When Donald Trump tweeted this week that the United States had performed more coronavirus tests than any other country, the media were upset.Trump being Trump, he’d also said the United States had done more tests in eight days than South Korea had done in eight weeks. PolitiFact calculated the United States had done 17,582 fewer tests than South Korea during that time period. LiveScience said the United States had done 43,790 fewer tests than South Korea during that time period.Their own disparity notwithstanding, other media outlets pointed out merely that South Korea is a much smaller country than the United States. That meant they had done more tests per capita

So the quick pivot from total tests to tests per-million was not so interesting that the reporters would do the same when comparing stats on cases and deaths, reporting that the U.S. had overtaken Italy now (but not bothering to do per-capita comparisons, in which Italy would still be far higher).
Distorted reporting becomes easy to see when the report uses different metrics and double standards.

Let's just challenge the media to go to China, right to WuHan and get the straight scoop. First they would be too scared to go, second, they wouldn't be allowed in, and third, any numbers they got would be bogus. China says "trust us" these are correct numbers. And I say "I've got some oceanfront property in Arizona, from my front porch you can see the sea, and if you believe that, I'll throw the Golden Gate in for free". Hat tip to George Strait.

Woke up this morning, and turned on Fox News. The hysterical, number-of-cases-in-the-US count screeched at high volume. There was no context, no examination of the numbers with additional qualifiers, nothing. It was just the next hot spot US city, and the next, and the next. And, that was all in about 60 seconds, which is how long it took me to get to the TV, and change the channel. I refuse to play.

A good recap of the latest hair-on-fire enemedia outrage that the Chinese communists ordered last week. If you believe that the Chi-Coms have had no new cases in a month, well...you've got to be an enemy agent. Either duped or complicit.
The best part of the daily briefings are the questions and answers. As a poster pointed out the other day, it is gladiatorial. Our Hero taking on all comers one at time, vanquishing all and leaving the field without a scratch on him. The master of the reality TV genre is producing, directing and starring in the greatest of them all. Instead of ratings points, the metric for success will be the MAGA agenda in full implementation.

Actually it looks like the freer that a country is, the more corona virus cases there will be in that country. Obviously the left has no love lost on such freedom.

The news media are stuck on the idea "if it bleeds, it leads." They will start a war in order to cover it. See William Randolph Hearst for details.
Back in the 1980s I taught a student who was determined to have an IMPACT on the world. His notion was that one had to stir up trouble in order to have trouble to solve. His idea of news was a narrative which spurred people into action. Not reporting on what was taking place, but causing things to take place in order to cover them.
And now that's all we have.

So, testing HAS TO be adjusted on a 'tests per million people' basis, but virus cases are NOT to be adjusted to a 'cases per million people' basis?
They are such vicious, deranged haters, they must really be eaten up inside with their hate. Sad, disgusting people.

South Korea total cases 9,300; deaths 129 = 1.4% mortality rate.
U.S. total cases 121,043; deaths 2,020 = 1.6% mortality rate.
Italy total cases 86,000; deaths 7,375 = 9.2% mortality rate.
Global total cases 660,175; deaths 30,642 = 4.6% mortality rate.

I've noticed the pundits use percentages instead of raw numbers. There is a difference in the picture painted with percentages and actual numbers. Cuomo stated NY got 1.4% of available funds while Wyoming go 17.4%. There is a big difference in budgets for each state therefore even distribution of funds causes exaggerated numbers. No one report positive stuff about the coronavirus, especially the TV media. When Trump reports or give figures the media comes up with information that proves he's wrong. If Trump walked on water the media would report 'Trump can't swim'.
