Conservative activist and #Blexit founder Candace Owens has called out doctors and nurses for posing in a “blasphemous” image emulating Leonardo da Vinci’s iconic, 15th-century Last Supper mural painting.
On Twitter, Owens described the photo of healthcare workers imitating Jesus and the apostles apparently taken at a Paris hospital, as “nauseating” and “sacrilegious.”
She strongly disagreed with the implication that healthcare workers on the job during the coronavirus pandemic are comparable to what Jesus went through.
According to Summit News, the Da Vinci re-creation was posted to the Instagram page of the Hôpital de la Salpêtrière, with a caption that read “Huge thanks to our daily heroes!” as translated from French.

I live in a country where allegedly the 1st amendment in inforce.....so....Im not gonna get my knickers in a twist.
For the sake of consistency, the original oil painting itself is technically blasphemous.

The staging sucks, and these arrogant medics feel they have the status to elevate themselves.
Democrat atheists taking a break before they "abort" post-birth babies, maybe? Is Gov. Northam among them?

Apparently our heroic front-line workers have way too much free time on their hands.
Who's idea was this? I'd like to know. Be loud and proud, why don't ya.

Candace Owens, once someone to pay attention to, continues her descent into dumbf*ckery. Leonardo da Vinci wasn’t even a Christian. His “Last Supper” painting has been imitated and parodied hundreds of times. So what? Candace, you would stifle free speech if it meant getting attention for yourself.

#4 It's about context. I have the greatest respect for health care professionals, especially the nurses and CNAs who cared for my dad in a nursing home. Yes, The Last Supper has been parodied before. But this was not the time or event to do that. Bad context; poor taste. They are not heroes. They have demanding and stressful careers; no argument there. Read a book titled The Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors, or another one titled Neptune's Inferno, or another one titled Ghost Soldiers. Read a few citations describing the actions of Medal of Honor awardees. Then we can talk about stress and sacrifice.

I agree with Candice that patting your back should be left for someone else to do. But not enough to get excited about.

Candace is right to label this a sacrilege. Progressives are always eager to ridicule the Christian faith.

Tweet was removed.
This might not make waves but for the fact that authoritarian mayors and governors closed the churches during Holy Week, when the original event is supposed to be celebrated with great solemnity. If not for that context this slap in the face would probably get little attention.

The tweet is still there #10, it was not removed. And I highly doubt Candace would ever back down on this, especially since she is 100% correct.

Don't worry, Candace, it didn't happen the way DaVinci portrayed it anyway. There are more important battles to fight than this childishness.

OK Parisian healthcare workers, now do the part where you're scourged, a crown of thorns rips through your scalp, you carry a tree on your bare and bleeding back through town while people spit on you and mock you, and then your hands and feet are nailed to that tree where you hang for hours before, finally, your side is lanced with a spear.

Hmm, seems to me a better portrayal would have been to use various people from jobs that have been completely shut down or erased by the lock down. I'm thinking a hair dresser, hotel housekeeper, bar tender, librarian, factory worker (from a factory deemed non-essential), bank teller, life guard, amusement park worker, flight attendant, you get the drift. Those are the ones being pushed around by the government. I work, used to work, for a large hotel, but that industry has been gutted by this virus and the fear of getting it/passing it on. We won't come back for a long time. Heck, you could fill that entire table with the different jobs found in a hotel and it would be way more meaningful to me.
That said, I think the image was tasteless. First Amendment is great. I love it. That's why I feel free to give my opinion of the image.

That painting as staged is nothing more than a product of DaVinci’s imagination. I don’t perceive any sacrilege here.

I'm not seeing the big deal. Yes its stupid, but oh well. Nobody is harmed by this stupidity.
It does remind me of that old joke about the difference between God and a doctor. God doesn't think he's a doctor.

No apologies for saying the tweet was removed, #10 -- when I clicked on the link to the tweet yesterday afternoon, Twitter said that page does not exist. If that happens again, I'll report just that, not that the tweet was removed.
The same link today brings up the tweet at issue. Pretty lame, but far from the most nauseating imitation. The blasphemy is more subtle than some of the 'art' portraying some notorious Leftist in place of Christ on the cross. And as far as Last Supper imitations, you ought to see some of the disgusting 'art' coming out of the Castro District around Easter time, most of which intends either to blaspheme and offend, or to claim Jesus and his Apostles were gay.
