DOJ approves plan to collect DNA
from arrested illegal immigrants

The Trump administration finalized a new policy Friday that paves the way for Homeland Security to collect DNA from all illegal immigrants the department arrests, fulfilling the terms of a 2005 law that the government has been evading for years. Under the new rules, posted online Friday and slated to be published in the Federal Register next week, Attorney General William P. Barr can cancel an Obama-era waiver and order collection of DNA by agents and officers in both U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP). It was supposed to be already happening, but in 2010 then-Attorney General Eric H. Holder

Comments:

Until we start punishing employers of illegal aliens, end birthright citizenship, and stop handing out welfare to families of anchor citizens, etc, this is nothing but an expensive show to mollify the masses. Why waste money on DNA tests when we release them back into the USA, which has no working border?

OP, lighten up, undoing Obama policies is a massive stepwise process and we have to do it in a hurricane force headwind. Poco a poco, it'll happen, until 2024 anyway.

I'm surprised that BO gave this a waiver rather than misapply it. I'm sure that the current Progressive Nazi Left, if/when they get into power will find myriad ways to misuse such a program.

The problem with increasing the number of people whose DNA is in the database is that current methods of "matching" DNA result in matches of only 1 person in 10,000 or 1 person in 100,000 would match. In the first case, if you have 100,000 people in your database, you are going to get 10 matches for a crime committed by one person. Unless there is a massive improvement in the matching (which is unlikely in many crimes because the crime scene DNA is likely to be partial in the first place) increasing the size of the DNA database will only result in more people who did not commit the crime being matched to the crime. That does not mean that this is a bad idea, but the database should be sorted according to the type of crime the person committed.

Criminals rarely, if ever, commit just one crime and then stop. Illegals are well known to use multiple fake ID's to avoid being linked to other crimes they may have committed. DNA testing will be the Real ID the rest of us are forced to produce.

DNA testing is a good way to make a list of folks who will NEVER be eligible for US citizenship because they were here illegally. THAT is worth doing.

The email arrived on a Tuesday afternoon in January, startling Zachary McCoy as he prepared to leave for his job at a restaurant in Gainesville, Florida. It was from Google’s legal investigations support team, writing to let him know that local police had demanded information related to his Google account. The company said it would release the data unless he went to court and tried to block it. He had just seven days. “I was hit with a really deep fear,” McCoy, 30, recalled, even though he couldn’t think of anything he’d done wrong. Ruth Bader Ginsburg dismantled a controversial Louisiana abortion bill during an hour of arguments at the US Supreme Court this week, systematically striking down components of the law she previously opposed during a preliminary vote. The 86-year-old Supreme Court justice, who recently returned to the nation’s highest court after announcing she was cancer-free in January, seemed to aggressively push back against demands from lawyers representing the Trump administration and state of Louisiana to approve the legislation during Wednesday’s arguments. Louisiana’s Act 620 would require abortion providers to have admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles of its facilities, in the event

ICE announced Friday that it had defied a California sanctuary law and arrested a repeat-felon illegal immigrant outside of San Francisco’s Hall of Justice this week, prompting angry denunciations from local officials. The arrest is the latest escalation between the Trump administration and California over immigration enforcement, with the feds pushing back hard on the state’s sanctuary policies through lawsuits, subpoenas, and now flouting the state’s own laws. ICE said it had tried eight times to get local authorities to turn over the man, who was not identified by name, but each time those “detainer” requests were rebuffed. So they tracked him down

Voters from predominantly black and Latino neighbourhoods were forced to wait for hours to cast their ballot in Texas on Super Tuesday after long lines were reported at some polling stations. Election officials in the Houston area were forced to send in additional voting machines as thousands of people reportedly waited for up to five hours to vote at one station. The long waits came after the closure of hundreds of polling stations across Texas by the Republican-led state government since 2012. MSNBC anchor Rachel Maddow suggested voting difficulties had been caused in part by the “systematic” closing of stations in areas with high turnout for minority

The FBI missed opportunities to stop domestic terrorists from killing Americans because field offices failed to further investigate individuals who had been labeled homegrown violent extremists, the Justice Department watchdog said in a scathing report released Wednesday. At least six terrorists who later carried out attacks killing a total of 70 people were on the FBI’s radar prior to the attacks. However, the agents quickly closed the cases, concluding the suspects were not threats to national security, according to the Justice Department inspector general. Among the more high-profile individuals the FBI failed to recognize as a potential source of terrorism were Omar Mateen, who killed 49

Bill being Bill, there will be no real apology coming, just some typical and expected minimizing. “But whatever,” he says. “What I did was bad, but it wasn’t like — how can I think about the most stupid thing I could do and do it.” This is from a new documentary on Hillary, a for-hire job meant to canonize her and the would-be Clinton dynasty. And in typical Clinton fashion, they refuse to take the memo: Post-#MeToo, Bill is forever a liability.

Except I don’t believe in magic – or coincidence, for that matter – when it comes to politics. Everything happens for a reason and, in the case of Democrats in particular, for personal or party gain (or both). Democrat operatives have been bleating the conventional wisdom throughout the Democrat-media echo chamber that Biden has “pulled off one of the most spectacular turn-arounds in presidential primary history,”
