When the going gets tough, the rich get going … to luxurious underground bunkers. Suddenly, heading six feet under doesn’t sound so bad, especially when the new digs often include pre-stocked food and blast-proof doors.Helicopters are on standby “if that moment comes,” says one bunker specialist, to whisk elites into subterranean palaces with below-ground swimming pools, tennis courts and gourmet food rations in spaces you’d never know were originally designed for the military, both American and Soviet. If you’re not in the 1 percent, no problem,

Darn. I wish I could afford someplace nice like that. Kind of makes me wish I'd made some better choices in life.

I couldn't live in a big city where everybody lives on top of each other. I don't care how restaurants, museums, entertainment are available. I don't want to sit in traffic for hours to go a few miles, I want to be able to jump into my car run to the grocery store, pick up a cart full and be home within 1:15min. The flyover States get mocked by liberals in the big city, but there is no other place I'd rather live. You don't need a bunker like in this article free, just a house.
There is an island for sale north of Drummond island north of the Straits of Mackinac. 17 acres, house with great with a small harbor, electricity and running water. Get 10 friends to go in and build small cabins and live free from everything. But you will need a boat!

It’s not a bunker; it’s a trap.

Pre-stocked gourmet food needs to be cooked by someone, and it will eventually run out. These elites will never be able to fend for themselves, and they're in for a rude awakening when they come to take it away from a bunch of well armed bible clinging deplorables.

.Ha. Remember the Twilight Zone episode where the guy locks himself in a bunker with years supply of canned food only to realize he had forgotten to include a can opener...

I get a feeling that those 'elites' who would be whisked to safety will not be the for the betterment of the rest of the 'survivors' who won't be so protected from whatever catastrophe comes. Which more than likely will be caused by those same elites. And those toughened survivors - might not be so grateful to let the elites back out.

And what are these "elites" going to do when they come out of isolation and there aren't any "deplorables" to rebuild society and grow more food? Not exactly a well-thought-out plan.

Don't be silly #10, everybody knows groceries magically appear on the shelves every night. They just send Jeeves out to fetch it for them.

If one infected person gets into the bunker, (likely) it becomes little more than a "underground cruise ship" or Kirkland Washington nursing some with a higher fatality rate.

Knowing how to make things, fix things, grow things, process and store food, how to use weapons skillfully, make ammunition, hunt, process game and domestic animals-- those are far more valuable than a bunch of money.
I have both the skills and a pretty decent bit of the money, certainly no Paul Allen, though....guess which I value more?

I read the attached article and followed a link to a site for bunkers called Vivos-Xpoint... 575 old munitions bunkers (Black Hills Army Depot) in an abandoned town named 'Igloo' in S.D. For only $35,000 you can get your own bunker, empty...and fix it up to your tastes...no where in the description pages does it mention sanitation or water....but it looks 'elegant', albeit there is NOTHING around except for other bunker entrances...checked it out on Google Earth...it's a few miles south west of Edgemont S.D.....if you want to check it out: https://www.terravivos.com/secure/vivosxpoint.htm ....for what it's worth...

I got claustrophobic just looking at the photos!! Sorry, but I need sunlight and fresh air, and hiding in a hole in the ground is surrendering to the panic to me. Keep it. I'll take my chances sitting on my deck and tossing cracked corn to the neighborhood geese population!!
