China filed a patent for a drug seen as one of the best potential weapons against coronavirus the day after it confirmed human transmission of the disease. The revelation that it moved so fast fuels concerns about a cover-up of the pandemic when it erupted in Wuhan last year, and suggests that China’s understanding of the virus was far advanced from the impression given by its public stance.(Snip) The application was made by Wuhan Institute of Virology, the top-secret bio-laboratory at the centre of concerns about a possible leak of the disease from its research on bats, and the country’s Military Medicine Institute.

Haha, how fortuitous! And very Chinese, patenting a drug they did not invent.

The virus's escape was either accidental or on purpose. The Chicoms will benefit from destroying the world's economies and will benefit from the world's recovery from the Wuhan Lab's coronavirus. Gibb's rule #39 applies here.

I wondered how China could file for a patent on an already-patented US drug. Here’s how: Since the rights granted by a U.S. patent extend only throughout the territory of the United States and have no effect in a foreign country, an inventor who wishes patent protection in other countries must apply for a patent in each of the other countries or in regional patent offices.

China is cynically pretending to be the victim of their own crime against humanity. We will never see the internal memos and plans but the "accidental" release of the virus they were researching fits their historic myth of the "assassin's mace". This is the perfect secret weapon that the weaker but more devious opponent pulls from their robe to slay the more powerful contender just at the last moment. For us the last moment was the signing of the Phase One trade deal and the apparent triumph of Trump. They added a "force majure" clause just before signing knowing everything that was going on in Wuhan. The perfect weapon is one that doesn't even appear to be a weapon. It uses the opponent's own weakness (fragile consumer economy and compassion for vulnerable populations) to undo in a month what was built up over decades. But the blow won't kill us and the CCP has one giant Achilles heel. Their economy is a giant Ponzi scheme that depends on a massive positive current account balance (capital flowing into the country) to keep their insolvent banks from collapsing. Any attempt by the US government to reverse this right now will threaten US companies who have invested heavily in China. The secret weapon we have is the will of the American consumer. If people organize at a grassroots level to monitor what they buy and only buy goods from US or non-Chinese Asian nations, the economics of making things in China will change. If CEOs also support this non-governmental action and move their supply chains out of China the Ponzi scheme will collapse along with the CCP. Things will cost more but that is a small price to pay to break China's stranglehold on our future. Of course, China is betting that Americans and their leaders are too weak, stupid and corrupt to actually sustain this kind of national boycott. After all, it was incredibly easy to dupe the Americans into sending their jobs to them in the first place and with a little more pain they might just put the Obama China architect back in power in November. Beijing may be laughing at our pain now but the battle is not over if we can get back in the fight.

I don't think it's about money. I believe this was a contrived, well planned, and deliberate attempt to bring America down to its knees. At this time no matter how the virus appeared in Wuhan, escaping from the lab on purpose most probably; America will eventually figure it out. China wants to be on top and has been working to that end for a long, long time. They would have loved Obama to have stayed in The White House for ever, and will welcome Biden with open arms. Donald Trump was the last thing they wanted. It's a long time since they had to deal with a man who made promises on the campaign trail and once in Washington put them into action. China deliberately released its citizens with the virus onto airplanes to travel the world, but most were sent to all areas of the U.S., especially to cities with huge populations. They didn't care about the people they sent, only about them infecting as many Americans as possible. And of course they worked on depleting our supply of masks and are doing everything possible to hold up any medicines we need. The masks they sent to Canada are useless for hospital workers. Their plan would have been working much better had President Trump "worked" like his predecessor and spent his time on golf courses and goofing off with sports stars. America should be ever thankful that we have a man in office who loves this country and cares about the people. Because of him we will work through this. Nightmares could be made on Hillary dealing with this virus.

More than 200 deep-pocketed public companies secured at least $854.7million in loans from the relief fund Congress created to help small businesses devastated by the coronavirus pandemic, according to a new analysis. The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) was created to provide emergency loans to businesses with fewer than 500 employees and without access to other forms of capital to help keep workers on the job and bills paid on time. The initial $349billion allotment ran dry less than two weeks after the program opened on April 3, sparking outrage as early reports showed that dozens of multi-million dollar loans were granted to big public companies

President Trump seems increasingly ambivalent about the utility of the daily and sometime marathon press conferences. He should be — and for reasons besides just their length and frequency. First, Trump gets bogged down into long, back-and-forth jousts with the touché Washington press corps. His impromptu skills, honed both as president and in his years on television, usually ensure him tactical victories. He is not peremptory but retaliatory in his put-downs. Fine. Most Americans don’t especially like the Washington press corps. So they don’t mind them earning the repartee that their rude provocation deserves. But Trump’s victories are becoming Pyrrhic.

When you think of it, it's nothing short of incredible that Joe Biden is the presumptive nominee for the Democratic Party. One might have thought 2016 would have been Biden's year (if he was ever going to have a time at bat), since Barack Obama's two-term presidency had just ended, and most vice presidents who try for the top spot do so immediately following their bosses' departures. But, as is often the case in politics these days, party nominees can result from when the party decides it's someone's "turn." That was the case the last go-around: the Democrats decided that it was Hillary's turn,
