I know it’s unpopular, but I’ve been saying Trump got played from the beginning. This is on him, now. He has to call for the American people to rise in the face of Democrat, totalitarian rule that is unconstitutional. It’s looking like America died without so much as a single shot being fired (other than those from the criminals who were just let out of jail).

Sounds like the old joke about the Soviet Union in the 70s.. Russian guy finally saves up enough money to buy one of the Russian lawn mower/cars. He goes to the car seller and buys the car. The seller tells him, okay, your car will be delivered on June 28th in 1984 (about eight years away). The buyer asks, "Is that going to be in the morning or afternoon?" and the seller says, "Hey, that's eight years away. I don't know. Why do you need to know/" "Well," says the buyer, "the plumber is coming in that morning."

In the 70's when gasoline went out of control, Washington State would only allow you to buy 5 gallons of gas and if your license plate number ended with an even number, you could buy on even number days. Same with odd numbers. I don't recall how long that lasted.

Sensing the growing restlessness of the American people over heavy-handed actions taken by some states, President Donald Trump took to social media Friday to call on voters to “LIBERATE” several swing states from their Democratic governors. No state has been more draconian in responding to the coronavirus pandemic than Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, as the Democrat has taken to dictating what stores can and cannot sell. Items she deems to be nonessential, such as lawn and gardening supplies, are cordoned off from customers. In three separate tweets, the president called on Michigan, Minnesota and Virginia to liberate themselves. Way back on Feb. 23, The Post ran an opinion piece by Steven Mosher saying that we couldn’t trust China’s story about the origins of COVID-19. The coronavirus struck America during an era of polarization. Politics was bitterly divided. The two sides did not just disagree. Partisans existed in separate realities, with different religious commitments, moral attitudes, policy priorities, and sources of information. The gaps between blue states and red states, and between the rural and urban areas within them, seemed unbridgeable. Some analysts spoke of a "cold civil war." Its resolution would decide the nation's fate. The pandemic put this rhetoric of crisis in perspective. The public has less patience for trolling and kayfabe when the death toll rises above 26,000 people (at the time of writing). Competence matters more than celebrity.
