White House coronavirus task force member Dr. Anthony Fauci threw cold water on the theory that the novel coronavirus was created in a Chinese lab—contradicting what President Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo have been saying, according to a report. “If you look at the evolution of the virus in bats and what’s out there now, [the scientific evidence] is very, very strongly leaning toward this could not have been artificially or deliberately manipulated,” Fauci told National Geographic in an exclusive interview. “Everything about the stepwise evolution over time strongly indicates that [this virus] evolved in nature and then jumped species,”

It's not a theory in a scientific sense, it's an intelligence assessment which has been coordinated among the agencies. It's the only way a SecState would ever announce that in public. Haven't seen or heard Fauci in days except when he challenges other's analysis, like today. He should go back in hiding.

Aw c’mon! Dr Fauci really likes his time in the sun doesn’t he?
I’m so tired of him contradicting the president and then, a day or so later, kind of walk back his statement. Don’t trust the guy at all.

Of course Fauci is attempting to dismiss the fact that it was created in the Wuhan lab. Fauci is very connected to the creating of the virus. Evil snake along with Bill Gates.

Is it a virus that's in bats, but has now, due to testing in labs, been leaked out into general society?
So, would he be correct in specifics of what he said, but not in the details of how the virus actually spread?

If, like Dr. Fauci, I had helped provide $3.7 in funding the Wuhan lab, I too would be doing all I could to discredit information that the Wuhan lab developed the COVID-19.

I don't think the Chinese artificially or deliberately manipulated COVID-19. The issue, as I understand it, is that they mishandled their COVID-19 research, allowing it to escape the lab. Whether that was intentional or not, I don't know. I am guessing not, but then I don't trust the Chinese government.
Think about this: We are told to wear cloth face coverings and wash our hands for 20 seconds every time we turn around. If lab personnel didn't always observe the proper lab hygiene (which would be much more stringent than cloth face coverings and hand-washing), then it seems like a no-brainer that the virus could escape.

Re: #9 "Whether that was intentional or not, I don't know. I am guessing not"
Perhaps, but their following actions appear particularly evil, none the less. :
Denying US medical access to the Wuhan labs...
....locking up infected citizens...
...forbidding intra-Chinese Wuhan travel, but allowing international Wuhan travel...
... and hoarding medical supplies.
It appears they were intent on harming the world with these actions. One theory has it that China did not want to be the sole victim of their mistake, which would have all but ended their march toward world hegemony...supplanting USA as the world's superpower.

If this isn't true about the lab according to Fauci, why then did his lab provide $3.7 million in funding to the lab in Wuhan in the first place?

Fauci (I won't even call him doctor, because he has become a multi-decade government bureaucrat,) has sold his soul to get where he is. Why has he never practiced clinical medicine? Why is he arguing the facts? The facts are known. We are supposed to believe him just because of who he is? He has no credibility in this matter.

Dr. Fauci loves to get on his soapbox and say the Chinese lab had nothing to do with the virus creation. His other favorite topic is to say hydroxychroroquine is too risky to be relied upon, probably because it is so cheap to make.
My favorite topic for Dr. Fauci is when he sings "The Lollipop Kids" like the Munchkins on "The Wizard of Oz"
Hey..."We are going to need a bigger box" for Dr. Fauci to stand on.

How would Dr. Fauci know as the Chinese Communist Government is keeping everyone away from the Chinese laboratory? Fauci is simply giving his opinion that appears to conflict with other evidence and opinions that the “Five Eyes” (US, UK, Australia, New Zealand and Canada) Intelligence apparatuses have gathered. No doubt some of that information was passed to the “Five Eyes” by medical people in China. Maybe the virus was not artificially manipulated as Fauci said, but it is well known that the Wuhan Laboratory was conducting research on corona viruses that originally came out of bats, that the laboratory workers found in caves located hundreds of miles from Wuhan and then brought to the laboratory. So who is to say if the virus did not escape from the laboratory and then infect the world?

The premise of the article is wrong. The writer is either stupid or being deliberately obtuse. The President, Secretary Pompeo, and Dr. Fauci are all correct and are NOT contradicting each other. The President and Secretary Pompeo never said the virus was "created" in a lab. They said it originated or escaped from the lab. The lab gathered virus samples from bats, brought those samples to the lab for study, and at some point the virus got out of the lab by unknown means. The writer seems to think labs only create things, not just study things that already exists. They have seen too many Frankenstein movies.

It is irrelevant to the serious issues whether or not the virus was created in a Wuhan laboratory. And President Trump never claimed it was. So Fauci is spinning the facts to create an anti-Trump narrative.
The outrageous fact is the intentional and surreptitious spreading of the virus internationally while the CCP tried to corner the market on medical devices. They wanted the rest of the world suffering from the virus. So they concealed its existence with the help of W.H.O. Germ warfare was being conducted regardless of whether they created or simply discovered the CCP Virus.

