Nancy Messonnier, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, told reporters on a conference call on Tuesday that health experts “do not expect most people to develop serious illness.” In her opening remarks, Messonnier explained that there are two different risk pools for contracting coronavirus. “Risk can be looked at in two ways,” Messonnier said.“There is risk of being exposed and getting sick

Why are we paying any attention to Rosenstein's sister, or that troublemaker Fauci either?

Democrats are in a tizzy. The number of new cases in China has been decreasing each day, and the number of deaths in America does not seem to be increasing at all, certainly not at the catastrophic rate predicted by various "experts" in the media. Although this could change, it increasingly looks like the coronavirus while certainly contagious, is not as strong (i.e. it's ability to survive) nor as dangerous to any but older people with pre-existing health conditions, as it was first purported to be. Which would in turn mean, that the virus has been way over promoted by the media and the Democrats.

Democrats are desperate to make this into a "Katrina" type issue, and use it to attack Trump, and Republican all for political gain, not public health concerns.
Yet, they all criticized Trump for his "xenophobic" travel ban, which likely curtailed the incidents in the United States considerably.
The main reason there is a "surge" in cases, is we are taking them into the United States (from cruise ships, and such).
Takeaway the Seattle nursing home deaths, and the death rate for the US is about 1%, and they are nearly all elderly with underlying conditions.

Yep. Most will find it no big deal, apparently less intrusive than a bad cold for the folks who have had it and have been interviewed about it.
Not good if you have a compromised immune system, which is true, to some degree of all elderly.....and I am a member of that class.

My wife just told me we are about to run out of toilet paper and I need to pick some up. It's one thing to drive around town to find ammo when there is a shortage but I do not want to drive all over just to find toilet paper!

I am surprised how few do not keep ordinary supplies stocked up. We have kept all important supplies stocked up so that we could, other than fresh foods, not shop for around 6 months and be fine on everything.
Too many primer and ammo shortages, and living along the SE coast for decades, always ready for the next hurricane, just gets you into a mindset - have some extra.

RN. Many years - ID was one of the services I worked for yrs. Mostly cardiac now, but please, this is NOT the panic that people are signaling. The "people" signaling are all those that stand to benefit from an economy hitting the brakes for even a few weeks until common sense prevails. Yes, specific population segments w co-morbidities are at risk. That's known. My concern would be raised only if 1) this lasts w intensity thru warm months and 2) if it mutates and there are different strains popping in warm weather.
Haven't gotten there.
I see more @ BS w pts that would be of great concern to bring home to my family than this. More than you ever know. Things that have no cure, treatment. Our hospital has taken to the I-Robot system of full decontamination - one goes in each room, each floor and all is shut so the UV bands of light are not hitting staff outside the rooms. It KILLS EVERYTHING - even things THINKING about taking a breath to grow. We now change into hospital provided scrubs upon entering for work, and deposit them into another room after shift. Locked off units.
Human bodies are rather not pleasant in terms of smell from poor hygiene, let alone a medical condition they have no control over. See a lot of poor hygiene practices. It does not help.
For those walking around upright - WASH - SHOWER DAILY - WASH CLOTHES IN ULTRA HOT WATER, ESP SHEETS AND TOWELS AND UNDERWEAR. Fecal matter is the biggest cross contaminant on most phones, keyboards, door handles, buttons, etc. Use the wipes w bleach or peroxide. I use hospital grade SaniCloths cuz I get them from work to clean my shoes off before I get in car and bag them. BLEACH all clothes you can. Don't neglect simple daily showering - the bacteria that are present on skin surface is incredible after 24h. Peroxide in laundry you can't bleach.
