Beijing is accelerating its bid for global leadership in key technologies, planning to pump more than a trillion dollars into the economy through the rollout of everything from wireless networks to artificial intelligence. In the masterplan backed by President Xi Jinping himself, China will invest an estimated $1.4 trillion over six years to 2025, calling on urban governments and private tech giants like Huawei Technologies Co. to lay fifth generation wireless networks, install cameras and sensors, and develop AI software that will underpin autonomous driving to automated factories and mass surveillance. The new infrastructure initiative is expected to drive mainly local giants from Alibaba and Huawei to SenseTime Group Ltd.

I suppose they'll be busy bribing and stealing more technologies from the West to make that happen.

'Seize' is the wrong word - 'Steal' is more correct. No Chinese national should be allowed to emigrate unless to do farm/manual labor. No tech jobs, manufacturing, grad students, etc.- NONE. They come here to steal intellectual property, trade secrets and to bring pandemic infections. They bring NOTHING we need. Oh all right - let them come to see Disneyland.

One thing the Chinese do bring are students who pay a premium to go to school in America. In essence they have paid off the universities and bought the liberal elites. As a result Chinese students assist in research of which they can steal or take back to the homeland with the returning student. Very cost effective, but very stupid of us.

Must be China has stolen enough intellectual property that they think they can make it happen.

Doctors at a California hospital are reporting more deaths by suicide than coronavirus during the stay-at-home orders, and one doctor is calling the influx of suicide deaths “unprecedented,” according to ABC 7. John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, in the East Bay region of San Francisco Bay Area, has seen a “year’s worth of suicide attempts in the last four weeks,” the head of the trauma department, Dr. Mike deBoisblanc told ABC 7. “We’ve never seen numbers like this, in such a short period of time,”(snip). Mental health is suffering so much during the stay-at-home period implemented due to coronavirus that he’s calling for an end to the orders.

Democratic Colorado Gov. Jared Polis has restricted what personal information his state agencies will provide to federal immigration authorities, the latest measure he’s taken to protect Colorado’s illegal alien population. Polis quietly issued new policy guidance on Wednesday, directing state agencies not to provide Coloradans’s personal data to federal entities that intend to use the information for the sole purpose of immigration enforcement, according to the Colorado Sun. The new directive ultimately prevents Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers from obtaining such data unless they are investigating a crime or carrying a court order. Per the four-page executive guidance, information such as (snip) names and addresses cannot be released

New York nursing homes were forced to accept more than 4,500 coronavirus patients from hospitals thanks to an order from Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a tally by The Associated Press found. Cuomo has come under heated criticism for his March 25 order forcing recovering COVID-19 patients into New York nursing homes — a decision blamed for the state’s high body count among the elderly. The governor waited roughly six weeks before reversing the order on May 10. The New York State Department of Health refused to release the results of an internal survey on how many coronavirus patients were placed in nursing homes across the state,

On Jenny Marr's 34th birthday, she and her husband decided it was time to start trying for a baby. Both only children, Jenny Marr, 35, and her husband, Chris Marr, 35, live in Dallas. They would have been happy with just one child - a compact family of four, including their dog Zeke. On Oct. 6, she took a pregnancy test: It was positive. The couple, yearning to hear the sound of a steady heartbeat, began counting down until they would finally see their baby on a sonogram screen. Little did they know, though, that they had not one, not two, not three, but four heartbeats to hear and four

After receiving a formal warning from the United States Justice Department over church closures, California Gov. Gavin Newsom said his state is "weeks away" from allowing in-person religious services to resume. A group of federal attorneys wrote a letter to Newsom warning him that prolonged church closures likely violate the Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment due to the fact that similar non-religious businesses are receiving the green light to reopen in Stage 2. "Laws that do not treat religious activities equally with comparable nonreligious activities are subject to heightened scrutiny under the Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment," the letter states.

State Rep. Karen Whitsett, D-Detroit, filed a federal lawsuit Thursday against Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and several fellow Democrats, claiming violations of free speech and defamation. Specifically, Whitsett claimed Whitmer and the 13th Congressional District Democratic Party Organization sought to deprive her of her right to engage in protected speech after she publicly thanked President Donald Trump for his suggestion of using the drug hydroxychloroquine to treat her coronavirus case. Whitsett contracted the virus in March and has been open about her appreciation for the president’s suggestion, which she says saved her life.

Is Judge Emmet Sullivan’s collusion cameo nearing its end? Today, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, on its own motion, ordered Judge Sullivan to respond within ten days to the petition for a writ of mandamus filed by Michael Flynn. Earlier this week, Flynn’s counsel, Sidney Powell, filed the petition for that extraordinary writ, asking the appellate court to instruct Sullivan to grant the Justice Department’s motion to dismiss the case against Flynn. That was after Judge Sullivan not only declined to grant the prosecution’s motion, but (a) invited non-parties to intervene in the case by filing amicus briefs (transparently, to make arguments that he somehow has

Arizona lawmakers are moving to erect new hurdles to protect individuals from having their property seized by the state. SB 1556 would end the ability of prosecutors to be able to take property simply by convincing a judge that it is connected to criminal activity. Instead, they would have to actually first convict someone of a crime. The 6-4 vote Wednesday by the House Judiciary Committee came over the objections of prosecutors who argued that it would impair their ability to protect Arizonans from criminal activity. But (snip) their real objection is that the current law allows prosecutors — and the police agencies (snip) — to keep what they seize.

He began to call the city home. Hickson was brilliant. He was brought up in a military family, on the gritty south side of Houston, with an I.Q. higher than both of his parents’. He struggled to fit in, got in some fights.
