Here in Sweden we're

For the first (and probably last) time in living memory, the whole world seems to care about the domestic policy of my plucky little home country. Sweden’s approach to dealing with coronavirus has been hailed by some, but the majority of commentators seem to think we’re conducting some kind of heartless and dangerous experiment. Even Donald Trump has attacked us. For those that aren’t aware, while the rest of the world has been shutting down schools, shops and restaurants, banning non-essential travel, and sending the police to shout at those who dare to dawdle in their local park, Sweden remains largely open for business.

#1 it will be interesting to see if that rate is over a shorter period of time. From just a numbers perspective, let's see if our approach vs Sweden is a long term loss vs massive short term. This doesn't take into account the massive temporary blow to so many people's finances, but this comparison would give a glimpse into the herd immunization theory.

I dont know how they do science in Sweden, but here in the US it is so tainted by politics it is no more reliable than Greta Thunberg, who is from Sweden come to think of it. They might want to rethink that worship of science.

This "shut down" needs to end when it gets warm. When the lilac bloom it is time to end wherever you are. The virus might be slowed down but it is endemic, you need to avoid it just like you should for pneumonia or the flu. Maybe there will be a vaccine but it can't come soon enough and we have reached a point when doctors and hospitals are better capable of dealing with it.

It's not science it's just common sense with numbers. Since COVID-19 was marketed as a brand new deadly threat that would produce huge numbers of sick and dead, each country had to make a fast decision on how to combat it. Our conclusion has become "not so bad after all" and we will use the data being produced to handle the next threat in a better way. However, the American people will not be so fast to toe the line like they did this time. A couple of weeks would have been fine but these constant two-week extensions are hurting more than helping. In business, when you asked to define a deadline for a project, you give yourself ample time up front, estimate for the unknowns and then make sure you meet the date. If you keep extending the completion date you soon find yourself out the door.

Anthony Fauci on Wednesday said there's no evidence that shows the anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine is effective at treating COVID-19. "Clearly the scientific data is really quite evident now about the lack of efficacy for it," Fauci, the nation's top infectious disease doctor, said during a CNN interview. Fauci said evidence also shows the likelihood that the drug can cause severe irregular heart rhythms. "There was suspicion of that for a while, but as data comes in, it becomes more clear," Fauci said. The pronouncements mark Fauci's strongest warnings yet against the drug and puts him at odds with President Trump, who has embraced the drug as a "game changer" and a "miracle."

Harvard psychology professor Steven Pinker said Thursday that the push for reopening society from lockdowns comes from Christianity’s “malignant delusion” of belief in an afterlife. Atheists who believe in this life alone are more concerned with health and safety, Professor Pinker suggested in a Tweet, while Christians tend to devalue “actual lives” and live a riskier existence. Belief in an afterlife is a malignant delusion, since it devalues actual lives and discourages action that would make them longer, safer, and happier. TUCSON, Ariz. - In a letter to Gov. Doug Ducey of Arizona, the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS) presents a frequently updated table of studies that report results of treating COVID-19 with the anti-malaria drugs chloroquine (CQ) and hydroxychloroquine (HCQ, Plaquenil®). To date, the total number of reported patients treated with HCQ, with or without zinc and the widely used antibiotic azithromycin, is 2,333, writes AAPS, in observational data from China, France, South Korea, Algeria, and the U.S. Of these, 2,137 or 91.6 percent improved clinically.
