Emma Lazarus could not imagine, when writing the 1883 sonnet inscribed on the Statute of Liberty, that the words of lines 10 and 11 -- “Give me your tired, your poor,/ Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free” -- would bear such relevance to the situation now being endured by American citizens under government lockdown thanks to a global pandemic midwifed by scientists in a Chinese viral research lab in Wuhan.

Sobieski nails it!
FTE: They want to “flatten the curve” by crushing our hopes and dreams. They seek treatments and a cure for a virus, ignoring the health-care costs of crushed lives and dreams, the human costs of lost jobs and careers, of nest eggs broken on the ground, of people who used to provide for their families fighting in stores over rolls of toilet paper

In Michigan -the health care industry is takeing Massive hits- as are the people. No ‘elective’ surgeries means anything you elect to do following a doctor consult. We are not talking plastic surgery for a tummy tuck.. we are talking doctor recommended procedures-c sections postponed, stent valve heart procedure postponed.
Yes, hospitals needed space at onset.. maybe. Detroit is still a mess why? Don’t know.. but small hospitals are going bankrupt, shuttered, and staff laid off. The draconian over reach in Michigan is precisely why Dem should never lead again.. btw Whitmer worked for Soros at some point in her career.. need we say more?

Re: Reply 2: There is draconian over reach in New York State as well. New York City is where the Covid problem is, not upstate New York. In my small small upstate City there are less than 5 Covid 19 patients in the hospital and acres of empty hospital parking lots.

I think the folks in Michigan have the right idea. If enough of them come out at one time, what can the gestapo do about it! I think this is going to become the new normal. People are just going to ignore the rules, open their stores and shops, and go about their business. What in the world is going to change in another week or two when the government plans to open up this country for business. We're ready NOW to get the heck out of our house and go about our lives! If I lived in MI, I would be out there marching with the rest of them!!

Anyone who doubts the dictatorial desires of the leftist leaders in towns, cities, counties, states and DC should ask themselves why it is OK to practice social distancing at Walmart, the marijuana shop or the abortion clinic but not at church.
BTW, #3, try reading the article. #1 was quoting it.

In my tri county area there are three positive tests and no hospitalizations. Elective surgeries have been postponed, businesses shuttered and residents wearing masks and socially distancing. THREE positive tests and no serious illnesses. Time to get back to work.

The people that insist on extending the lock down want to remake America. Their goal is to “Turn us into tired, poor, huddled masses yearning to breathe free,” by destroying the economy that made the United States one of the most prosperous nations in the world and turn it into a totalitarian dystopia.

They should protest the virus. That's the real cause of the misery.
Whether government did anything or not this pandemic was going to wreak the economy. Now, it's not going to return to normal until people are convinced it's safe, and it's not safe yet. We are still at the peak of the pandemic.

FTA - "The Wuhan pandemic is a liberal/progressive dream come true. It gives them the recession they have prayed for to oust President Trump."
Surely, Daniel, you don't think this pandemic was engineered and planned to appear as an accident? Just because the Chinese, dims, msm, and globalists hate Trump. And just because Chinese President Xi warned Trump as to catastrophic consequences if he goes ahead with the trade deal. And just because Putie started an oil & gas price war precisely when the pandemic got out of control in America. And just because it is an election year in America. And just because Trump is poised to take the election in a landslide. Naw, all just a coincidence, right?

OK, I am ready for a National Jail Break Day. On May 1 the wife and I are going to get in our car and drive somewhere. It doesn't matter where so long as it takes a few hours. Heck, gas is cheap. Oh, just to be stuck in traffic again. What a beautiful sight that would be. We will honk and waive at other jail breakers. We will pick up lunch at a drive-through, hopefully waiting in a line cars. Let the politicians and media feel the power of the American people voting with their automobiles, showing them that as far as we are concerned it must end now. No mass testing over months of job-crushing idleness. Care to join us? Pass it along to everyone you know.

Why wait until May 1, #13? We’ve been doing all of those things the entire time this nonsense has been going on and we are 45 miles from DC.

The radical Congressional Democrats, led by Nancy Pelosi, essentially want the US economy to stay shutdown until there is “adequate testing” of every American and an effective vaccine for the COVID-19 virus. That could take a year or eighteen months or more, and by then the economy could end up being the size of the economy of Bangladesh. Those Democrats main political focus is defeating President Trump in the election by hook or by trick, along with many of them believing that the economy throughout the USA must be destroyed in order for it to be rebuilt in keeping in some sort of socialist model. No doubt those are the Democrat objectives right now, as Pelosi showed her true colors yesterday by publicly saying that everyone should just stay home, test, and trace. Pelosi’s opinion conflicts with the opinion of Dr. Deborah Brix given at a recent corona virus briefing advising that testing every person (330 million) living in America is not necessary, and would not be possible. Common sense will tell you such testing of every American will take a long time, and would not be effective as a person could test negative one day and then positive the next day. Tracing means that anytime a person tests positive for the virus, that an investigation be initiated to track down everyone who that person was in contact with for the last two weeks and testing them. The reason all that above certain random testing in emerging “hotspots” would be impossible is that there are not enough medical and public health personnel in existence to test, and trace the contacts of every American who tests positive.
Beyond that there are too many facts now emerging for anyone who has been paying attention, that China spreading the virus around the world was by accident or a bunch of coincidences, as China allowed huge numbers of Chinese to fly out of Wuhan, China, to international destinations, while knowing that a percentage of those Chinese were infected with the virus, thus facilitating those travelers to spread the virus internationally through person to person contact. All the while keeping secret the high level of virus contagion, and the known person to person spreading aspects of the virus that was known to the Government of China at the time.

Yes, and I am concerned that on January 11, 2017 Fauci said this: “no doubt, Trump will be confronted with a surprise infectious disease”. How did Fauci know that in 2017? It makes a person wonder what he knew. . .
Not only does this American yearn to breathe free, I would like the truth. . .

Wuhan wasn't invented by tyrannical Progressives (although they wish they had years ago) they are taking full advantage of the 'crisis'. Many, but not all, citizens know this and are planning for the full Monte sometime in the future.

Just saw a doctor on tv who said he wouldn't open up until there were zero cases of the virus. This is just more evidence that relying on doctors to tell the rest of us when we can get back to normal is just plain stupid. This guy won't lose his job. He doesn't have to wonder how he's going to pay his mortgage or any other bills. He doesn't have to wonder if his business is going to go under because of no revenue coming in. Enough of asking these media hounds what they would do.
