China filed a patent for a drug seen as one of the best potential weapons against coronavirus the day after it confirmed human transmission of the disease. The revelation that it moved so fast fuels concerns about a cover-up of the pandemic when it erupted in Wuhan last year, and suggests that China’s understanding of the virus was far advanced from the impression given by its public stance.(Snip) The application was made by Wuhan Institute of Virology, the top-secret bio-laboratory at the centre of concerns about a possible leak of the disease from its research on bats, and the country’s Military Medicine Institute.

The virus's escape was either accidental or on purpose. The Chicoms will benefit from destroying the world's economies and will benefit from the world's recovery from the Wuhan Lab's coronavirus. Gibb's rule #39 applies here.

Patent ? for China ? We don't need no steenkin Chinee patents. As a matter of fact let's just embargo and tariff everything they make. Times are tough but Americans are too. We'll start making it all here. Let them sell their inferior crap to Wal-Mart in Belgium.

I wondered how China could file for a patent on an already-patented US drug. Here’s how:
Since the rights granted by a U.S. patent extend only throughout the territory of the United States and have no effect in a foreign country, an inventor who wishes patent protection in other countries must apply for a patent in each of the other countries or in regional patent offices.

Recommend a read of entire article to learn of Gilead’s response to this and also what is going on re study of this drug for COVID-19. It was developed for ebola.

Same O, Same O. The Chicoms steal the IP from us then take credit for the invention.

I was invested in Gilead and I figured this would happen when these thieves were supposedly testing the drug. They copied it ...no surprise. The whole damn country is built on theft from the West. No more Chinese "students" in our labs !

Let’s see if Hunter Biden was a consultant on this deal. How convenient and clever of the Chinese. Create the virus, design a treatment for it, patent it in the US then release it on the world. Looks like they cornered the market. Brilliant. Let’s see what Trump has to say about all of this.

I haven't read one darn word, comments or story...a stream of consciousness, if you will.
Does it begin with an 'R'...?

Of course there's a world wide coverup. Soros and pals came thisclose to their one world order. We now see just how far they are willing to go to get what they want. Thank god for Trump.

The Chinese people desperately need rescuing from their leaders. Too bad there isn't a Sun Wu Kong in this day and age.

#1, I seriously doubt that China will benefit from this. My bet is that they will be seriously harmed by this. Huge numbers ofcompanies will be pulling out of China, finding other sources for supply.

I always thought that the only thing China made and didn't steal was gun powder. Now I think they probably stole that from the Indians, like they did their martial arts.

China is cynically pretending to be the victim of their own crime against humanity. We will never see the internal memos and plans but the "accidental" release of the virus they were researching fits their historic myth of the "assassin's mace". This is the perfect secret weapon that the weaker but more devious opponent pulls from their robe to slay the more powerful contender just at the last moment.
For us the last moment was the signing of the Phase One trade deal and the apparent triumph of Trump. They added a "force majure" clause just before signing knowing everything that was going on in Wuhan. The perfect weapon is one that doesn't even appear to be a weapon. It uses the opponent's own weakness (fragile consumer economy and compassion for vulnerable populations) to undo in a month what was built up over decades.
But the blow won't kill us and the CCP has one giant Achilles heel. Their economy is a giant Ponzi scheme that depends on a massive positive current account balance (capital flowing into the country) to keep their insolvent banks from collapsing. Any attempt by the US government to reverse this right now will threaten US companies who have invested heavily in China.
The secret weapon we have is the will of the American consumer. If people organize at a grassroots level to monitor what they buy and only buy goods from US or non-Chinese Asian nations, the economics of making things in China will change. If CEOs also support this non-governmental action and move their supply chains out of China the Ponzi scheme will collapse along with the CCP. Things will cost more but that is a small price to pay to break China's stranglehold on our future.
Of course, China is betting that Americans and their leaders are too weak, stupid and corrupt to actually sustain this kind of national boycott. After all, it was incredibly easy to dupe the Americans into sending their jobs to them in the first place and with a little more pain they might just put the Obama China architect back in power in November. Beijing may be laughing at our pain now but the battle is not over if we can get back in the fight.

How unfortunate our government doesn't have a spine. Every politician with a financial connection to China should be exposed. It is up to us to stop buying cheap junk from China.

I don't think it's about money. I believe this was a contrived, well planned, and deliberate attempt to bring America down to its knees. At this time no matter how the virus appeared in Wuhan, escaping from the lab on purpose most probably; America will eventually figure it out. China wants to be on top and has been working to that end for a long, long time. They would have loved Obama to have stayed in The White House for ever, and will welcome Biden with open arms. Donald Trump was the last thing they wanted. It's a long time since they had to deal with a man who made promises on the campaign trail and once in Washington put them into action. China deliberately released its citizens with the virus onto airplanes to travel the world, but most were sent to all areas of the U.S., especially to cities with huge populations. They didn't care about the people they sent, only about them infecting as many Americans as possible. And of course they worked on depleting our supply of masks and are doing everything possible to hold up any medicines we need. The masks they sent to Canada are useless for hospital workers. Their plan would have been working much better had President Trump "worked" like his predecessor and spent his time on golf courses and goofing off with sports stars. America should be ever thankful that we have a man in office who loves this country and cares about the people. Because of him we will work through this. Nightmares could be made on Hillary dealing with this virus.

Haha, how fortuitous! And very Chinese, patenting a drug they did not invent.
