We all know that decisions are based on best guesses about future events. We don’t get to make prospective decisions with the benefit of hindsight. (snip) On the same show during which Bill Maher earned deserved kudos for attacking mainstream media’s execrable, emotion-laden, dishonest coverage of the Wuhan virus, he made the mistake of trying to debate Rep. Dan Crenshaw about whether Trump’s response to the Wuhan virus was timely. If we could all learn to debate as Crenshaw does, the world would be a better, more logical, well-ordered, and well-run place.

To Maher's credit, he is one of the very few liberal talk show hosts who have pointed out how Islam is totalitarian, with its roots & origins based upon antisemitism. Having said that, he is just a talk show host, and his job is to raise the ratings for his show so sponsors pay more for airtime during his time. When Trump was rinning back in 2016, Ann Coulter was part of a panel on his show reviewing the then-candidates. When she was asked who the likely Republican candidate, she answered "of the declared candidates, Donald Trump". The laughter was immediate, the reaction from the other panelists was eye-rolling, incredulity, head shaking, and scorn. And THAT is the network that Bill Maher works on and works for. He is one of the talking heads who works for the ones who want to keep us ignorant, stupid , and amused. Without the proper information we cannot make proper judgements. Watching Crenshaw address all of Maher's spin-ology makes me ask: why can't we have a plain old news-ticker? No spin, no opinion, just FACTS. Facts in their proper timeline, with comparisons to other facts in the same timeline. Knowing WHAT was done and WHEN it was done and WHO did it will let us determine WHY it was done.

The best response I have ever seen to a liberal hack. Maher was outclassed and outsmarted and frankly in way over his head. Dan Crenshaw is a national treasure.

This follows a familiar pattern: Polite conversation over an issue, the introduction of incorrect or misleading information, the polite rebuttal, and shortly thereafter the troll snipe, name-calling or shout of "Bully!", usually followed by pointing out how everything has gotten so "toxic" these days.
I'm no fan, but I'll give Maher credit for generally forgoing the last act.

Priceless - the repeated “deer in the headlights “ expression on Maher’s face followed by ok, let’s drop that topic and move on to my next lie.

Can't wait for Crenshaw to win OUR presidency. He'd be our own Moshe Dayan.

Wasn't it Howard Stern, whose father worked in tech in radio and worked with Maher's father, and young Billy would show up after school, and the verdict was :he isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer."

Maher can't debate as well without his fawning, cheering masses as audience.
One thing we might gain from the lockdown is that we don't need preening, made-up, wig or toupe wearing news people spinning for us on the air 24-7.
A newsfeed on screen is a great idea to replace them all.
You can pick: News, weather, sports, etc.
Then the scroll begins.
No more teases, no more spins.

Maher is a pretty smart guy who is knowingly and deliberately mangling facts to push his agenda. I suspect that most people he does this to either lack the smarts or the guts to confront him.
Enter Crenshaw, a man of true intelligence, determination, and deep calm that allows him to happily dismantle Maher's arguments, even suggesting at one point that Maher is agreeing with Trump, which sets Maher back on his heels and hilariously, is somewhat true.
I credit Maher with having enough integrity not to go the screaming route when he was overmatched.
I also give him credit for taking the tough interviews. Many media people won't take on a Crenshaw or Cruz that might bury them in reality. They invite a Rummey or a NeverTrumper who are muddled and useless.

RE #2:
Frankly, without his audience egging him on, Bill Maher is over his head in a mud puddle!! About as deep, too!!

Agree with #9. Without his sneering, jeering, clapping seals in the audience Maher is reduced to making stupid faces and looking like a fool. I'm hoping dumb, liberal audiences for all the talk shows is a thing of the past!
