Appearing Tuesday on WMAL’s Morning on the Mall, Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, accused D.C. journalists of attempting to pit him against President Donald Trump and affirmed there is no rift between himself and the president on how to combat the Chinese coronavirus outbreak. (Audio) A partial transcript is as follows: VINCE COGLIANESE: It seems like increasingly a bunch of questions from the media are designed to create a rift between you and the President

Little man. President Trump put you on the stage, Dr. Fauci, and now you have nothing more to add but “I, me, I, me….” It is not all about you.
The President has a country to run.

Fauci is a flaming liberal. His gestures and facial expressions during press conferences are childish and unprofessional. The attention has gone to his head. Trump took him off the stage. We have no time or patience for egos and political nonsense.

I expect to hear from the ridiculous so-called ''media'' how the Doctor was personally ORDERED by President Trump to make this statement or he will find himself in charge of a scabies outbreak in Zimbabwe or Outer Mongolia. I also now expect the media to double down on their lies about this. It's what they do.

Re #3, and with all respect, I don’t believe President Trump would “order” him to make a statement. President Trump would just omit him from the task force lineup presentations. They don’t come on their own. They are invited. Fauci got the message. This sounds like his attempt to make nice.

So Vince - why didn't you ask Dr. Fauci why has the CDC never run PSAs on the importance of hand washing, etc every year that there has been the flu, SARS, H1N1, etc but all of a sudden, their ads are everywhere?

The guy says something sensible and supportive, and we still have to jump down his throat? He's no wallflower, that's for sure, but I think he and the President make a good team. Two big egos, very different types, it's fun to watch. One thing I like about him is that his comments are brief and to the point.

Youngest son is a rising senior, chemistry pre med major, and has shifted away from clinical interest to lab rat status.. Dr. Fauci is a lab rat. dr. Brix is a clinician first, and it shows in her demeanor.
Dr. Birx is much better at explaining things to the reporters than Dr.Fauci is.
That does not mean Dr. Fauci is somehow inadequate. He is different, and needed. the inside the beltway reporters don't understand much of anything - what ever happened to science reporters?? so some of them are creating a fake feud between Dr. Fauci and the President. They are like the troublemakers who exist in every organization who seem to thrive on creating conflict.

Agree #9. Dr. Fauci and many like him are lab rats. They spend their entire lives doing "research" to keep the grant money coming and solve nothing. On another topic, can anyone believe that with all the research, money and everything else put into cancer research, nobody found a cure yet? Anyone? After this is over, because it will, the CDC, FDA and many other alphabet agencies that solve nothing will be purged and retooled. The day of reckoning is coming.

Re #10 - You are so correct. Too much money in research for many cures to be found. Lots of money in lab animals for research/torture, etc. For more info: see www.NAVS.org

I am puzzled by the vitriol against Fauci. I saw a long interview with him on Levin, and have watched him several times on the news conferences. I have seen nothing significant to concern me, and the Levin interview he went out of his way to praise Trump, saying 'he asks a lot of question, good questions', and
that he always considers the science. side.
I'm not joining the herd hating on this man, not at all.

Sorry, Toni, but you are no match for Donald Trump. Nobody is faulting you for anything worse than wasting our time. Retire and go home and we will forgive you.

I think Fauci has been a little careless about his reactions to what Trump has said. He looked at it as if it was up to him to set Trump right. It isn't.
If Trump misspeaks, it is up to Trump to deal with it. If Trump decides to get a little ahead of the science to give encouragement to the nation, that's up to Trump. It is not up to Fauci to reset the Country's expectation to Fauci's view of reality.
Hopefully, Dr. Fauci has learned a bit about political realities and that he needs to cleave closer to his actual value. He should also be aware that the media is looking for a Useful Idiot to complain about Trump. They are poking at Fauci because Fauci has shown tendencies to fill this role for them. I don't think that was his intention, he just wasn't guarding against being manipulated either. He needs to learn to stay on message or shut up.
The reality is that NO ONE really knows how this virus will play out, not even Fauci. In the end, Fauci has an informed opinion, not certain knowledge. Trump also has an informed opinion and far more moving parts to deal with than Fauci. Trump is giving Fauci a lot of respect and following his advice. But Trump delivers messages in his own way and Fauci needs to realize and respect that.
