When Vice-President Pence named Dr.Deborah Birx as response coordinator for the White House Coronavirus Task Force on February 27, 2020, she was hardly a household name, but the Trump Administration found a reassuring leader in this fight.
Dr. Birx has impressive background and steady demeanor that brings a calming influence to the fight against coronavirus. She was a colonel in the US Army and has an impressive career in clinical immunology, including over a decade of work on HIV/AIDS vaccine research. In 2014 she was nominated by President Obama and confirmed by the Senate as

Finally, a woman of substance in charge. Thank goodness VP Pence had the sense to put her in charge. God bless America!

She has impressed me as being intelligent, competent, excellent at explaining things, even good at straightening out dimwitted reporters who must have avoided college science classes like the plague. (That's an early morning pun.)
I suspect that she is slated for higher office. She would be excellent as secretary of HHS.

Dr. Birx is an impressive woman and the President allows her to shine along with the rest of his team. The whole team has done a marvelous job and it is a pleasure to watch them answer questions. The media jackals just can’t help themselves though and prove time and time again they are nothing but political hacks.

Totally agree that her presence is calming. And she's wonderfully diplomatic, calling the Millennials "our future" and imploring them sweetly to reconsider their Spring Break exuberance.
But at the same time, she HAS TO be aware that beginning next MON Kurabo Industries in Japan will begin selling Covid19 testing kits to the Japanese that will give results in 15 minutes. How come WE can't do this?
Once again, we have to pay attention to what's NOT said.

Wrote to the Whitehouse to keep doctor doom off (Dr. Fauci). This man is horrible and creates panic with every sentence. I noticed that she had to step in multiple times and provide common sense explanations. I am not impressed with the Dr. Fauci. I think he is over rated. Keep him out of sight.

A smart, sensible lady. Whoever advised Trump to recall her from RSA early on was a genius.
From another source:
"Birx comes from a scientifically-oriented family. Her father, Donald, was a mathematician and electrical engineer and her mother, Adele, was a nursing instructor. One brother was a mathematician and the other a nuclear physicist. Birx earned her B.S. in chemistry at New York state’s Houghton College in 1976 and went on to Penn State’s Hershey School of Medicine, earning her M.D. in 1980. She also went into the Army at that time and did her residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center."
An impressive lady. We are lucky to have her as a top advisor to the President.

This very professional woman has done more for the image of women than anyone alive whom I can think of. Very smart, very well-educated, very articulate, very authentic. She is very like the women friends I have admired during my long life. My late Mother, my good friend (a retired pediatrician), A handful. I have come to greatly admire Dr. Birx.
Not hysterical hand-fluttering freaks, not those in pink pussy hats marching in the streets, not those trying to climb the ladder with the Harvey Weinsteins.

We do so admire and respect her information and advice. She speaks from such knowledge and authority, along with compassion. -Very reassuring. Pres. Trump has appointed VP Pence and they have assembled a team we trust. God bless each of them with Wisdom as they seek the way to lead us through this.
