Why I Didn’t Rat On My
Neighbor For Cutting Hair

Original Article

When the weather permits I like to work in my little backyard here in Brooklyn. It’s a 20’ by 25’ postage stamp of cement and dirt surrounded by the small plots of my neighbors. Over the past couple of weeks as New York City has endured its lockdown, I have noticed one neighbor, day in and day out, cutting people’s hair a few yards down. At first I thought maybe it’s just family haircuts, but unless this guy has old testament levels of offspring, it became clear he had set up shop. I even saw the cash exchanged once or twice.

Comments:

A lot of New Yorkers seem to feel that way, judging by the reaction to Mayor DeBlasio's snitch line.

The Dictator Whitmer has her hair, makeup, and nails done.. Botox is even a possibility.. But Michigan salons are closed until end of May... I can’t believe women in Michigan aren’t revolting.. Sure, we believe stay home, bend cure.. for maybe a month.. but 8 weeks? With sunshine, warmer temps? And roots a mile wide.. nope. Done!!

Women can't rebel if their stylists and nail techs won't. They know if they get caught they will be fined and perhaps lose their licence to practice. They could lose their livelihoods. It would be nice if they reveled but I don't think they will.

DeBlasio's (if that is his real name - like 0bama you never can tell) remaining in office is a far bigger threat to the well being of New Yorkers than anything someone in Brooklyn might do in their backyard.

All these shutdowns are going to create all sorts of black markets. The government is going to shoot itself in the foot when these people providing services 1) claim unemployment, 2) continue to work and get paid in cash, under the table, and 3) don't pay any taxes.

On CBS's Face the Nation on Sunday, former Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Dr. Scott Gottlieb said social distancing and other mitigation measures put in place to stop the spread of the Wuhan coronavirus don't appear to be working as much as public health experts had hoped. "When you look across the country, it's really a mixed bag," Dr. Gottlieb explained. The former FDA chief said while New York is really driving the national statistics, other areas of the country are continuing to see a rise in the number of coronavirus cases. Project Veritas has a new video out, focusing on funeral directors who are blowing the whistle on the alleged padding of Wuhan coronavirus death totals. The Project Veritas folks spoke with funeral directors out of New York who believed that the deaths were being attributed to the virus whether they were due to the virus or not. The tape reveals a completely haphazard approach, as James O’Keefe observes, marking down people as having the virus whether they had it or not. If people died at home people would rather put “COVID” rather than have to go into the home if the person had a fever,

In the eyes of many, Dallas salon owner Shelley Luther has become the latest face of justified resistance against governmental tyranny for her steadfast refusal to back down on keeping her business open despite the prospect of going to jail. Luther’s Salon a la Mode opened for business last Friday, then promptly got slapped with a court order to close because of coronavirus restrictions. Instead of meekly complying, as most others doubtless would have, Luther stood outside her salon and literally ripped the thing to shreds. Indeed, it was a moment that would have made Patrick Henry proud.

All my life, I have dismissed paranoids on the right (“America is headed to communism”) and the left (“It can happen here”—referring to fascism). It’s not that I’ve ever believed liberty was guaranteed. Being familiar with history and a pessimist regarding the human condition, I never believed that. But the ease with which police state tactics have been employed and the equal ease with which most Americans have accepted them have been breathtaking. To grasp the urgency of lifting the ubiquitous economic shutdowns, visit New York City’s Central Park, ideally in the morning. At 5:45 am, it is occupied by maybe 100 runners and cyclists, spread over 843 acres. A large portion of these early-bird exercisers wear masks. Are they trying to protect anyone they might encounter from their own unsuspected coronavirus infection? Perhaps. But if you yourself run towards an oncoming runner on a vector that will keep you at least three yards away when you pass each other, he is likely to lunge sideways in terror if your face is not covered.
