In Great Britain, extraordinary measures are being taken to ensure compliance with a nationwide shutdown order. From Breitbart: Humberside Police in northern England has built a website for citizens to inform on their neighbours for violating the government’s rules on daily exercise and social distancing. You can only go for one walk a day. If you go out twice, you can be reported to the police. People’s worst instincts are coming to the fore.

Jolly Olde England. Never was much of a beacon, if you ask me. At least since Churchill's day.

So if I go out for a walk and meet no people or come no closer than ten feet to anyone I am still a threat to someone not there or the non existent people are a threat to me? Insanity. It is bureaucrat think. This is the way we do things, even if it makes NO sense or may actually be dangerous to do it that way. It is physically and mentally healthy to get out of the "cabin" and walk around, especially for older people whose health can degenerate quickly without regular exercise.

Evil politicians love a crisis! They play upon people's fear to induce them to do things they would otherwise never do.

Kathy Griffin's Trump Derangement Syndrome has manifested itself in a variety of ways over the past few years, most notably her photoshoot featuring herself holding a bloody severed head of Trump back in 2017. Well, she hasn't learned much from that experience that damaged her career. Last week, she tweeted a photo of herself in the hospital, and criticized President Trump over the availability of coronavirus tests in the United States because she wanted to be tested, but wasn't. "I was sent to the #COVID19 isolation ward room in a major hospital ER from a separate urgent care facility after showing UNBEARABLY PAINFUL symptoms. The hospital couldn’t test me for #coronavirus

Last week, hundreds of Iranians reportedly died from drinking methanol — industrial alcohol — believing it was a cure for the coronavirus. Iran’s experience is just another aspect of the panic over the coronavirus pandemic gripping many people and nations. Right now, there are over 100,000 cases of coronavirus infection in the United States, almost half of them in New York City. People — and state governments — are trying to stem the spread of the disease through social distancing, hand washing, and quasi-quarantines.

Gov. Cuomo for veep? Well, never say never — but it’s unlikely. Yes, the governor is up to his neck in five-star reviews for his management of the coronavirus crisis. His TV presence radiates calm competence. Clearly, he has gotten the poetry of governance in a maelstrom right; whether he is on top of the prose of it remains to be seen, but it certainly seems so. And of such stuff are political superstars born. So it’s no surprise that people are talking him up as a potential partner to presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden. If ever a candidacy needed a belt of Red Bull, it’s Biden’s.

The Trump-deranged power couple, Prince Harry and his American wife Meghan will have to swallow their pride and ask President Trump if they want help in securing strong security measures in the United States. Will they ask for and receive special security, like Secret Service protection? The newly non-working royals, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are living in California, having escaped Canada before being stuck there when it was announced the Canadian border with the U.S. would be closed and air travel limited. They hopped aboard a private jet with baby Archie and flew to where they really wanted to be all along – Los Angeles, California.

Florida, falling short of statewide lockdown, is now screening travelers from the New York City area and Louisiana “hotspots” both at highway roadblocks and at airports, threatening them with 60 days in jail if they don’t self-quarantine as the number of confirmed cases in the state peaks to over 4,200. Gov. Ron DeSantis has so far refused to issue a statewide stay-at-home order, similar to those enforced in at least 22 other states, including California, New York and Illinois. More than 4,200 confirmed cases, with at least 56 deaths were recorded in Florida on Sunday. The number of infections is doubling every three days

Pharmaceutical companies throughout the world are working around the clock to develop effective coronavirus treatments or a vaccine with no clear breakthroughs. President Trump has spoken out about the importance of trying new treatments in hopes that we can learn where there's room for optimism and where there is not. He has touted drugs used in malaria cases as a possible response to the coronavirus and now the Food and Drug Administration put in place an emergency use authorization to try these drugs despite clear evidence of their effectiveness. Politico reported late Sunday that the drugs included hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine.

One police officer in Newburgh, N.Y. was shot when trying to arrest an armed man wanted for questioning in a shooting. Bodycam footage clearly shows the man armed with a silver handgun violently resisting arrest, drawing his gun, and shooting the officer before getting shot to death by the police. Cut and dried case of police defending themselves? Not if you're an activist wanting to stoke the fires of racial hatred. Newburgh residents rioted that evening after a councilman-at-large, Omari Shakur, bitterly complained about police targeting blacks.

