An inmate freed from the Hillsborough County Jail in Tampa to prevent the spread of the coronavirus is back behind bars after allegedly murdering a man the day after his release, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said late Tuesday. Joseph Edwards Williams, 26, was sprung from jail along with 163 detainees said to be low-level offenders on March 19, according to records from the Sheriff’s Office. Mr. Williams had been arrested on March 13 for possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. Local authorities say he fatally shot a man on March 20 in the county’s Progress Village area.

Reckless, wanton behavior...that's the charge the Governor should face for releasing thugs back into society...so, does this count as a COVID-19 victim?
Oh, and Florida's governor is not a Democrat.

My apologies for my Post #3. Apparently this inmate was released on local authority, NOT by the governor. Nonetheless, whoever allowed this release should face charges.

Just to clarify, this was an inmate from a County Jail, not a State Prison. The blame rests squarely on the shoulders of the County Sheriff, not the Governor.

It's hard to believe the liberals never saw this coming when they dreamed up their Corona virus prison amnesty. But....no matter, what's a few murder victims when you're trying to drum up votes for November. I'm sure the illegal and felon votes look like a ripe plum to the left.

As someone pointed out on another thread, non-violent may simply mean that there was a plea bargain dropping charges down to a lower level. I wonder if that is taken into account. Also, we are not releasing people from nursing homes that I know of, although I think many could be temporarily relocated to apartments or empty hotel rooms, along with home health care, so why release convicts? Sad to leave them in such close proximity, but in this case a truly innocent life was lost.

Shocked, I'm absolutely shocked. Are you freakin kidding me. Look at NYC, crime is up 75% since they started letting these animals out of jail. They are in jail for a reason, they are committing crimes. Liberals think that when arrested its their first crime, its all new. No, its the first time they got caught. This is not their first rodeo. When is this country going to wake up.

Nobody has a clue what crimes these people committed. Our judicial system is so screwed we'd let a murderer plea down to tearing off a mattress tag.

Amazing how the left leaning wackos have it backwards. The law abiding people are asked and sometimes ordered to stay in doors unless circumstances dictate otherwise. Law breakers are let free because they might catch the virus. The inmates have finally taken over the asylum. This story out of Florida is only the beginning of more horror stories to come. Wake up America. Ronald Reagan said that we were only one generation away from losing all of our freedoms. The clock is ticking.

Define low level offender. Thirty five charges before murder.
According to locals, no one in prison is guilty. You are just picking on him.
