The flattering profiles of Stacey Abrams are coming so fast now that it’s hard to keep up. Two days ago the Washington Post Magazine published a piece titled “The Power of Stacey Abrams.” The best way to summarize the piece is probably by showing you this photo that was published with it:(Snip for photo) It looks like she’s trying out for a Harry Potter stage show. All that’s missing is a magic wand. But it really does match the glowing tone of the piece: When she is finally introduced the women shout and leap to their feet. Young women stand on chairs, camera phones flash. Abrams,

The only explanation for her popularity is that the Dems are obsessed with race. They are, deep down in their souls, extremely racist people who feel very guilty about this and therefore choose vapid candidates like her to assuage their guilt. There really cannot be any other explanation. I'm from Atlanta and had to endure her campaign. She's about as intelligent as a wet bag of rice.

I read yesterday that Susan Rice was at the top of his list for VP. She would make more sense than Abrams who barely can tie her shoes! Rice could put Biden in his Rocking Chair and then she could run the country with the help of Obama (he didn't buy a house in D.C. for nothing)!

one of my favorite Seinfeld episodes had to do with a young couple and their baby. they keep imploring Jerry and the gang to look at their baby, gloriously clueless about the fact that it is ugly. "You've got to see the baby!" was their repeated plea.' every time I read about Stacey Abrams, I think of that episode. I have a phone conversation with my #2 son about once a week. He is relentlessly far leftist, and we discussed Biden's possible choice of a running mate yesterday. I pointed out that Old Jo had boxed himself in on VP choice, having stated that he would select a woman of color, and that he had a dozen such women on his short list. My son attempted to name a dozen women of color, and could not. But he is convinced Old Jo should Tammy Duckworth as his running mate. I told him she would be a smart choice, but how would Stacey Abrams, Kamala Sutra, Val Demings, and other blacks feel about that? he said they couldn't knock Tammy - that she was a wounded warrior.

If I was running for president, as a democrat.. gag.. From the very slim pickings of reasonable, even remotely qualified back women, I would go with Donna Brazil. She doesnt make everything about race, is honest for a democrat and wont scare away most voters with radicalism. But I dont think like a democrat....

When Stacey Abrams lost the election for governor in Georgia, she did an "Al Gore" -- contesting the election to overturn the results. It seems that trying to overturn elections is becoming standard practice. That, and labeling anybody that does not vote for them as "Deplorables."

Agree with #7. Stacey Abrams isn't happening. She is just another perpetually aggrieved race hustler with nothing to offer. Susan Rice has a much better chance. No governor yet claims jurisdiction over the International Space Station but the astronauts have a lot of explaining to do when they return to earth. It’s not as though they lacked for space. Governors ordering around people 250 miles above their states seems far-fetched. But so, too, did the notion of governors usurping the role of legislatures. Eight months after the initial coronavirus lockdowns, citizens docilely accept the idea of a single person dictating the laws that govern millions of people.

Will Joe Biden and his foreign-policy team accept the extraordinary gift Team Trump is leaving for them under the Christmas tree — or is their hatred for the president so all-consuming that they will toss it in the garbage? Normalization has proceeded so quickly, Dubai already has a kosher restaurant, and its supermarkets are stocking Israeli agricultural products festooned with Stars of David — a science-fictional sight only a year ago.

The practice of democracy in our constitutional republic flourishes in the presence of contradictions. Democracy, itself, is bound by our inalienable rights, bestowed to us by our Creator. These rights, not given to us by our government by any majority or by any vote, cannot be rescinded, for they were not wrought by man. Voting is a contradiction for it is both public and private at the same time. Its process is intended to be secret, but transparent. Its agency is intensely partisan, but its effect is intended to be unifying. The legitimacy of voting must survive despite the contradictions intrinsic to the process.

Will Judge Emmett Sullivan accept President Trump’s pardon of General Michael Flynn? No one has suggested that possibility, other than The New York Sun. The general’s case, though, has become a bonfire of the vanities of one district judge who has denied the presumption of regularity to an official act of the United States government — meaning Attorney General William Barr’s attempt to drop the case. So why would Judge Sullivan credit President Trump’s workaround of a pardon? We understand, the pardon could be the least fettered of all the powers that the Constitution grants to the president.

Many conservatives have moved their social-media accounts to the more freewheeling Parler, and often have slammed the supposedly monopolistic Facebook and Twitter as they’ve decamped from those sites. I have chuckled at some of their overheated parting rhetoric — especially the widespread misunderstanding about the meaning of the word “monopoly.” A monopoly is, as the Oxford dictionary explains, “the exclusive possession or control of the supply of or trade in a commodity or service.” Quite obviously, if one stops doing business with a company and heads over to its competitor, then the previous company is not by definition in exclusive possession or control of a service.

The counting is still going on in some of the congressional races and one of the tightest ones is in New York’s 22nd district. There, Democratic incumbent Anthony Brindisis is locked in a recount with Republican Claudia Tenney, who previously held the seat before him. The race gap between the two has come down to the point where Tenney is leading by 106 votes and the only ballots left to possibly be considered are the ones that were “set aside” during the initial count due to irregularities.

“There must have been a moment, at the beginning, when we could have said –-no. But somehow we missed it.” Tom Stoppard The millions of Americans who were paying attention throughout the 2020 election campaign all became painfully aware of the fact that Joe Biden’s cognitive abilities were slipping and slipping fast. His wife, as the person closest to him, should have been the one to call the campaign quits in order to reduce stress on the man. Instead, apparently so anxious to become the First Lady by any means necessary, Mrs. Biden continued to push her failing husband’s campaign forward as if he were mentally qualified.
