Dr. Victor Davis Hanson is a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, a military historian and a professor emeritus of classics at California State University, Fresno. He has written two articles relevant to today’s society. Last October he published, “Members of Previous Generations Now Seem Like Giants,” and he recently wrote, “Is America a Roaring Giant or Crying Baby?”In the first article, Hanson starts with some observations and questions regarding the greatness of previous generations compared with today’s Americans. He asks:

Of all the articles posted on Lucianne.com, I am never able to open one from Dailywire. Anyone else have that problem?

Yes, America has been dominated by every grievance and cry-baby issue that can be imagined. Politicians will indulge anyone that may be a potential vote. Our politicians have allowed us to become oppressed by all these special interest groups.
Can you imagine trying to build the Interstate Highway system now? The environmentalists would tie things up in the courts, so that it would never be done. Just look at what has happened in the attempt to build a few simple pipelines!
Consider (if you are old enough) what has happened to the relationships between people. Many are defensive. Others claim rights that do not exist. Men cannot compliment a woman (not harass!) for any reason- except for maybe her virtue signaling!
We can't even punish criminals, if they have political connections.

I am old. I was raised to believe in God and was taught certain things.I live in a Senior community. I discovered that people who don’t believe in God are terrified and even if they should hear “All Clear” They will not believe it and continue to isolate themselves refusing to open their doors to friends or family. Those of us that have FAITH know that it is God who decides. We will live our lives as free men. It is not brave to cower in your homes. The devil is very close to winning

Unfortunately, we are crying babies. Unable to discern that cradle to grave government nannyism means being slaves to the ruling class. They would control our vertical, our horizontal, our means to live and thrive, at their whim. This is not America, the land of the free, but Amerika, the land of the ruled. We are not subjects of DC.

You can see the 'crying babies' representing their companies in the WH press rooms daily.

Walter Williams and Vic Hanson, whom Williams cites in this article, are among the most intelligent and erudite conservative columnists of the past 30 years; however, I have to take issue with a statement that Williams attributes to Hanson: "...our other choice regarding the epidemic is whether to continue the partisan bickering and blaming." Partisan bickering is more like the spirited policy disagreements between President. Reagan and Tip O'Neill in the 1980s, not even in the same galaxy as the divide today between leftists and normal Americans. Today's divide is more like that between the Axis and Allied powers of WWII, and resolving this great divide would take a similar level of sacrifice and effort to which normal Americans appear unwilling to commit. Electing Donald Trump was a step in the right direction but his support among erstwhile Republicans in Congress and in the state houses has always been tepid and appears to be slipping as the impacts of the CCP virus, exacerbated by our solidly leftist media, takes its toll on our economy and dispenses with any notion of American cohesiveness, even in the face of an externally created and driven threat.

I admire Mr. Williams optimism - that we'll come back as a roaring giant. Unfortunately, groups like Antifa, BLM, La Raza, the LGBTQXXXX and the democrats are going to make sure we remain splintered and will never come together. And the numbers of people coming into the country identifying with these extremist groups is growing and growing and growing.

FTA: "My prediction is that Americans, left to their own tendencies, will roar together as giants and will ignore the political and media crybabies."
Based on what? The public's "heroic" response to COVIDS? This self-quarantine/social distance/economic shutdown will be our 21st Century "finest hour" in the history books.

I finally had an encounter with my neighbors after about six weeks. They've been holed up in their house afraid to come out. They are of course in that ever so snowflake age range. We have a walking and biking trail next our house, and it has been crowded with people mostly over the age of 50. One sees no one under thirty outside doing anything except running to their car. These snowflakes have been brainwashed into thinking that breathing fresh air will kill them. These must be the people who are being polled to get an 80% approval for all the shutdowns. They certainly aren't asking anyone who is going outside.
