouse moors degrades peatland habitat, releases climate-altering gases, reduces biodiversity and increases flood risk

The world’s hazelnut supplies could be threatened by a stinkbug that has recently invaded Turkey, scientists have warned. The brown marmorated stinkbug, which is native to north-east Asia, has been spreading across the world in shipping containers, breeding freely thanks to warmer temperatures and a lack of natural predators. The stinkbug– named for the pungent chemicals it produces as a form of defence – was seen in Turkey for the first time in 2017, after wreaking havoc in neighbouring Georgia

Stay-home orders that extend too long could cause the U.S. “irreparable damage,” Dr. Anthony Fauci warned Friday. Strict crackdowns on large gatherings and other orders, such as for home quarantines, were needed when the coronavirus first hit the nation, but those rules can now begin to be lifted in many parts of the country, Fauci said during an interview on CNBC. “I don’t want people to think that any of us feel that staying locked down for a prolonged period of time is the way to go,” the member of the White House coronavirus task force said.

Every state and local politician who imposed lockdowns pursuant to the COVID-19 pandemic claimed their decisions were based on “the science.” In reality, they ignored the advice of leading epidemiologists, relying instead on statistical models produced by “experts” with histories of wildly inaccurate projections. The most notorious of these oracles was, of course, Neil Ferguson of Imperial College London, who claimed that coronavirus could kill 2.2 million Americans. Based on such apocalyptic predictions, combined with overcautious warnings from Beltway bureaucrats like Dr. Anthony Fauci, all but a few governors implemented economically destructive stay-at-home orders — despite the reservations of respected epidemiologists who questioned the logic of lockdowns from the beginning.

There are so many angles to the FBI-Michael Flynn imbroglio, and most have been covered in great depth across a divergent set of viewpoints. But one aspect that has not been covered, and that opens up a wider lens into FBI policy, is the fact that the FBI refuses to audiotape, much less videotape, interviews of witnesses or suspects such as Flynn. That policy is counterproductive and makes no sense in 2020. The FBI needs to take itself out of the J. Edgar Hoover era and align itself with modern law enforcement best practices.