I have to agree with him. Not "MADE" in a Chinese lab, not modified in a Chinese lab.
Studied and accidentally released from a Chinese lab, no doubt about it, we have the published research papers from WIV where they freely admit that they were studying it. That is beyond question.
No serious source that I have found, including some which are private, believes that this is a man-modified virus. But it is clear that the Chinese are too incompetent to work with dangerous viruses. And this kind of virus is only moderately stable. RNA viruses accumulate transcription errors in their RNA each time they reproduce, the chance of jumping species is always there.
DNA viruses are very stable, due to the backup copy that the DNA double helix provides. Smallpox is a DNA virus, and that means that it is extremely stable, and that our vaccines work "forever" on it, it doesn't mutate, or only extremely rarely. Herpes (many kinds) are also DNA viruses, therefore, long term stable.
RNA viruses are using a "scratchpad" single RNA strand, no-backup copy, RNA [only used as a temporary copy in normal living things] as their genetic material. So, without the backup copy to correct errors, errors accumulate in the viral RNA, and that means the virus mutates more rapidly. Sometimes those mutations mean that the virus can infect other species, a new capability. What was normally bats-only virus apparently mutated and infected a human handler.
RNA viruses are harder to make long term vaccines for. This is why the flu vaccine is only good for one year, then the flu virus is likely mutated and the vaccine will no longer work.

Do they accept people into Reporter school based on them having the lowest IQ and no ability to think logically? Trump and Pompao NEVER said the virus was made in a Chinese lab. What they have said is that it originated in a Chinese lab. Fact, the Chinese lab in Wuhan was collecting and studying corona viruses from bats. The virus was naturally occurring but should never have come in contact with the city of Wuhan because the bats they collected it from are 1000 miles from the lab. through their sloppy handling of this deadly virus, it escaped and infected humans. I cannot despise the media more.

Time for Dr. Fauci to be retired. Past time, really. He has no business making a public statement like this, any more than to announce death toll estimates based on seriously flawed, unscientific computer modeling. I trust him less and less with every utterance.
#9 -- Shi Zhengli, China's pre-eminent expert in this field of research, has been studying bat-borne coronaviruses for nearly two decades. When she was apprised of the COVID-19 outbreak in Wuhan, she was surprised that it was in central China, rather than in the subtropical provinces where animal-to-human transmission was more likely, and wondered if the local health authorities had it wrong. She also wondered if it had originated in her lab.
Her research has been groundbreaking. She says the genetic sequence of the Wuhan virus does not match any of the samples in her experiments and that she could find nothing in the lab notes that suggested mishandling of samples or animals. It's not unheard of for lab techs in China to sell lab animals for some extra bucks rather than dispose of them properly. This could happen without her knowledge.
I saw a documentary that suggested that there are markers in the Wuhan virus that do not occur spontaneously, making a natural mutation unlikely. I consider the producers of the documentary to be credible and it is a persuasive argument. Could there be other virologists in the Wuhan lab who are using her research as a foundation for gain-of-function experiments? There is an image that the ChiComms released to prop up their narrative that the Wuhan lab observes the highest safety standards, but the seal on the refrigerator door is clearly damaged.
The lab is relatively new and it's China's first lab to meet the highest level of safety standards (if it actually does), but concerns by US observers about safety protocols were red-flagged years ago. The design and construction was originally contracted with French vendor(s) but they were fired mid-project and it was completed by Chinese vendors.
There is an article in Scientific American about China's "bat woman" that addresses the question. It's interesting, but I don't know who or what to believe anymore. She has a gun to her head.

Gavin Newsome gave $1 billion plus to China for a "deal" on masks. Wired the money before receiving mask #1. Nuts? Fauci is behind sending $3.7 million to the Wuhan lab to FURTHER study this virus presumably to protect Americans from getting sick. Did not get agreement to let our scientists have unlimited access to monitor what they were doing [which could have been to weaponize pestilence]. Nuts? Of course Fauci will say he thinks it was not purposely weaponized or released at the Lab, although China is the "mother of plagues" - SARS, MERS, CLIMATE - including bubonic, that travelled along the Silk Road to Europe years ago. Obama [married to a man - yes] took pallets of our money and gave it to the Iranians who would then agree NOT to make atomic bombs and blow up Israel. Never got them to sign a contract, or had oversight from Congress. Never cared he put a curse on us [Gen. 12:3] Nuts? Three examples of deep state leaders, with spiritual "tin-ears" for living in the "last days" they are enabling.

The people who wrote this article and published it know very well that they are misinforming people to control public opinion in favor of China. There are vast economic interests in this country and Asia with large investments in China that have tied their fates to the future of the CCP. By sitting on the boards and controlling the editorial policy of most of the major US media giants these people believe they can manipulate popular memes and hopefully discredit and defeat President Trump. Trump's election and his true understanding of China's real intentions in the world is an existential threat to their multi-decade plans to sell out our country to globalist interests. His re-election is the most important event in US history since the defeat of the Axis in WWII.
China has declared unrestricted warfare on the US and articles like this need to be viewed the same way that pro-Nazi articles were published by US newspapers in the '30s and '40s.

Dr. Fauci believed the WHO when it told him that the virus was noncommunicable to humans. He believed the models when they told him that 2.5 million people in the U.S. would die. He believes that HCQ requires many months of testing when it has already been used successfully for more than 2,000 patients in U.S. hospitals. Three strikes and you're out, Doctor. It's time to take away your car keys.

Notions that the virus was not manipulated in the lab, but spread because it simply 'escaped', seem to imply that it was already transmissible to humans in its natural form. There were enough humans proximal to the bats for long enough that if that were the case, it should have gone global long ago.
The article quotes Fausti as saying, "Everything about the stepwise evolution over time . . ."
As if the virus evolved before their very eyes, and they documented it closely enough to be able to trace the "steps"? This claim of his seems the most bizarre to me.
