GOP faces pressure to get tougher with Trump

Republicans in the Senate are under growing pressure to take the administration to task for its response to the coronavirus. GOP senators, with a few exceptions, have been reluctant to criticize the administration, but they are starting to re-evaluate that kid-glove treatment amid public frustration over the lack of virus testing kits and protective equipment and reports of taxpayer dollars going to questionable causes.

Here's a thought: how about the GOP start paying attention to its conservative voices and the people who elected them instead of busily lining their own pockets with tax dollars and inside information? Lack of testing kits? How is that Trump's fault? Same with PPE and as far as $$$ going to questionable causes, where is the GOP's spine in standing up to Pelosi and Schumer for the billions of dollars of pork they larded onto the supposed pandemic relief bills? The GOP would do better to get more in alignment with Trump's leadership and help navigate a way out of this mess before things get really ugly. greyseal

There is a concerted effort underfoot right now to attack and undermine the president. The NRSC is doing this also. Let them know how you feel! (202) 675-6000. We must not let this stand! Chair: Sen. Todd Young, R-Indiana; Exec. Dir.: Kevin McLaughlin Personally I think this is related to the exposure of Spygate and also China. If the President had not taken the steps to attack this virus in every way possible we would have had Katrina x 1,000,000. He has done an excellent job. Beyond human.

Pressure from the Swamp is what Trump has been dealing with since he began running for election. So, new? We the People are in two camps: the whiney, hide under our bed as we listen to Democrat talking points, and those willing to take prepared risks to get things going again. To be effective to a level to satisfy Ds and media (but I repeat myself) , testing must be done on every person,... every day. Got a billion test kits laying around ? That's enough for a couple of weeks. Testing is mostly useless, stupid, and obviously impossible. Testing ID's the number of cases which is irrelevant, except to foment more fear and further lockdowns.

Since it is a most likely scenario that Obamabots were still in place at the CDC, stories alleging that some kind of lab contamination held up the testing kits could be valid. They are going to undermine Trump, even at the expense of the public in this nation. Would not surprise me if Romney is dripping his toxic poison into as many Senate ears as he can, trying to foment rebellion among the senate members.

Roger Stone to appeal prison sentence, judge's denial of new trial © Greg Nash Roger Stone's lawyers told a court on Thursday that they intend to appeal the right-wing political operative's 40-month prison sentence and a judge's decision to deny him a new trial. Stone was convicted in November following a jury trial on charges of lying to Congress and witness tampering in a case that stemmed from his efforts to serve as a backchannel between President Trump's 2016 campaign and WikiLeaks. After the verdict was pronounced, his lawyers alleged that one of the jurors was biased against Stone because of political beliefs she had voiced on social media.

Just as his path to the Democratic nomination is clear, former Vice President Joe Biden faces questions in regards to allegations of sexual misconduct from former aide to then-Senator Biden, Tara Reade. Democrats and Biden’s allies on the cable news circuit have done their best to cover for the former vice president, but the credibility of Reade’s story continues to grow as her claims are bolstered by evidence and corroboration. Democrats threw out their original “believe all women” standard for misconduct allegations that was spearheaded by Senate Democrats during their character assassination of Justice Brett Kavanaugh in the fall of 2018

Democrats are seizing on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-Ky.) suggestion that states should be able to declare bankruptcy as the party looks to bring his Kentucky seat into play. The GOP leader has made his outsized influence in Washington a key pillar of his campaign, positioning himself as the driving force behind Congress’s coronavirus relief bills and touting his efforts to score critical federal aid for his state. But Democrats believe McConnell’s remarks — that states facing budget shortfalls amid the pandemic should be able to “use the bankruptcy route” — blow a hole in his reelection argument.

How nervous are some Democrats about Joe Biden's chances against President Trump this November? Nervous enough to entertain the notion that another Democrat, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, might swoop in and save the day. Cuomo, who has been governor for nearly a decade and has one of the most famous names in Democratic politics, found new prominence when his state became the epicenter of the coronavirus crisis in the United States. In February and March, some New York officials urged the public to maintain regular activities even as the virus took hold in the state, leading to the worst outbreak in the country.