What will happen next with the coronavirus epidemic is unknown, but it seems certain to claim one very high-profile victim: the so-called Green New Deal. Good riddance. The current crisis in the U.S. economy is, in miniature but concentrated form, precisely what the Left has in mind in response to climate change: shutting down large sectors of the domestic and global economies through official writ, social pressure, and indirect means, in response to a crisis with potentially devastating and wide-ranging consequences for human life and human flourishing. What is under way right now in response to the epidemic is in substance much like the Green New Deal

Stop me if you’ve heard this before: Renewable energy is getting so cheap that it doesn’t need subsidies anymore. Yes, well. Renewables live or die by subsidies, in fact. That was proved yet again this week, when Democrats tried (unsuccessfully) to stuff a panoply of Green New Deal measures into the corona-crisis relief bill — including extensions of the tax credits that have been driving the growth of solar and wind energy. That Congressional Democrats would push so hard for solar and wind subsidies at such a critical time for the US economy is particularly galling for two reasons. First, the wind industry already stands to collect some $33.75 billion in subsidies

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was blasted on social media Friday for her swipe against President Trump amid the growing coronavirus outbreak within the U.S. Since the availability of testing kits has broadened in recent days, the number of confirmed cases in the U.S. has skyrocketed. On Thursday, the U.S. has reportedly outpaced both China and Italy with more than 97,000 reported cases. Clinton took the latest developments as an opportunity to knock her former 2016 rival on Twitter. "He did promise 'America First,'" Clinton wrote, referring to one of the president's oft-repeated campaign slogans.

Pope Francis prayed for an end to the coronavirus pandemic on Friday in front of an empty St. Peter's Square, as Italy continues to remain one of the most impacted regions in the world. Speaking through the rain, Francis read from the Gospel during the hour-long ceremony and urged the world to view the crisis as a reminder of basic values. "My God’s blessing come down upon you as a consoling embrace,” Francis said from the steps of St. Peter's Basilica, where he normally draws tens of thousands of worshippers. “Lord, bless the world. Give health to our bodies and comfort our hearts.”

Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) described president Donald Trump of fiddling while people died of coronavirus. Pelosi said, “First let me say how sad it is that even since the president’s signing of the bill, the number of deaths reported has doubled from 1,000 to 2,000 in our country. This is such a very, very sad time for us. We should be taking every precaution. The president, his denial at the beginning, was deadly. His delaying of getting equipment to where it — his continued delay in getting equipment to where it’s needed is deadly.

Prince Harry 'regretted' having to stand down from his role in the military, and felt 'forced into it' after stepping down from royal duties, a source has claimed. The Duke of Sussex, 35, who decided to step back from the limelight with Meghan Markle, 38, and 10-month-old Archie after being subjected to intense scrutiny which brought back painful memories of Princess Diana's death, is said to have been apologetic about giving up his post as Captain General of The Royal Marines. Harry, who served for 10 years in the British army, entered into negotiations with the royal family after announcing his withdrawal as a senior royal in January, and as a result

You’ve probably heard the expression those who can, do, and those who can’t, teach. A Rhode Island public school teacher perhaps gave that chestnut a new meaning by allegedly taking to Twitter with an offer to pay someone infected with COVID-19 to cough on President Trump. The educator in question, who has subsequently deactivated her Twitter account that purportedly operated anonymously under the handle “Proud Teacher,” is said to teach English as a Second Language to middle schoolers. She previously taught in neighboring Massachusetts. [Tweet] There is no indication as yet as to whether public school administrators will look into this matter further with an eye toward possible discipline.

Chutzpah is a Yiddish word meaning incredible audacity. The most famous example is the man who murders both his parents and then throws himself on the mercy of the court because he’s an orphan. Neither Prince Harry nor Meghan Markle is Jewish, and it’s doubtful if they even know the meaning of the word “chutzpah,” but they’ve sure got it – and Trump was not amused. One of the things that was immediately obvious about Meghan Markle was that she was “woke.” That is, in keeping with her “B” level actress status, she eagerly copied all the political shibboleths of the big Leftist stars
