Washington—An urgent bipartisan coronavirus relief package is being held up in the House by a single Republican congressman who threatens to delay it for another week. The billion-dollar package, which includes sick leave and free testing for affected Americans, was due to move to the Senate as soon as Monday night, but has since been met with objection from GOP Rep. Louie Gohmert of Texas. The House passed the bill in the early hours of Saturday morning before it took a one week break amid the escalating pandemic, but it later emerged the legislation had technical issues which needed to be corrected.

No talk of the partisan Democrat goodies that Pelosi supposedly put in the bill. These people are despicable.

If Representative Gohmert objects to the bill, that is good enough for me.

insisting on reading aloud the changes, all 87 pages of them,
87 pages of legislative material is not necessarily that much to read. (Although I could be mistaken.)
I think this is a good idea. Some embarrassment should follow.

Consider Nancy Pelosi decided to play politics first, by not presenting a package until after Super Tuesday so her candidates could run ads saying the Republicans didn't have any plan.
Then, she tries to sneak a removal of the Hyde Rule, to open up Federal funding for abortions.
Now, there are more technical questions, along with the House out on Recess, huh?
Seems it could have been done sooner, but Democrats decided to play politics, and not let a good crisis go to waste for them.

I heard one of our WI Congressmen on the radio. The leadership fiddled around all day and then presented the 87 page bill at around midnight with the vote being taken at 0030. The entire Republican WI delegation voted no rather than passing another Pelosi pig in a poke. Good on them.

In Congress so-called “Technical Issues” can quickly become very expensive.

12 weeks paid family & medical leave for every employer.....not just during the Wuhan Flu 'Crisis'.... it is from this point forward for ALL employers.... Of course not paid by Feds...just a tax on business owners...If you have a 'small business', you can ask the Feds for a 'waiver'......
This is NOT the type of help hourly workers need now - a kick in the teeth of their employer. Small business would be better off just laying off workers, let them collect unemployment pay, and hire them back in a few months. As opposed to be forever transformed to EU type costs forever.

"Gotta pass the bill before whe can find out what's in it"
"Cant let a good crisis go to waste"
Two very applicable quotes in this case.

Did they all leave town and now have to fly back in, that a bonus. I was expecting the Senate to strip much of the pork before voting on it but this is better.

Why is anyone looking to the federal government to solve an economic or a medical problem?
The government causes problems - - it doesn't solve them. Let the free market - - which is nothing more than the accumulation of billions of individual decisions by free people - - decide how to resolve the problems.
If you're an L-dotter - - and in favor of government bailouts - - SHAME ON YOU!

There is now one week to find out what mischief Pelosi has stuffed into this bill unrelated to coronavirus. Pelosi's priorities do not include this country but rather herself and brute power. She has no shame.

I trust Gohmert over Pelosi. My guess if the bill is read on the floor it will be the first time the ones who voted for the bill was aware of what it contained. Gohmert is probably the only one who read the bill.

The article appears to be a slanted propaganda piece. Otherwise, some of Gohmert's objections would have been stated. Once this legislation becomes law it never changes.
A perfect example of this is TARP during a prior Economic meltdown. Once the banks paid back the Govt for the short term loan, was the money used to paydown the debt created to handle the crisis? NO! It was used for other things.
This might be why the POTUS declared a National Emergency. It freed up money without have Congress hold us hostage. Why wasn't this done during Impeachment. Trump, however inartful, was closing borders and doing things. Sorry...facts matter

One man objects to a massive waste of taxpayer dollars. Doesn't he realize the fortunes that can be made by the manufacturers of testing kits, etc, not to mention the benefits of burying us deeper in debt?
