Worcester, Mass.—A medical student from China who U.S. authorities say tried to smuggle cancer research material out of the country has been freed on $100,000 bond over the objections of federal prosecutors. Zaosong Zheng, 30, walked out of U.S. District Court in Worcester, Massachusetts on Friday but will remain under GPS-monitored house arrest, The Telegram & Gazette reported. His passport has also been confiscated. Zheng was arrested in December at Logan International Airport in Boston with 21 vials of cancer cells in a suitcase he was taking to China, authorities said.(Snip) Prosecutors argue that he is a flight risk and may be working with the Chinese government,

Comments:

There have been several arrests lately of Chinese nationals, one a confirmed member of the Chinese military, plus the American head of Harvard University’s Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology, who worked in secret with the Wuhan Institute of Technology. All very curious; who knows what they let out of the bag? Zaosong Zheng here will likely vanish like a puff of smoke.

About what you'd expect from commie MA. That Chinese putz probably had several other passports around in case of emergency and has already cut off his monitor and fled the country. Demonrats love the communist regime in China and will sell secrets right and left to them to pad their bank accounts. Guess what? In commie NYS, he wouldn't even have to post bail. After all, it's a "non-violent" crime. Demonrats love crime so long as it doesn't touch them.

Chelsea Manning attempted suicide on Wednesday inside her Virginia jail cell ahead of a scheduled court appearance, her legal team said. “Chelsea Manning attempted to take her own life,” the legal team said in a statement to The Post. “She was taken to a hospital and is currently recovering.” The Army intelligence officer-turned-leaker has been held at the Alexandria Detention Center for nearly a year after refusing to testify before a grand jury that is investigating WikiLeaks. Manning, 32, was and is still scheduled to appear before a judge on Friday regarding a motion to squash the civil contempt sanctions that landed her in jail.

A federal judge in Camden on Tuesday sentenced a North Jersey woman to 5 years and 10 months in federal prison for forcing a Sri Lankan woman to work as a nanny and housekeeper in her homes for almost a decade without pay. ICE’s chief said Wednesday that at current deportation rates it would take 140 years to remove all the illegal immigrants who came in during the border surge of the past two years. Matt Albence, acting director at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said the border surge over the past two years added 900,000 more cases to ICE’s non-detained docket, which now totals more than 3.3 million. That far outstrips ICE’s ability to track down and deport people, he told the House Appropriations Committee. “We arrested about 2,500 non-criminal fugitives last year.(Snip) He was defending ICE’s significant budget increase request

With some K-12 school districts and administrators across America panicking and attempting to get ahead of any ‘outbreak’ of the coronavirus, more districts are opting for students to stay home. I’d be willing to bet that most students thoroughly enjoy this. It’s kind of like having ‘snow days.’ However, what might be in store for these students could be far more important than a snow day, as it’s possible that the virus may herald a revolutionary shift in education. Throughout the years, American homeschooling and online K-12 education has become far more popular and realistic than ‘brick and mortar’ public schools want to admit.
