One has to wonder, do those on the left, including the media, actually think that Joe Biden is a viable candidate for president? Do they not realize that Nancy Pelosi is as senile as Joe? Like Joe, she often slurs her words, suffers brain freezes mid-sentence and spews gibberish. (snip) And yet, at the moment, Biden is their candidate and Pelosi is their Speaker who embarrasses herself every time she opens her mouth, as does Biden. Both of them belong in a long-term care facility for the aged. That the Democrats consider either of these pols a credit to their party is proof of their willful blindness.

Before the first generation of Baby Boomers showed up as adults about 1964..... the standard in most industry and large organizational settings was to have a top boss who might have a college diploma, with assistant bosses, and then direct supervisors, and scads of high school graduates (or dropouts) below them in a very class conscious pecking order.
With that first generation, things flipped ~ and over the next 20 years college graduates became as normal as having running water.... and in response management systems flattened with the expansion of the Technical and Analytical positions ~ bosses literally became less important for the first time in human history.
The political parties went through the same transformation, but the Democratic party made one other adjustment that proved quite disastrous. They championed the replacement of ELECTED OFFICIALS with APPOINTED OFFICIALS ~ fewer and fewer judges were elected, mayors were replaced with city managers, even sheriffs found themselves subsumed into a plethora of "county commissions" ~ and one state, Connecticut, actually abolished Counties entirely. Cities were consolidated. School districts consolidated. And always for some good reason ~ usually with language couched in EFFICIENCY and COST.
While all of that was taking place, it was doing so most aggressively in CT, MA, NY, VT, NJ, PA, IL, CA, OR and WA! If RI had more stuff it might have happened there... but then they wouldn't have had any elective positions left.
Now that the Baby Boomer generation is moving on into their retirement years, and a higher death rate (which always comes with age).... the Democrats are left with NO ONE with experience running for office without the use of TV advertising and campaign consultants.
The 36 Republican dominated states continue to develop more and more new up and coming younger politicians ..... in all sorts of elections!
The consequence is the Republicans always have a bunch of new, younger faces, and the Democrats are being rapidly reduced to a relatively elderly gerontocracy of politicians who have been around for decades!
The problem can be fixed simply by subjecting more government offices and judgeships to ELECTION!

With the Left there is always a reason. Joe Biden's "weaknesses" are painfully obvious and undeniable. Why then is he still being pushed forward, (with) All these phony polls from the corporate media showing him leading Trump nationally, dutifully trotted out on a regular basis? Is it protect someone more powerful. Is it part of a Machiavellian plot to bring out the real candidate, who might be attacked and tarnished if revealed prematurely? Give up the White House this time to keep the powder dry for '24?

Biden and Pelosi are what's keeping AOC, The Squad and goons like Antifa from taking over the Dem party, along with the government of large swaths of the USA, especially urban areas. The change is generational, and it's happening. Unless they can be bought off, they also represent the end of the UNIPARTY...radicals Bernie, Lizzie and J.F. Kerry had their price. You may miss these characters when they are gone. As Reagan also famously said, "You ain't seen nothing yet."
The 2020 Dem campaign tag should be "Après nous le déluge."

Disagree with #1 completely. A bigger problem in the blue states is the fraud in the voting. I live in OR and we have had vote by mail since 1986. If you like all democrat, all the time, that is the system for you. We haven't gotten rid of Mayors, not at all. But we have added on city manager in addition to mayor. Don't see how that is efficient at all. But elected officials instead of appointed, that I agree with. Especially when it comes to mayors who also act as the Police Commissioner. Portland OR did that way back when, and we are seeing the results of that folly. The mayor is not interested in properly defending the citizens, the mayor is only interested in how the police actions reflect on them politically. That is Bad News.

Major error. Does anyone know what the albatross is all about?
In the era of sail, the albatross was looked upon as a bird of good fortune. To harm the albatross would bring bad luck to the ship.
So the malefactor (albatross killer) was required to wear the dead albatross tied to his body, in order to keep the curse away from the ship.
It is an apt metaphor, as Pelosi and Biden are now draped around the necks of the Democrats.

Good, strong opinions on this one, thank you Posters. None of these historical changes has been of stand-alone events, but of much complex change all at once. The proliferation of college graduates in the business world was amazing for business, flattening the layers of management and introducing new ways of doing things from modern business schools. The flood of brilliant books from Peter Drucker, Jack Welch and others propelled America to the top of the business world. The grads learned from the company experts and combined that experience with their learning. Then something really bad happened. Diversity and Affirmative Action became the primary business concern and the schools fell rapidly downhill. You now had a generation of near-dummies being put in charge before they were ready. The same with government, people with many years of fancy degrees that were nearly worthless were being given positions of great responsibility. Right about that time, the generation of people who automatically pulled the "D" in the voting booth was reaching maturity. America began losing God and its morals so the younger generation became less honest and more greedy, wily and lawless. The children of those people make up Antifa, BLM and the pink hat crowd. AOC is one of those. Low intelligence caused them to gravitate to the democrats and fill in the ranks of the Automatic "D" people. The more that evil was ignored in government, the more the democrat party shifted to liars, cheaters and evildoers. Joe and Nancy are the last of the old guard but they have lost all capacity to think, they just do what they have done for decades, push out the good, spend money on the pond scum of society and carve out their share of the spoils. We can beat them but we are fighting much more than politics, as Donald Trump learned when he opposed them.

Say what you want Biden is weak and gets weaker by the day. I don't know the left's plan for him but loosing the White House must be it. Nancy Haagan Daz Pelosi on the other hand has stifled the government for three years that's some mighty power she wields there. I blame Paul Ryan for this when the Republicans could have worked with the elected party's President they sat and did nothing. Republicans are a weak bunch but not like the unified democrats with Ms. Haagan Daz as their leader.

It's not just Biden and Pelosi who are big albatrosses. How in the world can anyone with a smidgen of intelligence think Stacey Abrams is fit to be vice-president?
