It is clear that the time is approaching that will be absolutely decisive for this presidency and for the country’s near-term future. The president will have to decide on an economic relaunch plan, and this will make or break him and his opponents.
The vast amount of posturing and accusatory liberties that already surpass what is normal in even the most contentious of election years will be of no account, depending on the outcome of the president’s decision of when and how to conduct the United States back to normal life. The Democrats have advocated a lengthy shutdown, leaving plenty of room to impute to them political as well as public

It is time we cast our fates to the wind.
The "experts" (so often wrong) predict the virus will return. Then what?
I am 70, so in a more endangered class, and say let's get it over with.
I want our progeny to live prosperously in freedom.

I just don't think a recession would help democrats. Do people really think Hillary or Biden would have made things better? Besides, democrats are cheering our hard times, so who wants to vote for someone like that? Harming Americans in order to get political power is not the actions of people you want running the country. The contrast between President Trump and the democrats is clear and sharp. People can see that President Trump is not using the crisis to push pork or legislation. He is working hard to win this ''war'' against the virus, as well as against the democrats!

I don't get it. I don't know what could make a rational person vote for Biden as president (actually his running mate will be president within six (6) months) even if Trump can't get the economy up and running at full speed. What does Biden plan to do???

Sunday night, I spoke with a friend over the telephone. He ranted and raved against Mr. Trump. I tried to pin where it belongs: The Communist Party of China. But the friend dismissed it, saying that Mr. Trump ignored the problem until it was too late. I let him rant and rave; I realized nothing I could say would alter his opinion in the slightest.
Finally I just said we needed to talk about something else or I wouldn't be able to sleep. After another five minutes of ranting and raving, he did change gears.
Why am I saying all this? It illustrates one thing: People hate Mr. Trump more than they want the current set of problems solved. Very sad!

Well Black, I think we all know that. There are lots of writers out there, with the benefit of hindsight, pontificating about what "must be done" ignoring the fact that the issue is being looked at with care and forbearance.

The political lines leading up to the November election have been drawn. It looks like the Trump Administration and the Federal Government are going to present the States with comprehensive guidance to use in reopening the economies in the various States.
Chances are after receiving that federal guidance a lot of the Republican Governors after taking prudent precautions will re-open their State’s economies which will eventually get back to normal. The way it looks now the liberal Democrat Governors on the East and West Coast are setting themselves up to find all sorts of complications that will delay reopening their State’s economies for as long as they can, risking doing lasting damage to those State’s economies, in political moves that they believe will hurt Trump and help Biden in the November election.
There is no doubt that most Americans want the economy to get back to normal in keeping with good public health practices.
If the Democrat Governors do lasting damage to their economies they are going to own that when it comes to the November election. Taking political pot shots at the President, like calling him a King, will not cut it when Americans vote in November.

To paraphrase Golda Meier (concerning peace in the Middle East) there will be peace in the USA when the left-lib-progressive-commiecrats love America more than they hate Pres. Trump. IOW, never.

If a team does badly, the easiest response is to get a new coach. That said, a president lacks the enforcement power to open of close the country. What a president can do under the Constitution is reopen the executive branch. For practical purposes, however, that is a big deal. If the public may once again walk into federal agencies and visit national parks and monuments, they will demand to return to normalcy elsewhere. Individual governors would look foolish and dictatorial if they try to interfere with citizens standing in a line at Social Security, the SBA, military recruiting offices, the VA, etc. Open those and the country will follow. Be timid, and the country will be timid. Be timid and governors will attempt to upstage the president by issuing stay-at-home "orders." Be timid, and be remembered in November as being timid, despite the bold talk. Put America Back to Work, Mr. President. Do it very soon. Or be prepared to see a new coach.
