Maybe there’s a reason why
dire projections about COVID-19
have been wrong

COVID-19 has proven to be a brutal flu for those unlucky enough to get it. Any new disease that’s successfully left animals behind for human-to-human transmission is highly risky. Nevertheless, the current insanity gripping the world is based upon highly dubious computer models, making those models as dangerous as a virus.
On March 8, MSNBC’s Chris Hayes attacked Trump for trying to manipulate downwards the expert projections about COVID-19 deaths. One month later, Hayes was back, attacking Trump for intentionally manipulating the numbers upwards

If only the models used to shutter the economy required the same rigor that we require of our meds

The very first sentence is highly misleading. Almost everyone who gets infected with the Wuhan virus remains asymptomatic or gets a mild disease between a cold and a flu. I think the author means "those unlucky to have a severe case of it."

Wow, I can make predictions as well as Ferguson. I predict that COVID-19 will kill somewhere between 1 and 7 billion people. He's got a job like a weatherman, however wrong the prediction, he keeps his job.

For those of you who watched a segment of Fox and Friends this morning, you saw that Dr. Ben Carson explained that the emphasis should be on the FACT that over 98% of people infected with the Chinese virus recover!
That was expanded upon by Dr. Oz, wo pointed out that the number reflects KNOWN cases of infection, and that 25% of people who get the virus never experience any effects, and don't even know they had it! Therefore, the number of people who recover is actually far more than the 98% number.

Whether it's this pandemic, climate change, hurricanes, or presidential polls, models are used in large part to push a political agenda and repeated endlessly until people "believe" them. When proved wrong, the spin, excuses and blame deflection starts.

It appears that the only thing consistent about Cris Hayes is his inconsistency. But as a member of the dem parties propaganda wing, he is required to be.

It's obviously because those who cooked up the numbers hate Trump. If Billary was president, these fake numbers would not have seen the light of day.

Isn't Chris Hay6es the skinny guy with the rolled up shirt sleeves, who, on election night, 2016, kept showing us how DJT could not possibly win?
That magical map of his let him down.
The members of almost all of the media, including some on fox news, are collectively like the cheating wife who nags her husband. No way for the husband to stiop the nagging, and no way for DJT to stop the media from their lies..

Still waiting for evidence that COVID19 is found widespread among any sort of animals.
It's a NEW TO SCIENCEA VIRUS ~ almost like it got locked away in a glacier on a mountain top, and then released into the modern world ~ fresh, unsullied, perfect for a sneak attack on a grand scale.
And, there are plenty of folks getting ice cores from mountain top glaciers.
Just do a google.com search for ANCIENT VIRUS ICE CORE MOUNTAIN
Apparently none of these people are very well supervised although their expeditions are certainly well financed...... there are even reports that the NEW LABORATORY just opened in Wuhan in 2018 was initially stocked with plenty of Ice Cores that may have been "unearthed" as early as 1992/93!
It's so easy to dig up the reports on ANCIENT VIRUSES it amazes me that none of the news media "world's greatest experts" have figured that out.
Are they protecting the Chicoms?

The doctors act like they have Turrets syndrome they can blurt out what ever they want from their fake made up models and a year from now we will forget what they said. Now all hospital deaths will be from the virus even if a patient died from other health complications like heart disease or cancer. This isn't right for the American public who trust the people in the white lab coats to tell the truth. American deserves better than lying politicians or hack doctors who dislike the President's leadership.

All in all a pretty good experiment in
a) What it takes to scare Americans into their cubbyholes.
b) Can you make them wear silly masks when they do venture out ?
c) How badly can you mangle the statistics without everybody catching on ?
d) How long can you prolong the whole affair ?
e) How do you get them to love you when it's done so they won't blame you ?
Believe me, the socialists are watching closely.

The reason being that higher numbers benefit certain special interests. If your problem doesn't scare enough people, artificially magnify it.

I am a (Ph.D.) mathematician and have worked with mathematical models all my life. I have learned their limitations and don't take them too seriously. When I worked for the Executive Office of the President, we did a study of economic models. The best ones were useful to predict three months; at six months they were marginal; at nine months they were garbage. Models can sometimes be useful to show general effects or directions, but their quantitative predictions must be viewed with great skepticism. The world is complex, models are simple. Will anyone learn from this fiasco to re-examine the anthropogenic global warming model predictions?
