Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear (D) has vetoed legislation that would mandate state voters to show a photo ID before they vote in the 2020 presidential election, and every election after. Last week, Beshear announced his veto of mandatory voter ID legislation that ensures all registered voters must prove their identity before they cast a ballot, starting in November.According to Beshear, requiring voter ID creates “an obstacle” that results “in fewer people voting,” though research and data show otherwise. In Alabama, which has a mandatory voter ID law, black American voters came out in droves in 2018 to help elect Doug Jones to the U.S. Senate.
But having to show ID in every other facet of dealing with the government, or in taxation is required? Unbelievable...

I am a Kentuckian and I am furious!! Andy coasted to the win because Matt Bevin had alienated too many people and Andy's dad Steve had been governor. I hope the legislature tries to get the ID law passed again. As many people have pointed out, you need it for literally everything else.

Beshear's election was a fluke. I'm not sure what really happened with Governor Bevin. It's difficult to get the truth these days.
The Kentucky House and Senate passed that law with a super majority and will overturn the veto as the article states.

In the process declaring that many of his own state voters are too stupid to get an photo ID. when in fact they already have one: you cannot live as a citizen in a modern advanced society without one. Research and existing data has proven that, over and over again.

I'm a voting commissioner in charge at my precinct/ward here in Louisiana and it's the law that everyone must show a photo I.D. before they can vote. I have to show mine to the commissioners before I can vote, and my wife of 52 years has to show hers, and it's no big deal. I've never heard a complaint, by any one, regardless of race, in all the years I've been doing this. Poster #1 is right.

Florida used the Government Mandate for Real ID to renew Driver's Licenses to coincide with Voter Registration. This cut down on a lot of Voter Fraud, as Real ID demanded you produce documentation before getting a DL or Voter Registration Card.
This does not totally eliminate fraud by illegals, or by other means.

#2, if I remember correctly, it was the vote count in the Louisville area that put him over the top....predictably the count was greater than usual, which leads me to believe there was voter id fraud in those precincts....

It just goes to show you... sometimes republicans, you've got to learn to hold your nose and vote for a republican you don't really care for... BECAUSE OF THIS! Will we never learn? When a democrat today gets in office, their primary goal is make their area "voter fraud" central to make their seat unchangeable.... will we ever, ever, ever learn? Any republican who didn't vote for Bevin... shut up! Not only that, but now, Kentucky is riper for voter fraud and President Trumps re-election just that much harder!

People like Beshear, who proclaim that voter ID is an obstacle to voting are either stupid, or have a bad agenda. Americans must have proper ID for many things in their daily life, but somehow manage.
Yes, IMO this is all about voting fraud!!

Basically the Gov. said that legitimate votes aren’t a concern to him. He just spit in legal voters faces in his state. Typical leftest idiot.

Well if the Democrats did not believe that legitimate voter rules, such as each registered voter being issued and presenting a specific voter ID card as they vote would be an impediment to Democrat operatives instigating cheating and voter fraud, through such manipulations as same day registration which common sense will tell you allows untold numbers of people to cast votes that they are not lawfully eligible to cast and then disappear, or to allow untold numbers of people to vote at multiple locations. Along with such Democrat creations as ballot harvesting that allows Democrat political operatives to canvas immigrant and low income heavy communities and neighborhoods, and fill out and return absentee or mail in ballots for large numbers of people who otherwise have no clue as who they should vote for, and so might vote for a Republican if not prompted in person to vote for the Democrats. That’s why the Democrats are so rampantly against anti-fraud voting related initiatives or voter ID.

Bevan screwed himself by taking his voter base and their individual rights too lightly and got the proverbial "big head".
Let's hope the veto will be overridden.
So many actions taken as a whole from all over the county are seemingly coordinated to take away the integrity and sanctity of the people's right to vote. New stories coming about daily and weekly--
The big push seems to be to allow voting which is UNVERIFIED and allowing the "harvesting" of mail-in ballots instead of in-person voting while trying to ignore photo ID laws and ultimately CIRCUMVENTING the Electoral College in November

Knowing a little how Democrats work, if he got in by a squeeker, I would assume he is now a full-fisted sock-puppet being used by the Left further up the chain. He is expendable because he might not be around long anyway - so get out front ramming through one of their sure-fire ways to steal elections. Get it to stick here, and it's much easier to get it to spread. Like a virus. If he loses constituent approval or his job over it (perhaps Republicans will challenge him or at least vote him out ) not to worry - the Left will reward his actions and he'll have a good living somewhere in the hierarchy.

Yeah, it's always an obstacle whenever I try to cash a check at the bank or pay for groceries. They always insist on asking for picture ID, and won't let me just walk out of the store without paying for it. I'm not aware of any situation where people can exist in this society without having an ID of some kind. While politicians tell us how very important our vote is, they make it meaningless when they allow anyone to vote, regardless of their legal status. Why even register to vote, if we don't have to show an ID to prove we are the person who registered?

He is a filthy, damnable liar.
The good news is that they are likely to override his horrible veto and make this law.
It is a real shame we can't get this passed nationally. Should be a Constitutional Amendment, if we could get it passed, which seems unlikely with the amount of fraud that the Dems can generate now.

If that means fewer illegals and other ineligibles voting, I am all for less people voting. I cannot believe that the people of KY thought this slug democrat was a better choice than the reelection of Matt Bevin.

Like WALLS with blocking illegal border crossing, voter ID laws, when implemented, work as intended to prevent illegal voting. The problem is that Democrats depend on both illegal border crossing and illegal voters to keep in power. This is the true reason that Democrats hate both border walls and voter ID laws.

This is an indication that Dems are running scared. After one governor does this, then another will try. The Republicans need to take off the gloves especially in down ballot elections. Get organized and b prepared to play dirty.

I wonder how the poor, disenfranchised voters, who have such a hard time getting that State I.D., ever manage to get those SNAP/EBT cards, are able to purchase liquor and concert tickets and get drivers licenses. You can't even by spray paint and some bug sprays without a photo I.D. Maybe it's too hard for the cemetery citizen voters to get out and get that photo I.D.
