800,000 L.A. County ballots still
haven’t been counted

Nearly 40% of ballots cast in Los Angeles County in Tuesday’s primary election remained to be counted as of Friday morning, leaving undecided the outcome of some races, including the contest for district attorney.County election officials said that a wave of vote-by-mail ballots left at vote centers and still arriving by mail contributed to the number of untallied votes. The county registrar’s office said it had counted 1,294,610 votes as of Thursday evening. It estimated another 802,380 ballots remained to be counted, though that number could grow. The county will accept mailed ballots through Friday evening, as long as they were postmarked by election day.

I have said it before and will say it again, if the results are not in within 24 hours of the polls' closing time, the election should be VOIDED. There is some bad stuff happening in Ca, like cheating. In our locale, the scanned documents and machine counts are available almost immediately and all the Board of Elections has to do is ADD them up on a calculator. It is SIMPLE and QUICK; but of course Ca. needs to have lots and lots of time to finagle the results.

From the L. A. County site: With more than 500 political districts and 4.3 million registered voters, the County is the largest and most complex election jurisdiction in the nation. That said, provisional ballots are counted by hand and have to be checked against master voting records to be sure that the voter did not vote in some other way or submit more than one provisional ballot. That is a pain, and many, many provisional ballots were said to have been given out during this election. Mail in ballots are also counted after the polls close. More and more voters are skipping poll-voting and using these. Add to that the massive problems created when some genius(es) decided to completely redesign Los Angeles County’s voting system this time. No more going to neighborhood polling places. Instead there were “voting centers” scattered around the County. And they went from the former ballot card system to an electronic system that included electronic checkin. The electronic checkin was not working properly at a number of polling places. Snafu all around. And, oh yes, registration was done at the polls for those who had not registered... If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

America, in both its ideal and in its actuality, stands on two feet. Under those feet is a foundation of Biblical wisdom and a knowledge of history that taught the founders what worked and what didn’t.
