HOUSTON - Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo signed the order Wednesday."We need everyone to understand we’re in this for the long haul," Hidalgo said. Hidalgo said a face-covering means anything like a mask, scarf or bandanna is acceptable. Those who refuse this order risk getting fined up to $1,000."To be clear this is not a recommendation. This is something that we have to do for the sake of our safety, of our lives and our economy. Because if we don’t do this, we won’t see those cases come down. If we’re not prepared to wear masks, once we begin lifting the order, that spread is going to come right back,"

I wonder on what authority she has issued this edict? She needs to be caught up short and if possible, removed from her job...

It's a liberal county in Texas. What do you expect? I hope these stupid and demanding requirements make people think twice when voting.

Sad thing is too many people THINK, “Awe they are just trying to keep us safe”! Take care of yourselves, live your lives and GET OVER THE DRAMA!

She is just a young college grad who thinks she can order people around because she is a county "judge". The Houston PD told her they will ignore her order, as they have real crime to deal with. She was lucky to be elected, and most likely won't win reelection next time. She's a fine example of a little power going to one's head.

I'd just go down in the storage room and get my favorite Halloween mask. There! How's this? Hope I didn't scare you or anything...

Hidalgo lies daily about this situation. Harris County is already seeing cases come down, according to its own website. New cases peaked at 344 on April 10, and was 50 on April 21. Maybe now that there is push back from the police officers' union, the media will do its job and investigate her assertions instead of simply parroting them as though they were factual. The media has already pointed out the waste and graft of $60 million on Hidalgo's popup hospital that went unused, they need to continue to critically analyze what else this tyrant wannabe is doing.

Notice that the major cities cited in the article that require masks are run by Democrats. Our Governor, on the other hand, has done a pretty good job not trampling on people's rights. Sylvester Turner (mayor of Houston and endorser of Michael Bloomberg) explained the mask situation to citizens of Harris County like he was talking to elementary school kids. He should have started out his news conference with, "Listen boys and girls....."

Pray tell, WHERE ARE YOU SUPPOSE TO BUY THEM? Masks are not being sold at the grocery stores or pharmacies where I live.
The judge just made a law that people cannot comply with. They are suppose to be more honest and intelligent than that. Just remember, this is all being done in the name of public safety so that makes it ok (/s).
We are seeing many people at their worse in this crisis: Stupid, ignorant, fearful, dishonest, and tyrannical. Its not a pretty picture.
Beginning to think God is trying to show us something. About ourselves. We have to do better than this.

Not so fast...Texas Gov. Abbott has his own Constitutional issues with this Louisiana traveler quarantine edict. And what has he done to re-open the economy there? Oh, he's putting together a committee to create a plan. That's real "common sense" action. Let's have business people who are now dying financially on the vine of unstopped overhead (rent, utilities, insurance, etc.) wait for Austin "experts" to tell them how to run their affairs. Apparently Texas can mess itself just fine.

IIRC, she was recently told what she could do with that order too. It wasn't pretty.

Born in Columbia.....and 27.
Both good reasons NOT to be in any sort of a 'judge' position. Is there a way to recall county judges in Texas?
